Hi James,
From reading that message I take it that simplicity is what you're going
for, and I agree with you there. I can see why some users would want these tools, but personally for the rare occasions I would need them, I'd do it the long way because it's not something i'd use enough to be worth adding it into a tool. so, my vote is, keep it simple, but it really doesn't matter to me if you add those things or not.

Hi folks,

OK you're bashing on the simplicity versus power door again.

On the one hand, I could make tools which each take twenty parameters
and can do everything you could ever possibly imagine. But that would
probably be way too complicated for even intermediate users.

On the other hand, I can make tools which have very limited
parameters, are easy to use and understand, but might not do
everything the most advanced users require. However, advanced users
can work out that they could get what they want with a couple of extra
steps on the rarer occasions when they want it.

So, if you'd like a note range added to the Transform tool, then I
guess you also might want a velocity range adding as well.

Then, why just the Transform tool, why not also the set length, change
velocity, split key, split velocity, split length, ... even transpose
or quantise tools?

What do you think? If you think it would be genuinely useful for the
majority of users, I can add it to the suggestions list.

Best regards,

James.

I really can't think of why that would be useful, but if it was there I
wouldn't complain, better to have more than what you need rather than need
something you don't have. That's James's decision.

Subject: QWS List qws note transform suggestion,

When writing down some ideas about transforms, i thought about this
idea. It would be an interesting addition to the note transform tool
if we were able to set the start and end note the transform should
apply to. I know this can also be done using key split and then apply
the transform to the right split track, but adding the possibility to
the transform tool directly would really speed-up the
process. Furthermore, it should not be that difficult to build in. Any
thoughts?
