HeartSpeaks Save the Indian Rupee & our Economy

2012-02-04 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

 YOU CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO THE INDIAN ECONOMY BY FOLLOWING FEW SIMPLE
STEPS:-

 Please spare a couple of minutes here for the sake of India.

 I got this article from one of my friends, but it's true. I can see this in
day to day life.

 Here's a small example:-

 Before 12 months 1 US $ = IND Rs 39
 After 12 months, now 1 $ = IND Rs 50

 Do you think US Economy is booming? No, but Indian Economy is Going Down.

 Our economy is in your hands

 INDIAN economy is in a crisis. Our country like many other ASIAN countries,
is undergoing a severe economic crunch. Many INDIAN industries are closing
down. The INDIAN economy is in a crisis and if we do not take proper steps to
control those, we will be in a critical situation.

 More than 30,000 crore rupees of foreign exchange are being siphoned out of
our country on products such as cosmetics, snacks, tea, beverages, etc... which
are grown, produced and consumed here.

 A cold drink that costs only 70 / 80 paisa to produce, is sold for Rs.9 and a
major chunk of profits from these are sent abroad. This is a serious drain on
INDIAN economy.

 We have nothing against Multinational companies, but to protect our own
interests we request everybody to use INDIAN products only atleast for the next
two years. With the rise in petrol prices, if we do not do this, the Rupee will
devalue further and we will end up paying much more for the same products in
the near future.

 What you can do about it?

 1. Buy only products manufactured by WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.
 2. ENROLL as many people as possible for this cause.

 Each individual should become a leader for this awareness. This is the only
way to save our country from severe economic crisis. You don't need to give-up
your lifestyle. You just need to choose an alternate product.

 All categories of products are available from WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.

Good information on - WHY DO SENIOR CITIZENS FALL?

2012-01-28 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Useful reinforcements! Nice article. Well presented, in a nut-shell, even
though many of the reasons and facts are well known to us. Please pass it
on..it may avoid a fall! And that would certainly be worth it!

Elder Health-Why do they fall?
By Dr.Achala Balasuriya MD
Consultant Physician
(Special Interest- Elderly Care medicine)

Falls among elders is a common cause of morbidity , hospitalization ,
disability and death. Nearly a third of the elderly have falls that trigger a
chain of events that usually have them succumb to the situation or leave them
bed-ridden till the end comes. With age, the ability of the body to heal itself
reduces considerably and the immunity drops. The muscles and ligaments tend to
get more lax with bones becoming more brittle and porous. Under these
circumstances, even a trivial looking fall may prove fatal.

Common causes of falls

Reduced muscle strength, coordination and reflexes

Poor sensation in the lower extremities due to diabetes or degenerative
conditions

Poor balance due to neurological diseases, hypothyroidism or ear problems

Poor vision

Postural drop in blood pressure

Seizure disorders

Strokes, transient ischemic attacks

Abnormalities of cardiac rhythm

Multiple medication use

Environmental hazards eg poor lightning ,carpets, rugs, clutter etc

Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a one major risk factor for falls. What is debatable is whether
brittle bones break after a fall, or break when stressed and in turn cause a
fall. In either event, a decrease in bone density contributes to falls and
resultant injuries

Osteoporosis is a condition wherein bones become more porous, less resistant to
stress, and more prone to fractures. Caused by hormonal changes, calcium and
vitamin D deficiency, and a decrease in physical activity, osteoporosis is a
chief cause of fractures in older adults, especially among women.

Prevention Tips
"Eat or drink sufficient calcium. Postmenopausal women need 1,500 mg of calcium
daily. Calcium-rich foods include milk, yoghurt, cheese, fish and shellfish,
selected vegetables such as broccoli, soybeans, tofu and almonds.

"Get sufficient Vitamin D in order to enhance the absorption of calcium into
the bloodstream. Vitamin D is formed naturally in the body after exposure to
sunlight, but some older adults may need a supplement.

"Regularly do weight-bearing exercise.

Lack of Physical Activity
Failure to exercise regularly results in poor muscle tone, decreased strength,
and loss of bone mass and flexibility. All contribute to falls and the severity
of injury due to falls.

Prevention Tips
"Engage regularly (e.g., every other day for about 15 minutes daily) in
exercise designed to increase muscle and bone strength, and to improve balance
and flexibility.

"Undertake daily activities in a safe manner, such as reaching and bending
properly, taking time to recover balance when rising from a chair or bed,
learning the proper way to fall, and learning how to recover after a fall.

"Wear proper fitting, supportive shoes with low heels or rubber soles.

Impaired Vision
Age-related vision diseases can increase the risk of falling. Cataracts and
glaucoma alter older people's depth perception, visual acuity, peripheral
vision and susceptibility to glare. These limitations hinder their ability to
safely negotiate their environment, whether it be in their own home or in a
shopping mall. Young people use visual cues to perceive an imminent fall and
take corrective action. Older adults with visual impairments do not have this
advantage to the same extent.

Prevention Tips
"Have regular checkups by an ophthalmologist to discern the extent of
age-related eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma, macular degeneration
etc.

"Use colour and contrast to define balance-aiding objects in the home (e.g.,
grab bars and handrails).Add contrasting colour strips to first and last steps
to identify change of level.

"Clean eye glasses often to improve visibility.

Medications
People taking multiple medications are at greater risk of falling Sedatives,
anti-depressants, and anti-psychotic drugs can contribute to falls by reducing
mental alertness, worsening balance and gait, and causing drops in systolic
blood pressure while standing.

Prevention Tips
"Know the common side effects of all medications taken.

