Jaws or NVDA on a terminal server, somehow doable?

Hi,so for my new workplace, we are running into some technical issues that I can't really solve, so I throw this question out to you.The architecture is that we have a central terminal server on which all the software is running, the workers there connect to the servers via raspberrys and create a VPN tunnel to work on the server, win 10 is running on it.I already talked to the technical department and they told me that most of the software I need, things like Jaws, NVDA, Chrome and the mail program can be installed on a local win 10 machine, so that isn't the issue yet. But, there is a database program that can't be installed on a local machine do to licenses, it has to be run on the terminal server. I had the idea of installing jaws or NVDA on the server, activating the virtual sound card and the remote audio services so I could work with that. And here is the question.Are Jaws and or NVDA remote server compatible in any form? If the database program is accessible or not is an intirely different question, it's just if I can install both or one of the screen readers on the terminal server and use it. I would still have my local win 10 notebook on my desk.Greetings Moritz.

To the person saying they managed to play Pokemon with Lion, I'm curious how you did it. I'm guessing a lot of it comes down to having a decent OCR setup more than anything. It doesn't seem to do too well with the gameboy advance games either, though admitedly I haven't tried any of this in Retroarch so yeah there's always that I guess.

I watched a letsplay of this game from start to finish, and I'll do my best to try and stay constructive. One positive thing I can say is that you guys are definitely trying to improve. The quality of your sounds, stories, and voice acting has gone up since the first few releases. Unfortunately, th positivity ends here.Here's the problem. Mechanics wise, the association's games are stuck in a rut. Their mechanics never seem able to move away from bop it style combat, puzzles with way too much hand holding, and simplistic racing.The fighting in particular could have been improved a long time ago. Ever since games like blind gladiator, people have been giving you suggestions on how to do *interesting* combat. I can't even count the times people have made perfectly constructive posts on the forum explaining how to move away from this bop it style hit up/left/right arrow thing. They also gave you plenty of examples of games with good combat mechanics that keep players engaged and make things challenging, without being unbeatable. After this much time, you guys are sort of running out of excuses. You have the feedback, which you constantly ask for and say you will follow it. You have the suggestions, which build off of great combat and racing mechanics. Now you should really add them. I personally have had it up to my neck with hear and react combat. If you're not a complete and total newbie with audio games, you can finish the game without having to heal one single time and without losing a single race. That's now how a game should work. A game should challenge you. If it doesn't, you might as well leave the game part out and just record all the story parts as an audio book.Speaking of racing, there's just no challenge there either. The guy tells you where to go, and you go there. There's no unforseen hazerds, no unexpected changes in the track, nothing to throw you off your game for even a second. Example: One of the racers you race against is said to cheat on every race he drives in. So why doesn't he with yours? That was such a wasted opportunity to make one of the races feel different. You could have introduced a mechanic where your car engine or steering was rigged by the enemy, so it didn't behave in the way you thought it would. If the story allows for it, you have to use opportunities like these. It's literally a game of "hold the arrows I tell you to hold." For some of the racing sections, you appear to be racing in different vehicles. But it doesn't feel, or even sound! that way. It's always the same car even though the story says it isn't.I just have to ask, what happened to the racing system from Audio Speed? I want to be challenged. I want to have to try a track a few times to figure out how to beat it. Then, I want some way like a high score or a best completion time to keep me coming back and trying for higher scores or speeds.I... honestly don't know how to properly end this review. This game is just... more of the same. And at this point, games like these are just holding us back. They're putting a stone in the way of gamers, of devs, and of game accessibility as a whole. We're blind. We're not stupid. We can figure out challenging game mechanics. We can try different ways to solve  problems. We have the cognitive ability to do more than hit an arrow key when we're told to hit it. If I didn't know any better, I'd start feeling insulted at being given games with mechanics like these even after so mant people have given you so much feedback on how to do it better.

Hi,Requesting ID is a really normal thing to ask for. I also use transferwise borderless account. It does charge fees, but it doesn't  mark up the exchange rates and charges a really low fee which is transparently shown.  You need to scan both sides of ID as different jpeg files and upload to their system.

Definitely have items that can heal you, in a mainstream beat em up you'd just pick them up and get health back, for the most part. So no inventory as such.If you pick up a knife, the attack button will of course use that. You either: keep that weapon until it breaks, or you're knocked down, or die, whichever happens first. There are other items like barrels which are one use, I don't know if knives can also be thrown or not. When I had a knife, tapping the attack button kept on using it until I was knocked down, so that's the use I definitely know about.

