The clash would result because if you open MIDI Mapper and then also open
the real port that it corresponds to, you've actually tried opening the same
port twice - which is not a good idea.
Some systems will allow this, others will not, that depends on the driver.
Also, assuming that you did successfully open the same device twice, then
tried sending conflicting data down the wire, that would certainly cause
problems.
