The issue with it keep reprocessing files it has already done I solved
by commenting out the line

in the Perl script since I had already added an ALBUMARTIST to TPE2
mapping and failed to notice the existence of the BAND one. That
certainly sped things up.
I'm surprised you aren't seeing the errors again though, which leads me
to think it has thrown errors the first time and then still written MD5
sums, so it figures that the MP3 files, although containing errors,
don't need to be regenerated.
You could always start it again, forcing a transcode, since it's only
going to overwrite what's there with the same again but meantime you'll
be able to use the library.
