(+)I think we're getting closer to the reason of my problem: I just noticed
(+)that /usr/sbin/crontab doesn't exist!?? Next thing I looked at is where

Try typing 'rpm -qa | grep cron'. You should see:
 
 [fontenot@linux fontenot]$ rpm -qa | grep cron
 crontabs-1.6-1
 vixie-cron-3.0.1-19
 [fontenot@linux fontenot]

If you don't then install the packages if you do then type:
 
 'rpm -V crontabs' then 'rpm -V vixie-cron'

you should see NO output. If you do then something has changed since the
initial install, and you ma have to re-install the packages.