"Talk with your physician or pharmacist about ways to reduce your chances of
falling by using the lowest effective dosage, regularly assessing the need for
continued medication, and the need for walking aids while taking medications
that affect balance.

"Remove all out-of-date medications and those no longer in use.

Limit intake of alcohol as it may interact with medication

Environmental Hazards
At least one-third of all falls in the elderly involve environmental hazards in
the home. The most co

Daughter's dedication to Dad

2012-01-16 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

14th of October, 2011.

Grand Finale of Pantaloons Femina Miss India (UP)

Moments to go before the 5 finalists are called out.

When the 5 names were announced, they breathed a sigh of relief but it was now
time for the deciding question.
One by one the esteemed judges put forward their tricky questions.
In between all these questions and answers, there was one that won a thousand
hearts that evening.

If it were the last day of your life, who would you spend it with, and why?䠯
one of the judges posed the question to Contestant No. 4.

Contestant No.4: few moments of thought and then came the answer:

Father has a prime role to play in the life of his daughter. He is the first
male that a girl comes across and hence, becomes the role model of her life.
She sees the reflection of men in the rest of the world, through her dad and
often perceives that all men should be like her father. Right from her
childhood to adolescence to adulthood, he plays an influential role in her life.

He is the guide, the saviour, the protector, a friend and most importantly, the
ultimate caretaker, who nourishes her in the loving and protective atmosphere
set by him.
I have seen my daddy assuming multi-faceted role, which keeps changing with the
changing phases of my life.
I would like to dedicate the last day of my life to my Father, and those 24
hours I would want to spend in his company.⼯

What followed was a thundering applause. The Emcee was amazed with the answer
and the applause that followed. Is your lucky father around.⠡ asked the Emcee.
Yes, he is very much there⠃contestant No 4 replied,

Emcee requested the lucky father to please stand up wherever he was. The proud
father stood up and waved his hand. Thousands of eyes turned towards him,
cameras and flashlights moved towards the proud father. And there was another
round of great applause for him. He was touched. He was emotional. He folded
his hands and thanked the crowd for the applause. There were tears in his eyes.
He had received the greatest gift of his life from his daughter.

This is a true story of love, affection and dedication of a Daughter towards
her Dad demonstrated at MB Club, Lucknow.

You may forward this to those who regard the emotional bond of a Daughter and
a Dad.

Good Morning : Anger

2012-01-03 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Good Morning

Buddha and the Abuse

 One day Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young
man came up and began insulting him. "You have no right teaching others," he
shouted. "You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake."

 Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man
"Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to
whom does the gift belong?"

 The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered,
"It would belong to me, because I bought the gift." The Buddha smiled and said,
"That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become
angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You
are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt
yourself."

 "If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and
become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But
when you love others, everyone is happy."

 Now these are the lessons:

 If you are right then there is no need to get angry!!!

 And if you are wrong then you don't have any right to get angry!!

 Patience with family is love,

 Patience with others is respect,

 Patience with self is confidence and

 Patience with GOD is faith.

 Never Think Hard about the PAST, It brings Tears...

 Don't Think more about FUTURE, It brings Fears...

 Live this Moment with a Smile,

Have a Smiling Day

How our Parliamentarians need to be treated!!.......

2011-12-22 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
f
Winds of Change

_*Reform Act of 2011*_

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

Parliamentarians collect a salary while in office but should not receive any
pay when they're out of office.

2. Parliamentarians should purchase their own retirement plans, just as all
Indians do.

3. Parliamentarians should no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Their pay
should be linked to the CPI or 3%, whichever is lower.

4. Parliamentarians should lose their current health care system and
participate in the same health care system as the Indian people.

5. Parliamentarians should equally abide by all laws they impose on the Indian
people.

6. All contracts with past and present Parliamentarians should be void
effective 1/1/12. The Indian people did not make this contract with them.
Parliamentarians made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Parliament is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen
legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three
days for most people (in India) to receive the message. Don't you think it's
time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX Parliamentarians !

If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete. You are one of my
20+ - Please keep it going, and thanks.

Do You Know Ur Value....???

2011-12-20 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Do You Know Ur Value???

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rupee 500 note.

In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this Rupee 500 note?"

Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you
but first let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the note up. He then asked,
"Who still wants it?"Still the hands were up in the air.

"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and
started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all
crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?"

Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson.

No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not
decrease in value. It was still worth Rupee 500/-.. Many times in our lives, we
are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and
the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your
value.You are special. Don't ever forget it! Never let yesterday's
disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams.

"VALUE HAS A VALUE ONLY IF ITS VALUE IS VALUED"

""Never Believe with the lines of your hand predict about your future,because
people who don't have hands also have a future. Believe in yourself""

Sonia Gandhi's Surgery?

2011-08-24 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Sonia Gandhi's Surgery?

---

 Ever wondered why the Congress is so tight lipped about this so called
'surgery'?
 Ever wondred why this shroud of secrecy behind her surgery?
 Ever wondered why Madam Gandhi had to go at this time for surgery?
 And what was the ailment that could not have been attended to by Indian
doctors?

 Ever wondered that she is accompnied by her family members AND NOT A
SINGLE DOCTOR (NOT EVEN HER PERSONAL PHYSICIAN) has accompanied her. Most
unusual!

 If the then Prime MInister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's knees could have been
replaced in Mumbai by a surgeon of Indian origin, why Madam Gandhi needed to go
abroad for her surgery?

 And even Manmohan Singh though a pensioner of the World bank and able to
get free medical treatment in the US, got his heart surgery done in Delhi...

