MusicBrainz' '-Picard-' (http://musicbrainz.org/doc/PicardDownload) plus
'-Mp3tag-' (http://mp3tag.de/en/) team up great, in my experience.

I use -Mp3tag- for the initial clean-up and basic work, adding cover
images, generating Replay Gain, then stuff the result into -Picard-
which does the "good" tags plus MB PUIDs and renames/moves the files to
their final destination. (Actually, as a 3rd step, I also use -MusicIP
Mixer- or -genpuid- to store the "acoustic fingerprint" inside the
files.)

-Picard- and -Mp3tag- work great with usual filetypes (FLAC, MP3, OGG,
WMA, AAC, M4A), -MusicIP Mixer- does a good job on FLAC and MP3.

And, to be honest, -Jaikos- ain’t bad either. Its only I think
-Picard- is just "one step nearer" to MusicBrainz.
