RE: (313) Heads up Berlin posse!!!
Hi Aidan 2 replies so far (Roman, Ines, thanks - appreciated) both letting me know there's a M_nus party on at Week12end ( http://www.week-end-berlin.de ) on Friday. Don't think I can go to this as the friend I'm going with is mad for going to Panorama ( http://www.berghain.de ) again. From what I understand we should do this on Friday (it was Friday we were there last time) as this is the night when people go there. Trying to find out if this is right or if Saturday is just the same. Otherwise it's between Maria ( http://www.clubmaria.de ) and Watergate ( http://www.water-gate.de ) Saturday. My friend's friends who we are going with are going at this time for the Transmediale festival ( http://www.transmediale.de ) and Maria have stuff on for this. This looks a more experimental line up - could be good (they Henrik Schwarz on whom I'm in to). Watergate looks better for dancing and looks nice. I'm thinking maybe as nights go on for so long there (we got to Panorama at 9 in the morning last time and left reluctantly at 12:30!) we may do Week12end then Panorama Friday and Maria then Watergate Saturday! As for directions all the clubs (except Week12end who are on Alexanderplatz, where the big TV tower is in the centre) have maps on their sites as do Hardwax ( http://www.hardwax.de ) - my tourist map is carefully marked! I've only been to Hardwax so can't give info on any other shops. If you're around I'm likely to be in there 18:00 to 20:00 Friday. > -Original Message- > From: Aidan O'Doherty [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 31 January 2006 10:17 > > hello francis, > > i am also going to berlin on feb 3 for the weekend. just > wondering if you got any useful info. never been there > before and want to check out legendary club scene. > > also, do you have the address for hardwax? and any other > rekkid shops worth checking out? > > thanks, > aidan > > - Original Message - > From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Thursday, January 26, 2006 6:24 pm > Subject: (313) Heads up Berlin posse!!! > > > What's afoot in your fair city February 3rd to 5th? > > I'm over at that time. In early 90ies attended first underground raves held in Warsaw, and quickly started collecting vinyl and DJing, from the very beginning focusing on not quite popular minimal techno. Eager to escape limitations of standard DJ setup, Jacek soon started producing his own music. After two years of completing gear and experimenting with sounds, his first CD was released in early 1999. Title "Recognition" also became a name of Jacek1s "home" record label. Until now, six vinyl EPs were released, selling out immediately worldwide and bringing rave reviews both as guaranteed, powerful dancefloor techno tools and carefuly crafted, original compositions. At the very base of Jacek`s style lies originality: although inspirations sometimes are obvious, the tracks always manage to retain a very individual edge, keeping with a very special kind of string-driven melancholy over accelerating beats. But artist1s imagination reaches beside dancefloor: recently also some experimental tracks started to surface. Firstly "Item", an EP for Berlin`s prominent magazine De:Bug, and in early 2001 another one, this time "Pocket Control" for blooming Cologne-based Trapez Records. Jacek still plays out as a DJ, although definitely prefers playing live. He appeared several times live with more experimental sets, accompanying artistic performances at Warsaw`s Centre for Contemporary Art or supporting the likes of Mouse On Mars. His sets are often accompanied by advanced visuals, also created by Jacek. Being widely appreciated outside Poland, Jacek tries to stay aside Polish techno scene, doing his thing rather than following current trends. Re: (313) Jacek Sienkiewicz
He's kinda like Hood in a lot of ways, but tends to write in very unusual, yet very emotive (what I imagine as very Polish) keys. He can also go a bit glitchier, but he's generally a lot like good Hood. His brother (and him???) used to be on [313] once upon a time, fact fans. Perhaps he's not that well known because he hasn't strayed too far from his own label??? I think he is more widely recognised on the continent though. He's played at I Love Techno. For what it's worth, Nitzer Ebb are worth putting up with the worst venue in the world to see live, from my experience at least. I know nothing about Mr Sienkiewicz at all. Zilch. All I know is that he's got (to me) one of the coolest names I've ever heard. I don't know why I think it's cool but I do. Now, you Sienkiewicz collectors, maybe you can help me. Firstly can you tell me in a nutshell why you think he's as good as you think he is? Next can you recommend me a record to kick-start my own collection of his records. I got his album on Cocoon a while back and was fairly nonplussed. Just heard clips from Recognition 015, and it's sounding dope. Got 014 last month and am thoroughly in love with "Still Forward ". Arguably as good as anything he's done. 016 is sounding fairly interesting as well, although I've only quickly scanned through it. (313) Jacek Sienkiewicz
Jacek Sienkiewicz (pl) Jacek Sienkiewicz was born in Warsaw in 1976. And music speaks for itself: crafted with soul and passion, this is techno for the future, combining clubby dynamics with deeply original sound design. Re: (313) Kevin Saunderson, a night to forget!
its been at least 4 years since I have personally heard a decent DJ set out of saunderson. he would play stuff that had me wondering if he really was FEELING music anymore... RE: (313) Cyren release? Santonio Echols!
Is Santonio DJ Santone? I always thought he might be. They produce music which sounds very similar in style, atmosphere and other similar intangibles which would make it hard to prove. Still... if he is, there have been a few Santone releases in between the last Santonio one (in the mid 90s I think) and now. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 30 January 2006 22:16 To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) Cyren release? Re: (313) Nitzer Ebb in London..
Just in case anyone is thinking of going to the London show, be warned - the Islington Academy is one of, if not THE, sh!ttiest venue/s I've EVER been to. [EMAIL PROTECTED] layout and the worst sound. On the other hand, good sound might not be so important here... But the beer's not cheap, either! ; ) Anya On 30 Jan 2006, at 18:48, Blaauw, Martijn de wrote: Some news, maybe some on the list might wanna check it out...: 'The very 1st Nitzer Ebb Reunion Show in the UK is confirmed on July 9th.
