I've got a Mackie Control pro here and it works fantastically with Pro
Tools.
Since it is a control surface only, you should not have any problems
with running it along side your Studiolive.
When the machine is booted up for the first time, it defaults to logic mode.
The manual, which is very short and concise, tells you ghow to boot b
ack and forth between Pro Tools and logic protocols.
It's incredibly easy.
You'll love it.

Thanks everyone but to recap my situation the 003 just would not work for both
platforms that is the reason I did not struggle on through setting it up. I
will either purchased a new mackie and a ProTools upgrade and just go deep in
debt and big right here at home. I may do as Matt suggested and find a unit
from reverb did not even know about that site I will explore it already found
some cheap units on there. But I cannot give up my great quality of sound with
the Presonus studio live. This is a great topic because people who want to use
both logic and ProTools for whatever reason need to understand what they can do
and what they cannot do with these peripherals. I am also getting different
information from Sweetwater on the behrringer they assure me that particular
brand will not work well with ProTools. The Mac he seems to be the only thing
that can communicate well with both platforms it also works with Final Cut Pro
which we may wind up using as well for my business.

That X32 was the talk of the town in the blind community for a while, but I
myself have a love hate relationship with Beranger and would rather not buy
anymore gear from them, now if I find something in a pawn shop for pennies on
the dollar I may toss it in the gear locker. At this point having an ADAT is an
almost must have for any interface that I consider. Well, thanks for the info,
I will have to check out some sound demos on YouTube and see if I can get a
feel for the overall sound quality.

Yeah it was down to the ONYX and A&H for me. I went with the A&H cuz its did 18 by
18 instead of the mackie which only was 16 by 16. and actually the A&H can do 26 by
26 since it has a ADAT as well. The additional io/options to be used as a surface was was
put it over the top for me. Personally if i am gonna get a mixer i want it to bring its
own analog flavor to the mix so to speak and i don’t want to have to memorize screens and
pages of stuff to set things i just want knobs and buttons lol. Thats kind of why i haven’t
gotten into the x32 craze.

Sounds kind of like my Mackie Onyx board. I have both the Onyx, 003 and a 002
sitting around, but I am still contemplating getting something else if I could
justify it. The thing with the 003 is that even though it is rock solid on PT,
it doesn't seem to be as user friendly on other daws, the problem with the onyx
is that it is not considered a full surface,.

It’s A&H so the are known for their mic press and the 4 band eq on th board.
The converters seemed very nice in my experience. Unlike the Studio live from
presounus its an analog mixer with the audio not going digital till it hits the
Firewire bus. The StudioLive is digital so it gets converted to digit as soon as
the signal hits the mic press.

This is why i ended up going with the Allen & Heath Zed R16 mixer over the
Presounus. Its a mixer, interface and control surface all none. No motorized faders
but soft take over so things don’t just jump when you start moving faders..

I will try and work it out it is going to be a big opportunity to adapt and
change everything. Presonus Mike pres are wonderful but no automation, no
control surface overall and no plug in work. I will have to adapt I can always
use the mixer for live application and work out a way to expand the studio when
I track a bigger band.

I hope you can get it soarted out. I really enjoy mine. The pre's and the
conversion aren’t to die for, but the SPDIF can solve any of those issues. They
are typically a rock solid peace IMO and I haven't really came across anything
over the last 4 or 5 years that is under 3 grand that I would trade up for and
even then I would have to justify a larger surface with what my clients
actually need.

Well got me a new preowned Digi003. I am having problems getting it installed
in protools 11.4 and logic pro x. I think there is a conflict with my
presonus mixer drivers. so does any one know if the digi
and the presonus studio live mixer are going to stay in constant conflict.
What I am asking is do all presonus drivers need to be uninstalled for the digi
to run? I know they will not work in tandom. I need to know so I can make a
judgementcall as to keep the digi or send it back.
