In fact, it looks like I loose the context of what I said. So I'm not able to
explain it (ouach! that's was definitely not clear enough).

The main problem is the fact than when someone use the homepage, there's no
way for us to know if it uses the standard or not, apart from testing if it is
a standard url.
Indeed, aliases are lost.

(for the texinfo case, well, one should not explicitely configure the address
to something non-standard while he is using the simple standard stuff. It is
pointless).

So, ok, aliases are lost.



We could add a flag to say if the project homepage address is an alias and if
the homepage is managed the way it is by default (may be hard to explain in
the configuration stuff). 
I must say I have many others things on my mind, I forgot all the specifics --
I'll reread the whole thread tomorrow, maybe the night will shed some light
over it.
