This decision seems poorly thought out, or at least poorly communicated.

No LOGICAL reason was given for this move.

"Users are confused because info is in two places?"
A web of interconnected info is the essence of the Internet!

"Vacation bounces got us blacklisted and we couldn't send license keys"
So get a separate domain for the mailing list, easy.

Since there's no logical reason, I wonder if there's an ulterior motive?

I wonder if this is a move towards "Paid Support"?

Maybe we will soon gain access to the Forum only if we've paid for some sort of new yearly support contract.

Speculation, yes. Far fetched, no.
