I was just about to point that out, it's a common misconception with
MP3Gain - which I am very pleased also has a Linux version, although
command-line only.

But this is why a lot of people don't use it, they believe it will mess
with the file.  It doesn't unless you specifically tell it to.  It can
be useful though, my Dell Axim X31 PocketPC isn't ReplayGain-aware so I
use this option.  I make sure not to play these files back with
SlimServer though, the "double RG" adjustment would sound horrific.
