In various ways. Sometimes it's a small voice in the back of your head.
Often it's the kind word of a stranger. Occasionally it's an "all-too-timely
coincidence." At times, a swift kick in the arse. A death, a birth, a war, a
treaty. A vision, a missing piece to a logical conclusion that suddenly
becomes obvious to you, a picture, or an election.

You can only catch it if you're listening for it, though, that's the kicker.
Then there is the whole problem of interpreting it...
