Why would you need a program to design a trackplan? Starting in 1936 everyone I ever knew drew them by hand. Often on graph paper. You knew radius limits ,etc. Your room size, and how to draw a straight line, or a curve with a French curve. I guess i've been around too long
We will probably need a computer in a few years to go to the bathroom. Sorry but the modeler needs today just grab me the wrong way. Being as cheap as I am, I explored wome ways to do it without buying and/or trying to learn CAD software. I came up with a somewhat convoluted way to accomplish the task. First I do a hand drawing of a section of the layout 1" = 1' Then I scan it into the computer as a .JPG and drag it to a special folder named "trackplan" I then use Windows Explorer to make it a landscape image. I then add the labeling to the image with my website builder. I put the image out to my website so that it's a clean image with labels, etc. I use my screen grabber to isolate and capture the image from the website. Next it gets brought into Word which has a special PDF generator as a printer. I reduce the image in the PDF reader to 50% I then use my screen grabber to isolate the image and then print it. I put the images together much like a jigsaw puzzle. All this seems to be working OK. I'm about ¾ finished with only the Allentown division to do yet. The finished product will end up on my website. I put several of the completed segments at: http://royhoffman.com/pwrr/ASpecial.html Roy --- In [email protected], Ed Kozlowsky <soldado7264@...> wrote: > > Is there a track plan in there somewhere? I can't seem to find it if there is. >  > Ed Kozlowsky > Sanford, Maine > www.SScale.org > > > __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 6875 (20120210) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 6875 (20120210) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
