You make a good point as well, about ARR's music in Shankar's films.
For that matter even his recent KKS and Boyz did hit the crowd well.
However, one should note that YashRaj,etc are from north. One of my
north indian friend simply hated Shakalaka Baby from Nayak..and it
went on to become a masterpiece of Bombay Dreams. So, it does appear
that the taste of the north indian can differ quite a bit. 

I guess, one might argue that Taal and Lagaan did do weel in north
India. However, it does require a Subash Ghai or Ashutosh Gowariker to
put out the best. And yet, as I pointed out earlier, and still do
believe -- humming Kuch kuch hota hai is easier than Ishq Bina. 

I also find it quite interesting that some of the other ARR fans
believe ARR should give music for YashRaj films, in order to have a
hit. I pity that they don't understand the basic objective of ARR and
his music. I believe ARR will always want to have the opportunity to
experiment and try new things..and that's why rarely does his music
follow a 'same path'. Many people mind find his music repetitive, but
the only repetition is the constant change, IMHO! 

Now, when we consider YashRaj films -- they are the direct opposite
idealogy! They have a formula - love story, rain songs, Switerland,
SRK, emotion scenes, festivals (Karva chauth, Valentine's)..and they
seem to be content with doing that, as long as its a hit. Their
objective is a hit, not a masterpiece of excellence in art. While
ARR's objective is NOT a hit, but a masterpiece! 

Do you think ARR would be able to give gems like Tehzeeb, TLOBS, Bose
-- if the director's objective was just a commercial hit?

Aah..well, if you think ARR should be working with directors like
Sanjay Bhansali or Farah Akhtar -- that could definately make
sense..as these directors try to achieve something beyond a 'formula'
 -- a Black or a Dil Chahta Hai/Lakshya.

Well, enough of writing..and I just awaiting this Thursday for the
release of RDB!!!  (coincedently the initials of one of my other fav
music director!!)

be our first preference always ...well if there is noway u can get your cds
from indonesia.and as far as i know no a r rahman fan can withhold
himself or herself from listening to his music ,

www.musicindianonline , www.raaga.com ( provided its still there)
 we,the fans in our group will try
uploading them for you ..
try your best and if u feel u cant do it by yourself .ask us to upload the
song u want ...

i will always advise to get the original cds ..and if possible the 5.1cds

Te police visit to senthapath'ysa house at the point the kamal 
reflection seen in the mirror. Please this is classic ARR bgm .I have 
the BGM but the prob is i have it ut it is not long enough. Somebody 
can make avaialabe the full version. Prefereably the original guy who 
made the BGMs availabe at the FTP at that time

The starting of the song "ivan thaana" from Saamy (Music: Harris
Jayaraj) is exactly similar to the starting of "Only You"...I mean,
the first 10 seconds are ditto!

[arr] Weren't there supposed to be 10 tracks in RDB?

[Ajit]

The track listing has 9 (much thanks to Rajeev for posting).  Didn't 
Planet M advertise 10 songs?  And the English version of the 
Paatsallah song to me does not count as a separate track.  Oh well, 
we'll find out soon enough.  Is the last track "Ek Omkar Satnam" an 
instrumental track, if anyone knows?

my original intention was  that if  ARR works with  the chopra and

 ariyamalum     5 anniyan     just tell me which do u think is the best of the lot and arrange these five songs according to your preference ..     and i always wanted to tell you fans something .     let me remind u that a r rahman does not want blind fans  he is not going to care their words also .. he will only like those who appreciate his work judging it by quality and not by his name ...   blind fans who say music of  "pudhiya mannargal " is better than   "sindhubhairavi " or "minnale"  just because the letter two does not contain the name of a r r deserve nothing but pure avoidance  we are all educated and we must be sensible .. there is nothing wrong in going mad , eccentrically mad over some songs like "uyire uyire " or " ennavale adi ennavale"  but going mad over some songs like "porotta" is not normal of an educated fan

Dear film music lovers from India and all around the world,

This petition/ signature campaign is aimed to realize something real
to celebrate a very special, unique composer and his wonderful music:
A. R. Rahman.

