I've built about five of the kits now, and each one gets a bit easier; I
started with a basketcase one, both poorly-assembled and suffering from
the post office, over a year ago not long after getting involved in S scale. I
learned quite a bit from restoring that (thanks to Ron Sebastian for
a spare parts sprue and to the kind list member who sent me an instruction
sheet). The one hint I can offer is that there really is no way around
drilling the dimples in the ladders for the pins on the mating ladder; once
that is done and a good solvent cement is used, it comes out fairly
straightforwardly. One also needs to trim the individual round hatches and
realign the long corner grabirons per instructions.

I am probably now at capacity, since I am not really a modern-era modeler, and
I have another six or seven kits to go. I'd like to paint and letter
one or two of them for the DM&E which runs through town, using the Oddball sets
I bought, but my problem is hesitating to strip the nice
lettering from any of them. If another list member has one that is undecorated
or in a road he absolutely hates, I have a GN green, two [more]
NYC, two of the John Armstrong NMRA specials (and wish I'd bought more) to swap.
