hello,

sage just told me to post here. I've tried to "sage -i
gap_packages-4.5.7" and got the following message:

Please email sage-devel (http://groups.google.com/group/sage-devel)
explaining the problem and including the relevant part of the log file
  /Applications/sage/spkg/logs/gap_packages-4.5.7.log
Describe your computer, operating system, etc.
If you want to try to fix the problem yourself, *don't* just cd to
/Applications/sage/spkg/build/gap_packages-4.5.7 and type 'make' or
whatever is appropriate.
Instead, the following commands setup all environment variables
correctly and load a subshell for you to debug the error:
  (cd '/Applications/sage/spkg/build/gap_packages-4.5.7' && '/
Applications/sage/sage' -sh)
When you are done debugging, you can type "exit" to leave the
subshell.

I'm worried by one particular thing: my version of sage is 5.5 and
i've downloaded binaries called

sage-5.5-OSX-64bit-10.6-x86_64-Darwin.dmg

the other choice was sage-5.5-OSX-64bit-10.8-x86_64-Darwin.dmg

but my osx is really neither 10.6 or 10.8, but 10.7.2 ! in the message
above one reads Target: x86_64-apple-darwin10.8.0 and it may be the
cause of the problem.

shall i try to compile sage from source?

thanks!
Pierre
