You welcome to explain better bullet 3. All the files were clean WAV
files so I have difficulties in understanding why those hsould not be
bitperfect. THey have not been transcoded or anything compared to what
is recorded on the CD so they should be (if ripped correctly) bit by
bit identical.

Anyway I did two more tries (I guess you hate me anyway by now :-)
)ripping once more a scratched CD.

Test 1. Ripped with Ripstation, Windows Media Player, EAC and dBPower.
EAC and dbAmp got an accuraterip confirmation and thw two WAV were
identical. And now comes the funny part Ripstation and Windows Media
Player rips were not identical to the EAC and and dB Amp one (2
different samples) but they were identical between them! So for anybody
that does not have any concern in ripping with WMP can safely use
Ripstation as well - those produce the same result and are just as fast
(it took exactly the same to rip the full cd).

Test 2. And this would worry me really much if I had to use Ristation.
Ripped same song 3 times with EAC and Ripstation. EAC produced the same
result everytime but Ripstation produced everytime a different result!
Attached is an example of difference between rip#1 and rip#2. This can
hardly have anything to do with wav file format or anything else. Which
rip file should I trust 1,2 or 3? If there is a difference in the wav
file there will be also in what is played back.

Finally I will conclude saying that no ripping program can make
miracles if a CD is badly scratched. And all the ripping programs are
almost just as good on perfect CDs (usually the small sample
differences can't be heard) so it is up to the individual if they want
peace of mind and know that they have achieved bit perfection or they
would rather go for speed. In any case, when ripping batches of CDs, it
is vital to save a detailed log of the results reporting the position of
each read error found. I think that would be great addition to
Ripstation functionalities. It would enable customers to revie the logs
and listen to exactly the places in the songs where errors occurred and
decide what to do (re-rip, get another CD, or just keep it).

Regards.
