Well, it might be nice, but only of limited value because you all have read the manual, haven't you?
Believe it or not, I've had a look and I can't find any programming API to determine what is the "default" system MIDI port. Doesn't that surprise you.
I can easily open the MIDI Mapper device, which will be the one you select in Control Panel, but I've no way to find out which real device that actually is. But I can't add "MIDI mapper" to the list of available devices as this will clash with whichever reall device it corresponds to.
So, what can I do? Ask everyone to read the manual and configure the default port when they first run QWS.