 And has she actually gone to the US or some other country?
 It is strongly suspected that the need for her to go abroad at this time
is linked to the fact that Dr. Subramaniam Swamy's petition for the permission
to prosecute Madam Gandhi (an MP) for corruption charges, pending with the
Prime Minister's Office, has to be decided before the end of August this year.

 Dr. Swamy has given incontrovertible proof of Sonia Gandhi's accounts in
foreign banks, and these cannot be overlooked or ignored.

 Madam Gandhi is actually suffering from an acute enlargement of her
wealth gland. The real surgery for which Madam Gandhi has gone abroad has to do
with the operation of her illegal bank accounts, as time is running out for her
and her cronies.

 That is why even Kalanidhi Maran has disappeared from Chennai and is
 rumoured to have escaped to Zurich.

MIRACLES OF GROWING S.I.P.

2011-08-19 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
Dear Friends

Every common man in India wants o be a crorepati. How a Systematic Investment
Plan (SIP) in Mutual Funds equity scheme can fulfill the dream of every common
man.

Illustration :

Mr. Sunit is a 25yrs old married man. He works as a junior assistant in a
private firm in Mumbai. His salary is Rs.15000/-per month. Although he could
not save much but always dreams of becoming a crorepati. If u think that he is
day dreaming and cannot fulfill his dream then you are certainly wrong. Let's
find out that how he can use Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) to fulfill his
dream.

Sunit will opt for Yearly Growing SIP.

WHAT IS GROWING SIP ?

Growing SIP means the investor will increase the monthly SIP amount by a
certain percentage every year.

For example : If the initial SIP Amount is Rs.1000/- per month & grows 20%
every year, that means :

1st Year the SIP amount is Rs.1000/- per month
2nd Year the SIP amount is Rs.1200/- per month
3rd Year the SIP amount is Rs.1440/- and continues this way every year...

WHY SUNIT IS OPTING FOR GROWING SIP ?

Sunit has a very long term planning of creating wealth. He knows that the way
inflation is growing; a Rs.1000/- SIP amount will have hardly any value after
10 or 15 years later. As he is expecting growth in his salary with time,
therefore he is opting for a Growing Yearly SIP.

Sunit - Age 25 Years
Wants Rs.10,000,000/- in 25 Years
When he will attain the age of 50 Years

Annual % increase is investible amount : 20%

Sunit Expectations of returns 12%

RESULT : Sunit will need to start an SIP of Rs.759/- per month

NON GROWING SIP (FIXED YEARLY SIP) :

Non Growing SIP is a normal SIP where monthly SIP amount remains fixed for the
entire term of the investment.

 Expected Number of Years of SIP
 Returns (%) 5 10 15 20 25 30

 10 129,58149,63824,89913,8128,044
4,809

 12 123,29944,63621,01110,8715,875
3,246

 15 114,49238,02016,224 7,5353,628
1,776

 20 101,31329,04410,466 4,0381,597
 638

SUMMARY :

To get Rs.1crore in 25years Mr. Sunit will require to start a monthly SIP of
Rs.759/- only and will have to increase the same by 20% every year i.e. he will
start a monthly SIP of Rs.759/- in the 1st year, monthly SIP of Rs.910/- in the
2nd Year and so on (with assumed market return of 12%)

If Mr.Sunit wants to invest a fixed SIP amount for the entire tenure (Non
Growing SIP) then to get 1crore in 25 years he will need to do monthly SIP of
Rs.5875/- for 25 years (with assumed market return of 12%) OR Rs.3628/- (with
assumed market return of 15%)

SBI GOLD FUND

2011-08-18 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
Dear All,
As you all may be aware by now SBI Mutual Fund launching a new fund - SBI Gold
Fund on August 22, 2011. SBI Gold Fund is a fund of fund which will invest in
the units of SBI Gold Exchange Traded Scheme (SBI GETS).

Brief on SBI Gold Fund :

The two most important concerns while buying gold are purity and safety (in

launched where investments are made in dematerialized (demat) form. Considering
that dematerialization is a new concept in India and there is very low
penetration of demat accounts amongst Indian investors. This low penetration
has prevented access to gold as an asset class for investors who don't have a
demat account. Continuing our endeavor to provide investors an access to this
investment vehicle, SBI Mutual Fund is launching a SBI Gold Fund. SBI Gold Fund
is an investment avenue for the investors, where investors can invest in gold
( through gold ETF ) without a demat account, This fund also offers the
facility of Systematic investment plan.

FOR THE RAINY DAY

2011-08-03 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
Dear Friends

AN EMERGENCY CORPUS CREATED BY INVESTING IN MUTUAL FUND PLANS WILL COME TO YOUR
RESCUE SHOULD SOMETHING UNTOWARDS HAPPEN

In the world of medicines, different pills with varying formulations and
combinations cater to specific ailments. No single drug is a panacea for all
diseases. Likewise, when it comes to Mutual Funds there are schemes designed to
facilitate the achievement of a particular objective - whether it is saving for
long term goals such as childrens education and your own retirement or saving
for the downpayments for buying a house in a few years. Now just this, MF
Schemes can also be used as a tool for emergency funding. Here we take a look
at how these schemes can help one tide over a financial crisis.

