Dan,

I tried to get an ModemSURFR external 56K up and running but could not.

It appears that, while this modem isn't a (sic) full-fledged win modem,
there is code running on the Win PC to make the modem work.

The only person (that I found) who had the ModemSURFR working would boot to
DOS and set the I/O, IRQ, etc. in the autoexec.bat file then boot (from
DOS) to FreeBSD.

Our ModemSURFR was put on a Win95 where it works ok. Motorola support was
terrible, in my opinion. Their email support person handed out more
incorrect information than helpful hints; they wanted me to use their toll
line before all the "pre-phone call" tactics were tried. I do not expect
to purchase a Motorola modem again. (BTW, Motorola is trying to sell their
desktop Modem division.)
