I had another look at that last question..  

        Cos of win95's built in PnP, its generally happy if the modems
resource values get modified and can continue without too much fuss..  I
know in my own circumstances that linux can't cope in the same way..  maybe
u're modem is resetting its hardware values for some reason (or some other
factor is causing them to change, could be win95 juggling with resources,
without any thought for the poor little linux partition..  )

        Dono of an solution if thats the prob.. but at least u can eliminate
it as being a cause if u keep track of the H/W resources in use..

        heh.. gota stop reading these e-mails and get on with some work :)