Hi.My character is Necromenser as the main class, and cleric as the second class. I have lost the motivation because I find it too difficult to get my minions back each time I wanna play. So I might create a new character and just start over once again. I'm just not sure about what combination would work for me. Maybe warrior cleric? @defender,So when we ran out of funding there were a couple options we could have taken.Option 1. Make the game paid, introduce authentication tokens and servers and databases, doing a bunch of key verification checks and so on. Point being, the more that I specifically thought of to make key registration secure enough, the less convenient it would have been for players to register copies of the game.Quite honestly, I had way, way better things to do than keep track of anti-piracy measures.So we went with option 2, which was to set up a campaign where people could choose to support the game if they wanted to. This way, the game was still available to everyone to play and complete. Plus there's the fact that some countries (surprisingly) still don't access to paypal.As for stretch goals, none have really come to mind. Full voiced cut scenes aren't on the priority list since it doesn't exactly feel like it'd fit in very well in a game like this.Apart from music and sound effects, (which are pretty expensive in their own right) we were planning on taking the finished story to an editor such that it could be improved and corrected as needed. There's also voice acting for one, maybe up to 3 additional characters you will occasionally get the chance to play as.One such example would be Alex, after her and her teammates are discovered and she and the team must fight off the soldiers. Still going over the details of that, though we're pretty clear on a vision for that specific scene.Take care,The Phantom Creations team.

Oops, @Aaron wrote a post while one was being composed.Absolutely love the limited use of melee weaponry. We were actually going to do that with ranged weapons as well, and more than likely will.So imagine, if you will, the pmc-44 having a very poor durability. If you didn't allow it time to cool down and fired several dozen rounds in under a minute, yeah, no more pmc-44. Where as your starting weapon would be almost immune to that. Keyword almost.How about a system in where enemies might sometimes be able to yank your current weapon away from you and either break it, or use it against you?That feels like the ultimate evil, but it's something worth considering IMHO.

@38CoPilot is designed for two controllers in the same physical room on the same console.  I believe you can get it working on PC, though I've never seen any explanation as to how.  You can, as @39 stated, use Parsec, though the software is inaccessible with screen readers at the current time.  Once set up and your friend is added though, accepting the connection is a matter of a shortcut key away when the request comes in.You'd also need a Titan 2 if you're playing on a console, but that's a whole other topic entirely.The lag in Parsec is pretty small, it's not quite 0 latency, but it's not far from it.  As for CoPilot, given it's all on one device, the latency is 0.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs used guns and it worked like there's was limited ammo. You have just one round for example and when it is over it is over and your attack is changing from this weapon to the normal attack. That worked pretty great and this is why I love old capcom beat em ups: Simple mechanics but great gameplay and balance.

I think those mines should definitely be tweaked, like you can make it loop a little faster or something. Because 2.2 is really frustrating because either I step on a mine while trying to move and die, or eventually the drones are killing me. It's about inclusivity but also a learning experience for potential devs. If they start laying the groundwork for audio description now, it generates interest, and if people enjoy it there's a possibility more will come in the future, possibly even to games themselves.I would recommend watching the opening to this year's Game Accessibility Conference, GaConf, where Ian Hamilton actually touches upon this, however those streams are quite long, I don't know the name of the segment either, I know some of the segments are on YouTube as just separate videos, but I don't know if Ian's opening seech is, or what it was called. But it is in the day 1 stream.

So I gave 3 scapes a try this morning. Started a new character named Dailan. Got the first piece of the mirror (since it was easy, but nice immersion). Then went to Spetstar Station or whatever it's called, and the game crashed. Logged back on, only to be stuck in some sort of jump room for twenty seconds before I could log in properly. And all my gear was gone. Muddled around the station for a bit, apparently unlocked a locker with a blaster cartridge but it didn't show, then the game crashed again.So, uh, what's the deal? The game cannot be this fucking unstable if people are playing it. Did I get insanely, insanely unlucky, or is there something triggery in that area which makes the game crash?Very much looking to try a warder, by the way.

