I've found that width has a good deal to do with the feel of upright 
bars...for me at least. Even when set at the same height, wider bars like 
the albatross are a bit more ramble-y feeling, while skinnier bars like the 
VO porters seem to provide quicker, snappier handling...closer to the feel 
of drops. But admittedly these observations are limited to only four or 
five swept-back bars.
