I am surprised that none of you mentioned Bud Sattler's basement in Westmont, New Jersey. From the late 1940s to 1954, Uncle Bud sold American Flyer trains out of his home basement where I bought my first set in 1952 when I gave up on L for scale trains. In 1954 the Sattler's Trains and Hobbies opened a store in Westmont. All of my American Flyer came from Uncle Bud until I went to college in 1959. Aunt Eleanor Sattler still gave or sold me used American Flyer until she sold the store in 1998.