So far, NOBODY has ever tried to realize, a well-made film documentary
about
A. R. Rahman, his classical works, and his impact on we the listeners,
music-lovers. Nothing exists like this.

We're talking about the greatest, most-famous, down-to-earth composer
of our time. The man who redefined contemporary Indian music and who
is the pride of the entire nation and an idol for millions all over
the world needs no preamble.

It's only off-lately that we can see and hear A.R.Rahman interviewed
by news channels, press, film launch parties, in some documentaries
and special featurettes. But they're always scant 5-6 minute
interviews, sometimes less or sometimes more. Most of these interviews
are replayed over and over again is some or the other channel, and it
just shows the same old thing !

Friends,
How many times have you watched him in an interview with your heart
out, without any interferences. . . ( NONE! would be the answer !!)

Wouldn't it be great to see a 2-hour long documentary dedicated only
to A. R. Rahman? A film documentary that shows all the creative
process of the maestro, from the spotting sessions with the director,
to the final mixing! All this intercut with a career-retrospective
interview. It would be great to see archival footage from old musical
sessions, to see A.R.Rahman at work with directors and musicians,
intercut with clips from films he scored.

All A. R. Rahman fans and film music lovers would simply love to see
something like this.

So, this petition is about :
A VCD-DVD Documentary on A.R.Rahman titled
"A. R. Rahman - The Mozart Of Asia"


If you all do see the way the west markets it's musicians; its just
fabulous. They get the status just as the Director or Actor gets,
Because they value music and know it's importance in cinema. We
A.R.Rahman Fanatics and True Music Lovers, would know what his music
is all about.

His music can change one's life for good. Can you imagine the number
of talented musicians born in this country after 1992- the year a
phenomenon called "A.R.Rahman" rocked the nation ! Can you imagine the
number of people who have been healed through his music ? Can you
imagine the number of musicians he has revived and brought them to
limelight ? Can you imagine, a man of his stature, be a really "Good
Human Being" ? Can you imagine ONE single Mind, Heart And Soul, which
connects to you with the shear power of his music, and puts a smile on
your face?

There can be only one and one, A.R.Rahman. himself ! to achieve all
this at such an early age of his musical journey ! A man, who believes
in god and finds his genius coming through spiritual influences!

This documentary would feature the life and works of A.R.Rahman,
in-depth, in detail. It would feature the experiences of the singers
and musicians he have a new lease of life. It would feature all the
producers, whom he gave their moneys worth. It would feature all the
directors whose vision just got enlightened by A.R.Rahmans soulful
music! It would also feature the imapact of his music on normal people
like us, you and me; it would feature real life stories and miracles,
yes miracles that have occured, but are unseen and unheard of. Last
but not the least, We could hear the great man himself speakSpeak
about his life and music!


This petition is aimed to the people who can realize such an idea and
that are close to A.R.Rahmans camp. Because realizing such a thing
would cost a lot of money, a lot of time for research and it's not an
easy task to do. And only companies and personalities like these have
the means and the money to do it. When a good amount of signatures
will be reached, this petition will be sent to these people and companies.

I hope to generate support from the large film music community all
over INDIA and the world, from fans and professionals, from people who
work in this field and people who simply love his kind of music.

A documentary about A. R. Rahman is not only a good way to celebrate
the Legend, but it's also a great testament for future generations of
film music and cinema lovers. It would be an amazing contribute to
film history and literature too. It would be a motivator for all those
young ang talented budding musicians, singers...and also a normal man.

It's time to honor and pay tribute to A. R. Rahman and his music. And
this is the bare minimum we can do to celebrate a legend who gave, and
is still giving, such wonderful emotions to all of us.

