I have found the Rivendell summer glove to be padded surprisingly well for my needs. More "modern" gloves don't seem to provide as much padding, and there are often gaps in the pads that just don't work for me.
On drop bars I use these gloves with Cinelli "Gel" cork tape. On upright bars I use them with cork grips.
