The safest solution is to set one system as the central mail hub. Have
the sendmails on all the other systems forward all incoming (and outgoing,
if you like) mail to that central system. It exports the mail spool, and
it is the only one which is allowed to deliver mail to the mailboxes.
Users may now safely read their mail from any system mounting the mail
spool via NFS, without fear of mangling their mail.