Please each one of you who sign this document, go ahead and get
atleast five more signatures on this petition to make a success.

hida!  in my opinion, only u song was the best song in that album, since that song   composed with a lot of guitar work. parcularly u can listen the bass guitar sond from the start to the end. i would say many composers inspired by this guitar work,  e.g HJ used similar bass guitar work in ondraa rendaa song from kaaka kaaka.  other than guitar sounds, rehman ji's voice suited very much in that song. when listen only uuu oo..  god  how this human things lot diffr=erently.     pravien

awaiting the release of his next Aaru, Suriya says, 'I expected 
Ghajini to make it big. I knew hard work always pays.  However I was 
thrilled at the big response for the movie at Andhra Pradesh. 
Chiranjeevi sir, who distributed the film in Andhra Pradesh 
appreciated me'.

Asked how Aaru is shaping up, Suriya, says, 'It is a different film. 
Though such action-packed movies were released before, Aaru will be 
different and intense action. Interestingly I speak a typical Chennai 
dialect in the movie'.

About his forthcoming movie, Suriya, says, 'after Jillendru oru 
Kadhal, I am doing a movie for Ramgopal Verma, which will be produced 
by Jyothika. After this, I would be doing a movie for director 
Gowtham Menon and then director Vasanth'.

I agree with u Rakesh...     Right now what a r r needs is a really BIG hit in bollywood...& mabye working with one of these guys could provide it to him...& It's much better working with these guys then doing films like Lakeer, DNJAK, Tehzeeb & wasting all the precious & powerfull gems... like all the 3 tracks in DNJAK were gems, which I think are absolutely wasted...did anybody even noticed when this film got released in theaters ?? forget about the music release...     so the point is that these guys (chopras n' johars) market their music really really well & thats what a r r really needs right now...     rakesh - <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:I beg to differ.  The Chopras and Johars are good at connecting

Rang De Basanti to release on January 20th

The release date of Rang De Basanti has been fixed. It will hit theaters on 
January 20th.
Earlier, it was scheduled to release on February 12th. But now January 20th has 
been decided
upon as the perfect date since there are no major Bollywood or Hollywood 
releases at that time.
Apparently, the producers, UTV Motion Pictures, has managed to get great trade 
terms from
distributors. Contrary to media reports, UTV itself will release the film 
overseas. The music
of the film, composed by A.R.Rahman will release this Thursday on Sony Music.

GUYS,

The real deal here is Yash Chopra or Karan are a big
asset themselves as their Productoion houses are
really big, the fact and the matter here is the
goodwill these guys have in the industry which makes
them get any artist, any music director or a good
technician for infact 1/2 their market price bcoz for
these people working in a dharma or yash raj
production is a dream come true but for our boss he
wouldn't work for peanuts just because these guys are
big,our boss is the KING of the music field and he has

I beg to differ.  The Chopras and Johars are good at
connecting with a large majority and this is what Rahman needs more than
anything else.  ARR being the versatile composer that he is can do with
occasionally composing 'simple' soundtracks which are strong in melody but not
necessarily overly experimental.   



I'm not saying that the Chopras and Johars are great
film-makers, but their most recent films like Veer Zaara and Kal Ho Naa Ho were
decent and connected with a large majority of the population.  The respective composers for these films,
(Madan Mohan and SEL) produced a soundtrack which was primarily melody driven
but with a subtle addition of modern sounds.   AR Rahman could have done just the same without necessarily lowering his
usual high standards.In summary, what's so wrong about simple soundtracks with
are driven by melody without being overly experimental?

In stead of these directors, I am dreaming about Rahman's participation
with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Cheran, and the veteran director
Vishwanthan in hindi, tamil, and telugu respectively.  These
people have the ability to bring the best out of rahman.  3 years
back in an interview, Cheran himself told his desire to work with
rahman. "If  I had an opportunity to work with a genius like
rahman, it will increase my value of the movie.  He will be taking
care of his job, so that I can feel a little bit free regarding music
deparment".  I really beg rahman sir to work with these people
rather than working with sj suryah.