The answer to this is that you can't, and since VPSs are $5/month or less for a cheap one, you should buy a second one.  Chroot, cgroups, and docker have all had bugs to one sort or another that allow escaping the sandbox.  Additionally, there's no good way to test whether or not it's actually secure, so it might look right but turn out not to be.  The only way to get a secure sandbox is to run a VM, but a vps may or may not let you.Also, in some jurisdictions, combining your personal and business servers may be a way to do something called piercing the corporate veil, which puts you at extra legal liability if something goes wrong, so you should consult with a lawyer or something (unless you're 15, and "company" is actually "I made a blog", in which case you should learn the difference between them).If you just need to run a couple static web sites, you can totally just configure nginx to point at different folders, though something like WordPress gets back to needing sandboxing (WordPress is a bad idea in general and if you need it you should pay someone else to deal with it, but no one around here gets that, so shrug).

Everything should be compatible, but you're probably going to need NVDA Remote or to pay for Jaw's remote desktop support.  Given that this is a corporate environment, Jaws's RDP support is probably your better bet, at least assuming you're connecting over RDP, because I highly doubt the IT people are going to be super thrilled at giving NVDA Remote some firewall exceptions.  The other issue is that you probably need to run some stuff as admin, so if this isn't something like VMWare's cloud solutions and you don't have a very trusting IT department, you may be out of luck.

If the PC server is windows 10, and Citrix is an option, then try installing JAWS pro with the optional Remote Desktop/Citrix® Support on said server. About the only option i can think of at this time. It would cost your work place around $1400. Do not know exzackly how to set that up, but going that rout should not require you trying to rout sound from said server to your desk top. If I understand it right, you most likely will not have to make much of a change if at all. This is one area where FS pretty much has you by your throat per say.

D-Day Beach for the Blind

D-Day Beach for the Blind is an audio only game. Your goal is to get to the other side of the beach, 200m away. To get there you will need to move from cover to cover,  which  can be heard by the pings. How to play:  Your goal is to move towards the sound of gunfire. To get there you will have to move from cover to cover by listening to the directions the next sets of cover are in. You have the ability to 'focus' blocking out the sounds of battle. by right clicking while focusing you can toggle between the closest 4 covers, if you do not hear a sound when rotating though covers it is because one of the closest covers is well behind you so has been filtered in this build.You will start in the lander. It is safe inside of it, however, once you leave it the only place you will be safe when you are in cover, or reach the grass at the other side of the beach. For now this is the win condition. This beta is a test of the focus system and of the ability for players to orient themselves. Some sounds are place holders for this test. Strange iOS/VO Issues

Hi folks,I hope you're all well and staying safe. I'm encountering two very annoying behaviors when using iOS.Whenever media is playing and I access Notification Center and then navigate away from it, VO appears to announce the first element of Notification Center, which is the routed speaker that is playing output, followed by the title of the media that is playing, etc. I have to touch the screen to get its focus back to where I am with respect to the open app. I've been dealing with this since iOS 13, and I'm not sure what could be causing this.Is the scene descriptions setting under VO's verbosity section absent from newer phones? I'm getting sick of hearing "logo, image, night sky" every few swipes.

D-Day Beach for the Blind

D-Day Beach for the Blind is an audio only game. Your goal is to get to the other side of the beach, 200m away. To get there you will need to move from cover to cover,  which  can be heard by the pings. How to play:  Your goal is to move towards the sound of gunfire. To get there you will have to move from cover to cover by listening to the directions the next sets of cover are in. You have the ability to 'focus' blocking out the sounds of battle. by right clicking while focusing you can toggle between the closest 4 covers, if you do not hear a sound when rotating though covers it is because one of the closest covers is well behind you so has been filtered in this build.You will start in the lander. It is safe inside of it, however, once you leave it the only place you will be safe when you are in cover, or reach the grass at the other side of the beach. For now this is the win condition. This beta is a test of the focus system and of the ability for players to orient themselves. Some sounds are place holders for this test. Any feedback regarding these topics is much appreciated.Controls:Move: W forward,  D backwards, A turn left, D turn right.Focus: Hold SpacebarChange Focus: Right Click while, Spacebar is heldShoot: Left ClickReload: RThis is an early build the cover sound will be changed, but is in place for testing. Hello everyone! We are students working on a game where you explore vents above the cells of a prison in order to make an escape plan with the other prisoners.We are currently testing a microphone input system where you are able to prod characters for information by speaking short phrases to them. Funnily enough, I've never felt the need or the desire to go NC for some odd reason.  Done NM and NW both successfully with my main char Nocturnus now closing in on level 37.  Keep in mind this is after messing around for nearly ten years, making a lot of mistakes and not being constantly logged in.  I'm more or less satisfied now, and with the new stuff being added in I think I'll be more or less satisfied for all time with whatever becomes of Nocturnus.  As I've said elsewhere though, it all really comes down to your personal preference and play style, thus I find the NM class rather versatile and flexible.

