My first sets were purchased at Gertz Department stores in New York City for Christmas. They were usually special uncatalogued sets such as the Chicago Northwestern pacific and aluminum passenger cars with link couplers. When buying extras with my meager allowance, I went to Nassau Hobby Center in Freeport, NY where I got a Northern used for $25.00. Still have both!
