I'm curious about this too for my Fargo, so I'll chime in. It would be nice
to make the Fargo more switchback competent with fatter and sturdier tires,
bigger cassette, and other-than-drop bar. Swapping tires and cassette is
easy. It's the bar that takes time.

First, it would be a matter of swapping out stems as well as bars -- I'd
need something longer for a mtb or even say the Dove bar or Albatross
(though I am thinking that a new moustache bar might work too, and might
work with the stem I have which is slightly higher than saddle -- have been
wanting to try this new model.

If this is not to mean re-adjusting the headset bearings, I'd need some
sort of locknut spacer -- are these available?

Second: do cable splitters affect the precision of shifting the rd? I'm
shifting 9 with Silver bar end shifters, so any additional drag on the
cable will not be welcome. I'd use BES with an Albastache or thumbies with
an upright bar.

Lastly: Albatross or Dove or Albastache (hope springs eternal) for
technical stuff ... ? Will any of these work?
