Right.  But if I can't get a log that generated the ERROR and WARNING
messages, then I'm still at square one.  So far as I can tell, the two
"error logs" that I did generate on the re-runs only turned up "untidy
quirks" that don't affect the actual playing / listening experience (if
I get a couple of weeks off work with swine flu, I'll use the time to go
through all the Flac originals, tidying up the track numbering
system....).

Or are you suggesting that, if I force a complete re-transcode *and*
add the "generate a log" command, ERRORS and WARNINGS should now show
up, as the script will in effect be running as if for the first time?

And  .. if that's the case, I confess I'm not exactly sure what I do to
force that re-transcode.  As I say, I know little of DOS and less of
PERL - and, though I've read the "instruction page" I'm still unclear of
what I type, where.....