EMERGENCY EVENTS :

Any emergency is marked by two important characteristics : one, it is an event
that is not predictable and, two, it required immediate action. Suffering, a
temporary physical disability or getting a pink slip is an example. At such
time one needs liquid money. Digging into long term savings may not be the best
option as one usually links each investments to a specific goal. Lets look at
which kind of MF schemes can help u save funds for emergency needs.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT FUND :

An emergency fund has to be liquid (Easily and readilyconvertible to cash). So,
liquid MFs which invest in Debt instruments such as treasury bills, commercial
paper and the call money market, and have short maturities are ideal for this
purpose. Return from a liquid funds are usually stable and less volatile. Its
objective is to preserve principal give moderate returns and still offer high
liquidity. There are two reasons why liquid funds are appropriate for emergency
funding. One, the zero exposure to volatile assets, such as equities, keeps
return stable. Two, you can get your funds back within one working day after
making a request for redemption. And that is what matters most during cash
emergencies. An equity fund, or for that matter, the stock market is not the
right place to park your emergency money.
Dull market conditions or low values of your MF Schemes may put your objective
in jeopardy.

THE RIGHT CORPUS SIZE :

Theres no rule as to how much emergency funds one should stack up. As a thumb
rule, 3 - 6 months household expenses are sufficient, though it varies as per
to age. Roughly stating, it is the amount that gives you the confidence to
combat emergencies in your household. If you have created an emergency corpus
that exceeds this by a great margin, it can adversely impact your investment
portfolio.

Those in their 20s and 30s might need more for emergencies - they should aim at
creating an emergency fund for about six months of expenses. Those nearing
retirement might not need as much as they would have reserves. How much you
finally save for the emergency fund depends ultimately on what makes you feel
comfortable. If you are riskaverse you will prefer a large fund of, say a years
salary, if you are open to risk, 3 - 6 months salary would do.

FUNDING :

You do not need to starve yourself to create an emergency fund. Regular
contributions are the key. For instance, if you save 10 percent of your monthly
salary of say Rs.50,000/- in five years you accumulate more than Rs.3lacs.

That should be enough to see you thru a bad patch. Ofcourse, the fund would be
in addition to other safeguards - insurance policies, for instance, that
usually come good over a period of prolonged crisis.

CONCLUSION :

Clearly, a little bit of financial planning can minimise the running from
pillar to post that one has to do in case of an emergency. With an emergency
corpus created by investing in liquid funds you might never even feel the
stress that comes with an untoward incident. These funds, with their good post
tax returns and ease of transaction, are a good bet for cash management during
emergencies.

Crime Is Same

2011-07-08 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Crime is Same

A worried woman went to her Doctor and said :
'Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help!
My baby is not even 1 yr. old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so
close together.'

So the doctor said: 'Ok, and what do you want me to do?'

She said: 'I want you to perform an abortion, and I'm counting on your help
with this.'

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady:
'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you
too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care of
2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could
rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it
doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you
chose the one in your arms.

The lady was horrified and said: 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill
a child!

'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought
maybe that was the best solution. The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made
his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's
already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T ENDORSE ANY POLITICAL
PARTY.

NOR DO I ENDORSE ANY OF WHAT MAYAWATI
IS DOING.

WAS JUST TAKEN ABACK BY RAHUL GANDHI'S
HYPOCRITICAL COMMENT AT THE RECENT FARMER AGITATION IN UTTAR PRADESH.

Rahul Gandhi: "I feel ashamed to call myself an
INDIAN after seeing what has happened here in UP".

PLEASE DON'T BE ASHAMED OF U.P. YET

Please don't be ashamed of Uttar Pradesh yet.
Congress ruled the State for the Majority of the duration Pre Independence to
Post Independence.. from 1939 to 1989 ( barring the Periods of Emergency..
Thanks to your Grand Mom Indira G. and a couple of transitional Governments)

8 out of the total 14 Prime Ministers of India
have been from UP, 6 out of those 8 have been from Congress...

I think your party had more than half a century
and half a Dozen PM's to build a State...

The Reason Mulayam Singh, subsequently came to
Power is because your party
wasn't exactly Gandhian in their dealings in
the State.. So May be If you
look at in totality the present chaos in UP is
the outcome of the glorious
leadership displayed by Congress in UP for
about 50 years!

So Please don't feel ashamed as yet Dear
Rahul.. For Mayawati is only using
the Land Acquisition Bill which your party had
itself used to LOOT the
Farmers many times in the Past!

WHY DIDN'T YOUR PARTY CHANGE THE BILL
WHEN IT WAS IN POWER FOR SO
LONG?

Not that I Endorse what Mayawati is doing..
What Mayawati is doing is Unacceptable..

But the past actions of your party and your
recent comments, puts a
question mark on your INTENT and CONSISTENCY.

YOU REALLY WANT TO FEEL ASHAMED

But don't be disappointed, I would give you
ample reasons to feel ashamed...

You really want to feel Ashamed..?

First Ask Pranab Mukherjee, Why isn't he giving
the details of the account
holders in the Swiss Banks.

Ask your Mother, Who is impeding the
Investigation against Hasan Ali?

Ask her, Who got 60% Kickbacks in the 2G Scam ?

Kalamdi is accused of a Few hundred Crores, Who
Pocketed the Rest in the Common Wealth Games?

Ask Praful Patel what he did to the Indian
Airlines? Why did Air India let
go of the Profitable Routes?

Ask Manmohan Singh. Why/What kept him quiet for
so long?

Who let the BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY Accused go Scot
Free? ( 20,000 People died
in that Tragedy)

Who ordered the State Sponsored Massacre of
SIKHS in 84?

Please read more about, How Indira Gandhi
pushed the Nation Under Emergency
in 1975 - 1977, after the HC declared her
election to Lok Sabha Void!

(I bet She had utmost respect for DEMOCRACY and
JUDICIARY and FREE PRESS)

I guess you know the answers already. So My
question is, Why the Double Standards in Judging Mayawati and members of your
Family and Party?

I condemn Mayawati. But Is She the only one you
feel Ashamed for?