make sure that the version of Synthizer you've bundled matches the version of Python NVDA is built against.  This is the first potential problem, since presumably pip didn't help you get it in there.You might have deadlocks.  You might have a Synthizer crash.  NVDA from source is probably a good place to start but is a little tricky to get going.  Someone will probably need to connect a debugger to it and see where it's stuck at.There will be a number of stability/performance improvements in a couple weeks.  Probably nothing impactful for what you're doing, but who knows.

tryed this thing out, and gosh!awesome music, nice combos, a bit easy going a i but i'm sure ya can fix it.ok, now, here comes the idea cargo:1. combos. combos could be done with the combination of the numbers 1 2 3 to say, while tab switches to fire arm mode or what ever, and 1 2 and 3 become something like, one shot, small burst and full magazine, woch you could stop by pressing again the 3 key for example.about clips and such, soldiers should probably drop more loot, to say, ammo, medkits so you can heal up, or just rambdom stuf that you could hurl / throw / whatever.2. more possibities in melee. you could get some weapons that would break after a while... idk, a baseball bath with wich you could do a upper swing or a low swing? a knife or sword that could insta kill somebody if you are in rage mode?3. invincibility: instead of having full invincibility so you can fight a whole freakin swarm of a 200 enemies, you could have a maximum amount of enemies that can swarm you, and ya could either jump or duck / dive and slide dowards your enemie to trip it, or disarm it, wich would be really cool.4. explosives: we all know that something like this, where ya find soldiers, trucks, machineguns and lots of fast patched action, has to get  something that goes boom. be it a grenade, a bomb, a mine, or a tank of noss. even making the crates, or some of them have explosive material and when you shoot them they explode and throw shrapnel around? or have the old good beer bottle with alcohol and a cloth, ya all know where i'm going.5. stage 1.3: in stage 1.3 the swarming and need of rage combo is more prominent. instead of having the enemies spawning like crazy wich gets the lag up to crazy levels sometimes, you could have a limit of mobs that can be on screen, cause after a bit while i was on the first truck fending of those poor unarmed buddys down from that the situation was basically crazy witha  crazy amount of lag... talking about 400 ms, 250 at best.6. grappling, throwing, making things go airborn to their death: i know there's that kick thing that goes after 6 hits. but would be fun having a tackle ability, if you run and as soon as you're in range of an enemie you punch it and the momentum you have sends it sky high, that could be a thing. or, making it like in bk where there was friendly fire among the enemies. i mean, having a 2d thing can be difficult to improove, but have enemie fire occasionally hit the enemies them selfes... i mean, 30 people fireing at the same time can hit each other by mistake...8. an idea for something that probably anibody would like: human shield. yes, i've sayd it, human shield. how nice was in those bar fights where you usually see the guy take an other and use it to basically knock the other down? in other words, hurling an enemie against an other to possibly kill the hurled one and knock the other down, could be a nice whay of making melee combat more interesting.9. the punching the air noises. if possible, would like to have some louder swing noises, would make the o crap i just messed up a combo more clear.and finally,10 the enemie sight range. no, not like in b z where it was like enemie saw me, ki, enemie out of sight range, o there's nobody in this world lets just stand here. basically, enemies after you're out of sight range start patrolling the area or something. of course we could talk about a 70 / 80 tiles for sight range, so it isn't just your stereo field.and after that shipment of ideas that i have...11? or not... this is the end of the post acttually.feel free to tell me if this stuf was good, or if my ideas were useless. and best of all, good luck with s s, i'm liking what i heared till now!good day to ya all

@45, I have a lower end computer, and the whole reason I switched from original explorer was because my entire explorer would go unresponsive in pretty much any folder with more than 50 audio or video files. Xplorer2 will very rarely hang for me, but when it does it's only for about a second. Taking advantage of both Tabs and Pains can probably help you out if you're doing large transactions between many folders. Also, I think there's a way to specifically mark multiple files to perform actions on in Xplorer2.

