Am currently running up2date on a fresh install of RH 7.2. Kept running into the same problem of "authorization required". I was running #up2date -u and all I had to do was hit either the up or down key, I think it is the down key and that would bring up the #up2date -u command and it would run thru the sequence and then begin downloading where it had stopped before. Finally got smart and ran #up2date up2date and then copied the up2date file to up2date.old deleted up2date and copied the up2date.newrpm file to up2date. I used the complete directory with the commands to be sure nothing got screwed up. It's working like a charm and haven't seen anymore "authorization required statements.