What about the ones close to you? For their
contribution to the Nation's Misery is beyond comparison.

You talk about the Land being taken away from
the Farmers. How many
Suicides have happened under your Parties Rule
in Vidarbha ? Does that Not Ashame You ?

THE 72,000 CRORE LOAN WAIVER

Your Party gave those Farmers a 72,000 Crore
Loan Waiver. Which didn't even reach the Farmers by the way.

So, Why don't you focus on implementing the
policies which your govt. has
undertaken, instead of earning brownie points
by trying to manufacture
consent by bombarding us with pictures of

DO THE MOHINI ACT TO BEAT THE "BHASMASURA" OF INFLATION

2011-04-23 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
Dear Friends

In Hindu mythology, Bhasmasura was demon who, after praying to Lord Shiva
received a boon that anyone whose head he touched with his hand would
immediately turn into ashes (bhasma). Shiva granted this request, but
Bhasmasura, the ungrateful demon that he was attempted to touch the head of
Shiva with his hand. Shiva fled and somehow managed to reach Lord Vishny for
help.

Lord Vishnu took up the disguise of Mohini, beautiful dancer, and appeared in
front of Bhasmasura. Mohini was so exceedingly beautiful that Bhasmasura
immediately fell in love with her. Bhasmasura asked Mohini to marry him. She
told him that she was very fond of dancing, and would marry him only if he
could match her moves identically. Bhasmasura agreed and they started dancing.
Bhasmasura matched the disguised VIshnu's move for move. Smartly then, Mohini
struck a pose where her hand was placed on top of her own head. As Bhasmasura
imitated her, he was tricked into touching his own head and immediately turned
into ashes.

So, how is a mythological story connected to a common man like you and me?
Think about Bhasmasura as the equally deadly, money burning inflation. Like
Shiva who granted the boon to Bhasmasura, who gives inflation the power to
rise? You and me! Inflation is the result of more money choosing fewer goods
leading to a demand and supply disparity. All of us, with our new age salaries
are spending more than ever, leading to a rise in prices and thus a rise in
inflation.

This inflation eats away our purchasing power. So, all that you can buy for
Rs.10,000/- today will cost more tomorrow. Inflation eats away a major part of
returns that your investment generates. So if your Fixed Deposits (FD) gives a
return of 8% and the rate of inflation is 8% you are actually earning nothing
on your investment. Then, how can we defeat this Bhasmasura named Inflation?

Shiva turned to Vishnu for help, whom we do we turn to for safety? Vishnu is
our case in equity/stocks of the same companies that make these goods that we
are buying. Let us see how,

Say, you love the soaps manufactured by a particular company and so does
everyone else you know. The more people buy that soap, the higher the profits
for that company. These profits the company shares in the form of dividend. By
buying even a single share of the company, you can take home a part of this
profit.

Look at a bank, if it is offering good rates for lending and deposits and more
and more people are flocking to it, chances are that it might generate handsome
profits. Buying shares of this bank will ensure a share in profits for you by
means of dividend.

Inflation currently stands at around 8% (March 2011 inflation forecast as per
RBI is 8%) whereas equities have typically given 18-20% returns in the long
term. Even if you take inflation at 6%, 20 years from now something that cost
Rs.10,000/- today will cost Rs.32,071/-. If you invest the same Rs.10,000/- in
a fixed deposit at 8% 20 years from now it will be Rs.46,610/-. Wait, before
you run to the bank, just hold on for a minute while we deduct taxes from those
returns. If you fall in the highest tax bracket of 30%, the figure of
Rs.46.610/- shrinks to Rs.29,736/- less than what inflation did to prices. So
while you thought you will beat inflation, in reality you loose your capital.

Now, if you choose to invest this Rs.10,000/- in equities today, 20 years from
now that money could turn to Rs.1.63 lakh, even at a conservative 15% return.
Very few investment options have the capacity to generate such inflation
crushing returns. And this is the Mohini avtar that will help you kill the
Bhasmasura of Inflation

A MUST READ FOR ALL INDIANS

LETTER TO Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, From Typical mouse from Mumbai

7 Apr 2011

Dear Mrs. Sonia Gandhi
Hello from typical mouse from Mumbai. After Mumbai
attack I had written a letter to Mr. Manmohan Singh, with the hope that at
least once in life time he will behave like Sardar who were always in forefront
of protecting the nation, but he has turn out to be worse than a mouse. I
realize you are the king maker, hence I am addressing this letter to you.
Today you requested Mr Anna Hazare to end his fast.
For last one month Mr. Hazare had been writing to you and PM, none of you even
bothered to reply. Suddenly you realize that every Indian is with him, and that
is the reason you decided to request Mr. Anna Hazare to end his fast.
Let me ask you few simple questions.
Why one of the best presidents that is Dr. Abdul
Kalam was removed? Isn’t it because he had objected to your becoming Prime
minster? In the disguise of giving gift of woman president you selected Mr.
Pratibha Patil, her only qualification is that she used to do dishes for Late
Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Royalty to Gandhi family never goes unrewarded. If you were
concerned with welfare of Indian people you would have selected person like Ms.
Kiran Bedi, but you wanted a perfect rubber stamp just like Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Coming back to issue of corruption.
Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh has destroyed Mumbai. In the
disguise of giving house to homeless he kept on increasing FSI to help
builders, so that all the money can be sent to Delhi & Congress can fight
election. In last eight year prices of flats has increased three times and now
AAM ADAMI cannot even dream of having his own house. Same Vilasrao Deshmukh was
fined Rs 10 laks by Supreme Court for helping money lender who was charging
poor farmer interest of 10% per month that is 120% per year! Instead of taking
action against Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh he was made rural minister. Funds
allotted for rural development is Rs 4 Lakh crore and who could have better
person than Mr. Deshmukh to divert the fund to Delhi?
More than a year has passed. Since Suresh Kalmadhi
‘s role in CWG scam has been exposed. Till today he is roaming free. How long
this drama of CBI interrogations will go on?
Then there is Mr. Rane, minister from Maharashtra.
Mumbai high court has passed severe stricture against him for snatching land
from poorest of poor and giving it to industrial house. Even Mrs. Indira Gandhi
who was never known for her honesty did take action against a former chief

Revision in KYC requirements

2011-01-08 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

 Revision in KYC requirements

 Dear Investor,

 Thank you for investing with Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund.