tryed this thing out, and gosh!awesome music, nice combos, a bit easy going a i but i'm sure ya can fix it.ok, now, here comes the idea cargo:1. combos. combos could be done with the combination of the numbers 1 2 3 to say, while tab switches to fire arm mode or what ever, and 1 2 and 3 become something like, one shot, small burst and full magazine, wich you could stop by pressing again the 3 key for example.about clips and such, soldiers should probably drop more loot, to say, ammo, medkits so you can heal up, or just rambdom stuf that you could hurl / throw / whatever.2. more possibities in melee. you could get some weapons that would break after a while... idk, a baseball bath with wich you could do a upper swing or a low swing? a knife or sword that could insta kill somebody if you are in rage mode?3. invincibility: instead of having full invincibility so you can fight a whole freakin swarm of a 200 enemies, you could have a maximum amount of enemies that can swarm you, and ya could either jump or duck / dive and slide dowards your enemie to trip it, or disarm it, wich would be really cool.4. explosives: we all know that something like this, where ya find soldiers, trucks, machineguns and lots of fast patched action, has to get  something that goes boom. be it a grenade, a bomb, a mine, or a tank of noss. even making the crates, or some of them have explosive material and when you shoot them they explode and throw shrapnel around? or have the old good beer bottle with alcohol and a cloth, ya all know where i'm going.5. stage 1.3: in stage 1.3 the swarming and need of rage combo is more prominent. instead of having the enemies spawning like crazy wich gets the lag up to crazy levels sometimes, you could have a limit of mobs that can be on screen, cause after a bit while i was on the first truck fending of those poor unarmed buddys down from that the situation was basically crazy witha  crazy amount of lag... talking about 400 ms, 250 at best.6. grappling, throwing, making things go airborn to their death: i know there's that kick thing that goes after 6 hits. but would be fun having a tackle ability, if you run and as soon as you're in range of an enemie you punch it and the momentum you have sends it sky high, that could be a thing. or, making it like in bk where there was friendly fire among the enemies. i mean, having a 2d thing can be difficult to improove, but have enemie fire occasionally hit the enemies them selfes... i mean, 30 people fireing at the same time can hit each other by mistake...8. an idea for something that probably anibody would like: human shield. yes, i've sayd it, human shield. how nice was in those bar fights where you usually see the guy take an other and use it to basically knock the other down? in other words, hurling an enemie against an other to possibly kill the hurled one and knock the other down, could be a nice whay of making melee combat more interesting.9. the punching the air noises. if possible, would like to have some louder swing noises, would make the o crap i just messed up a combo more clear.and finally,10 the enemie sight range. no, not like in b z where it was like enemie saw me, ki, enemie out of sight range, o there's nobody in this world lets just stand here. basically, enemies after you're out of sight range start patrolling the area or something. of course we could talk about a 70 / 80 tiles for sight range, so it isn't just your stereo field.and after that shipment of ideas that i have...11? or not... this is the end of the post acttually.feel free to tell me if this stuf was good, or if my ideas were useless. and best of all, good luck with s s, i'm liking what i heared till now!good day to ya all

and by the whay, i forgot to say, in the 1 2 3 keys idea, while in melee 1 could be left punch, 2 could be right punch and 3 could be left kick, 4 right kick and idk, you could throw 5 as the grab key? with that you could do a combo sistem to say a 5 1 3 would grab the enemie, punch it and then kicks it in the air? just an idea that i hope ya can pick up

@3This mostly seems fine.  As Amerikranian is saying, you should just try it.  How I would do this is by implementing gravity and velocity and stuff, rather than trying to hack it together with a bunch of booleans.  But that's probably too advanced for you right now.

Post 70 is very interesting. I agree that I3 CPUs aren't bad. I have a machine with an I3-2100 and it works fine. I've always found Celerons to be ridiculously slow, but maybe it has to do with mechanical hard drives, slower RAM, or maybe the patches in Windows 10.I've also found that computers made in 2008 or earlier may or may not run Windows 10 well. My dad found an HP laptop in the trash with an AMD CPU and it ran Windows 10 like absolute garbage! I forget the processor model off the top of my head, but it had 4 GB DDR2 RAM at 667 MHz and a 200 GB platter drive. I even tried running Linux and it still ran like crap. I don't know how much of that was due to the age of the processor, slow RAM, the fact the machine didn't have an SSD, or the Meltdown patches. Either way, it was absolute crap!
