I think if you are in a field that you are passionate about, it's not hard, it's a quest!

IMHO, everyone has it hard, just depends on whos view you look at it from. From someone that's non-technical, they say that we are geniuses because we have to keep up with technology and new Operating Systems, or hardware/ software, virus cleaners, etcetera. Look at it from someone who is not a doctor or rather smart at all and they will say that a Neurosurgeon has it hard as they are dealing with very small and complicated parts of the body where a wrong move could cost someone their lives or make them paralyzed for the rest of their life, or could even bring them out of paralysis. They will say neurosurgeons have a lot to learn and study as it is about 14-20 years in college. It all depends on who you ask. Other technical careers are certainly hard: Doctors have to (or *should*) keep up with an incredible pace of change. Compared to them, I'd say we have it easy. (And our failure consequences are not so dire.) Engineers? Civil & structural have new materials developed continually, but are there any "paradigm shifts" like other professions, or is the change more incremental? Any other WAG's who has it easier or harder?