 As you would be aware, mutual funds are required to formulate
and implement a client identification program as well as verify and maintain
records of the identity and address(es) of investors in accordance with the
Prevention of Money laundering Act, 2002 ('PMLA') and SEBI guidelines.

 Effective January 1, 2011, in addition to the other category
of investors, Know Your Customer (KYC) norms will be mandatory for all resident
individual investors as well (including for the following), irrespective of the
amount of transaction.
 i) Each of the applicants in case of application in joint
names
 ii) POA (Power of Attorney) holder in case of investments
through a POA.
 iii) Guardian in case of investments on behalf of a minor
 iv) Claimant in case of transmission of units on account
of death of existing holder
 KYC shall be mandatory for following transactions effective
January 1, 2011:
a.. New / Additional Purchases
b.. Switch Transactions
c.. New SIP Registrations (including SIP related products)
d.. New STP Registrations (including STP related products
like trigger facilities)
e.. New DTP Registrations (including DTP related products)
 CDSL Ventures Limited (“CVL”) has been appointed by all
mutual funds, including Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, to complete KYC and PAN
verification formalities together on their behalf, hence investors need to
submit their details only once for completion of these formalities across all
mutual funds. Investors are therefore advised to complete KYC / PAN formalities
with CVL at the earliest.

 What do you need to do:-

 1) If you are KYC compliant :

 In case you have completed KYC requirements and not submitted
the acknowledgement to us, kindly submit a copy of acknowledgement along with a
list of folio number(s). The status will be updated in our records, post
verification, which will enable you to transact with us as usual. In case you
have already submitted the KYC acknowledgment to us, we request you to ignore
this communication.

 2) If you are not KYC compliant

 Please submit the duly completed KYC Application Form along
with requisite documents at any designated 'Point of Service' Centres of CVL or
any of the Franklin Templeton Investor Service Centres. Upon receipt and
verification of the same, a KYC Acknowledgement Letter will be allotted to each
applicant. The KYC Acknowledgement is currently being issued free of cost.

 All documents must be submitted in original along with a
self-attested copy. The original will be returned across the counter after
verification. Alternatively, investors may submit copies of the requisite
documents attested by a Notary Public / Gazetted Officer / Manager of a
Scheduled Commercial Bank or Multinational Foreign Banks (Name, Designation and
Seal should be affixed on the copy).

 3) KYC for Micro SIPs and investors residing in Sikkim

 Since PAN is not mandatory for Micro SIPs i.e. up to Rs.50,
000 per year per investor and for investors residing in Sikkim, KYC would be
handled by each AMC separately. Hence, we request these investors to please
contact us for more information or assistance.

 Please note that transactions are liable to be rejected if
KYC requirements as stated above are not completed.

Informative

2011-01-05 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Waitlisted tickets in Indian Rail are very common and so is the frequent delay
in arrivals/departures of trains. Generally it becomes pretty painful to go
online/ call up Indian Rail IVRS again and again to find out our latest PNR
Status/ Train Timings.

Sumeet Sahu (NIT, Surathkal) came up with an innovative idea to get us rid of
this pain, something that reverses who queries the above statuses for us.

www.mypnrstatus.comwill send you FREE SMS Alerts periodically whenever your PNR
status changes or there is a change in your train timing.

You just need to key in your PNR number and your mobile number on the website
once to avail this facility.

Notice from Praveen Sood (Additional Commissioner for Traffic,Mumbai) - 022 - 22942276.

2010-07-27 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Subject: Notice from Praveen Sood (Additional Commissioner for Traffic,
Mumbai) - 022 - 22942276.

Dear All,

Please forward this mail as many as you can..do your bit for to help the
ignorant.

Take a printout of this and keep it in your car's glove compartment.

May come handy... Not knowing this may leave a big hole in your pocket.

Information you should have: If you are getting caught quite often by traffic
police, then please read on.

>From now onwards, the Traffic Police cannot catch a motorist just to examine
>the driving license or vehicle documents.

They can catch you only if you have violated any traffic laws or if you are
driving drunk. Remember that when caught for traffic violation, the fine you
pay must be limited to the violation. In other words, the police can't bloat
the bill saying that you have no insurance cover or emission certificate, etc.

Many motorists do not know this. According to the law, no policeman can slap a
penalty on you just because you have no insurance or emission certificate.

If you have not purchased insurance cover for your vehicle, then the police
officer must issue a notice, not impose penalty.

You must be given 15 days' time to purchase insurance cover and one week for
obtaining the emission certificate.

Days later, meet the sub-inspector at his station with the insurance cover or
emission certificate, so that he will annul the charge at once.

Police can fine you only if you fail to produce these documents within the
stipulated period.

If your vehicle is brand new, then you need not bother about obtaining the
emission certificate for one full year.

