Jess Bennett backed very long trains for me several times. Normally I
would have expected one to go around the loop to position one for a
photo, but Jess just backed it up on that famous S curve on a fairly
high bridge/trestle. I also believe once he positioned a helper with
the main power on that same S curve.
I don't run anything above 25 cars normally, but I can back them most of
the time in most of the places. My spiral is certainly one exception
2.7% grade on a 39" radii curve with a couple of turnouts not to mention
a tunnel. Of course the tunnel has nothing to do with running a train,
but it's a pain to fish out cars when 'things' happen!

One brownie point for each car in the backing train. I doubt there
would be a lot of entrants. The layout in Chicago that Kindraka
mentioned, Winan's layout, Loizeaux's layout, perhaps Karnes' layout.
Has anyone else attempted backing up long trains? The prototype does
it all the time. Just curious....Ed L.
