@Oliver: OK I have written quick instructions in the wiki page you linked to. Probably not very understandable but I'll improve it with your feedback.
@Serge: First, check that you are able to access the tiles directly in your web browser (I put a sample URL in the wiki page). Second, check that you have correctly registered your IP address and the "cartes IGN" layer when you applied for the WMTS access (you can check that in your personal account on the "IGN pro" website). Third, try to start QMS from a command line prompt: maybe you'll see an explicit error message. -Pierre.