In response to a question as to why policemen fine people instantly without
giving them time to obtain insurance cover or emission certificate, Additional
Commissioner for Traffic Praveen Soodsaid, "Yes, it is a mistake. People
must force policemen to issue notice or complain to me at least the following
day.”

The best way to teach the police a lesson is by filing a written complaint with
their higher officials and, a week later, using the Right to Information Act
(RTI) to know the action taken against them. Remember, any question or
application filed under RTI cannot be ignored and no official is bold enough to
ignore the RTI Act.

Praveen Sood
(Additional Commissioner for Traffic, Mumbai)

022 - 22942276.

Breathing Therapy (Very Helpful)

2010-06-16 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Breathing Therapy

The nose has a left and a right side; we use both to inhale and exhale.

Actually they are different; you would be able to feel the difference.
The right side represents the sun, left side represents the moon.
During a headache, try to close your right nose and use your left nose to
breathe.

In about 5 Mins, your headache will go?

If you feel tired, just reverse, close your left nose and breathe through your
right nose.
After a while, you will feel your mind is refreshed.

Right side belongs to 'hot', so it gets heated up easily, left side belongs to
'cold'.

Most females breathe with their left noses, so they get "cooled off" faster.

Most of the guys breathe with their right noses, they get worked up.

Breathing Therapy Makes u Relax

Do you notice the moment we wake up, which side breathes faster? Left or right?
?

If left is faster, you will feel tired.

So, close your left nose and use your right nose for breathing, you will get
refreshed quickly.

This can be taught to kids, but it is more effective when practiced by adults.

My friend used to have bad headaches and was always visiting the doctor.

There was this period when he suffered headache literally every night, unable
to study.

He took painkillers, did not work.

He decided to try out the breathing therapy here: closed his right nose and
breathed through his left nose.

In less than a week, his headaches were gone! He continued the exercise for one
month.

This alternative natural therapy without medication is something that he has
experienced.

So, why not give it a try?

Modern Banking Explained

2010-06-05 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

A.) Bankers take more money from People and return less
B.) Bankers take even more money from People and return even less
C.) Bankers take HUGE amount of money from People and return nothing

The above steps are further explained below:

1.) There are two types of people in the world - The Bankers and The People
2.) The Bankers are smart, The People are stupid
3.) People earn money by getting paid for hard work or selling something they
have (businesses).
4.) Bankers earn money by taking more money from people and giving them back
less money, they call this 'interest'
(People keep their money in the bank on 2-3% interest, People take loans from
the bank on 14-16% interest)
5.) Once the Bankers have a steady stream of money from the People as given in
'4', they get bored and they decide to fool the people some more
6.) The Bankers now come up with 'financial products' so that the People will
give them more money thinking that they'll make more money (high return, more
interest)
7.) The Bankers now give this money to people who'll not be able to pay back
the high return, more interest
8.) The Bankers declare a "financial crisis" keeping all the focus on the
people who didn't pay back the high interest (which was always unrealistic)
9.) The Bankers then take more money from the People (Bailouts) to compensate
for the defaulted loans
10.) The Bankers don't have to repay this money to the people whom it was taken
from because they have been told that their 'financial products' are now bust.

Now to Grades of stupidity of people

1st grade - these people pay their taxes and put the rest of their earnings in
the bank

2nd grade - these people pay their taxes and put the rest of their earnings in
the bank in bank schemes (FDs, etc)

3rd grade - these people pay their taxes and put the rest of their earnings in
the bank in bank schemes (FDs, etc) and then take loans from the bank

4th grade - these people pay their taxes and put the rest of their earnings in
the bank in bank schemes (FDs, etc) and then take loans from the bank and
support bailouts for banks since there is a 'financial crisis'

5th grade - these people pay their taxes and put the rest of their earnings in
the bank in bank schemes (FDs, etc) and then take loans from the bank and
support bailouts for banks since there is a 'financial crisis', and stop
spending and put even more money in the bank because there is a 'financial
crisis'

I am currently in the 1st grade of stupidity, when this "financial crisis" gets
better, I'll make more money and proceed to the next grades of stupidity, I
hope I can cover all the grades in one lifetime, then I can be a successful
man, I've always wanted to do something with my life, and I'll work very hard
to achieve 'something' in life.

FIFA World Cup - Trivia and Excel file

2010-06-03 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Cricket fever is over…. Move on to FIFA…!!!

FIFA World Cup is undisputed BIGGEST sports event in the world…!!!

Get all the details in attached file…. its time to say……
G!!!

Some Interesting Facts:

·The only unbeaten team at the 1974 World Cup was Scotland, despite
which, they still went out in the first round as their goal difference, from
their one win and two draws, was less than both Yugoslavia and Brazil

·The youngest player to appear at the World Cup was Norman Whiteside
who was 17 years and 41 days old when he took the field for Northern Ireland
versus Yugoslavia in 1982

·The youngest player to appear in the World Cup Final was Pele who was
17 years and 249 days old when he was part of the Brazil team who beat Sweden
5-2 in 1958

·The shortest World Cup career goes to Marcelo Trobbiani of Argentina
who spent a grand total of just one minute on the pitch after coming on as a
substitute in the 1986 final. It was his only ever appearance at the World Cup

·England’s third goal in the 1966 final, irrespective of what some
believe, did not cross the line and should not have counted as a goal

·The 500th goal in the World Cup finals was scored by Bobby Collins of
Scotland during their 3-2 defeat against Paraguay in 1958.

·Roger Milla, of Cameroon, is the oldest player to feature at the World
Cup, he was 42 years and 39 days old when he played against Russia in 1994. He
also scored that day to become the oldest goal scorer. Worryingly, a member of
the Cameroon delegation claimed that Milla was actually over 46

·The first example of a father selecting his son to play at the World
Cup happened in 1966 when Uruguay coach Ondino Viera selected son Milton Viera

·The only time that East Germany met West Germany in a game of
football happened at the 1974 World Cup. East Germany ran out 1-0 victors; West
Germany went on to win the World Cup that year

·Belgium’s first choice goalkeeper at the 1982 World Cup was
Jean-Marie Pfaff but, because of a misdemeanour, he was dropped after their
third game. He was replaced by Theo Custers for the next game, but after they
had lost by 3 goals to Poland he was never capped again – quite literally
‘Custers’ last stand’

·One of the big stars of the 1990 World Cup was Rene Higuita, the
Colombia goalkeeper. He would have been one of the big stars of the 1994 World
Cup but missed out because he was in jail on charges of kidnapping

·The only player to appear at the World Cup finals whilst playing for
an Irish club was Patrick Joseph ‘Felix’ Healey. He played for Northern Ireland
in 1982 while employed with Irish club Coleraine

·The first World Cup match to be televised was the Hungary versus
Brazil match on 27th June 1954. Hungary won 4-2

·Juan Ignacio Basaguren became the first substitute to score in the
World Cup finals when he put the ball in the back of the net during Mexico’s
4-0 victory against El Salvador in 1970

·During the 1990 World Cup, the Italian goalkeeper Walter Zenga went
an impressive 517 minutes without conceding a goal

·Bolivia had to wait a total of 64 years for their first goal at the
World Cup finals. They first appeared at the World Cup in 1930 and didn’t
qualify again until 1994; Erwin Sanchez scored the goal in a 3-1 loss to Spain

·When Brazil took to the field against Yugoslavia at the 1930 World
Cup, they did so with a total of 10 players who had never been capped before.
Four years later Argentina fielded 10 new caps against Sweden

·There was a grand total of 28 red cards dished out at the 2006 World
Cup. On the subject of red cards, Argentina’s Claudio Caniggia was sent off at
the 2002 World Cup despite not actually playing

·Emerson, who was captain of Brazil, missed out on the 2002 World Cup
after damaging his shoulder while ‘mucking’ about during training

·Scotland have qualified for the World Cup finals on 8 occasions; they
have never qualified through from the first rounds. Pretty poor showing but
they did score one of the best World Cup goals ever – every cloud has a silver
lining

Some Statistics:

·Most red cards shown in a World Cup match: 3. This has happened twice
(Hungary v Brazil on 27 June 1954 and South Africa v Denmark on 18 Jun 1998)

·5 Goals scored by Russia's Oleg Salenko against Cameroon in 1994, a
record for a single World Cup match

·10 is the highest number of goals scored by a team in a World Cup
match (Hungary vs El Salvador 1982: 10-1)

·12 is the highest number of goals scored in a single World Cup match,

What are Kidney stones?

2010-06-03 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Kidney stones are one of the most painful disorders that affect humans. Kidney
stones are solid masses of mineral salt deposits that are normally filtered
through the kidney and emptied via urine. Urine has a natural substance, which
dissolves these minerals, thereby preventing them into becoming solids or
calculi. Sometimes due to dehydration, these salts don’t get dissolved and
crystallization takes place. It grows large enough to obstruct the renal ducts
or stuck in the uterus, causing sharp and severe pain in the urinary tract.
Untreated, kidney stones can cause renal failure.

Common Causes of Kidney stones
• Urinary tract infection (UTI)
• Overdoses of Vitamin D
• Mineral imbalance
• Kidney disease
• Dehydration
• Gout
• Diet

Home Remedies for HOARSENESS

2010-05-26 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

a.. HOARSENESS

Hoarseness Prevention & Treatment Tips

What is hoarseness?
Hoarseness is a general term that describes abnormal voice changes.
Those who use their voices a great deal, or have to speak loudly most of the
time, often" suffer from hoarseness. When hoarse, the voice may sound breathy,
raspy, strained, or there may be changes in volume (loudness) or pitch (how
high or low the voice is). The changes in sound are usually due to disorders
related to the vocal folds which are the sound producing parts of the voice box
(larynx). While breathing, the vocal folds remain apart. When speaking or
singing, they come together, and as air leaves the lungs, they vibrate,
producing sound. The more tightly the vocal folds are held and the smaller the
vocal folds, the more rapidly they vibrate. More rapid vibration makes a higher
voice pitch. Swelling or lumps on the vocal folds prevent them from coming
together properly, which makes a change in the voice.

What are the causes of hoarseness?
Any infection of the throat, especially in the area of the larynx
(voice box), will cause hoarseness, if there is any external swelling in the
region of the throat, with no complaints suggestive of throat infection, it
must be immediately investigated. Often, in the case of a benign or malignant
growth in the thyroid glands (these are situated in front of the voice box),
there may be some pressure being exerted on the nerve supplying the muscles of
the larynx. This results in hoarseness, which must never be taken lightly or
neglected. Some of common causes are :
Smoking.
Gastroesophageal reflux.
Thyroid problems.
Allergies in throat.

What are the symptoms?
Some of common symptoms of hoarseness includes :
Pain in throat.
Harsh sound to the voice.
Rough voice.
Total loss of voice.

Natural home remedies for the treatment of hoarseness.
Take a white turnip. Slice it in circles horizontally and apply honey
to the circles. Now sandwich them together. Hold firmly, arid slice
longitudinally, apply honey again, and then tie them together with a clean,
washed threadnot too tight, just tightly enough to hold the pieces together.
Pour some more honey over them. Leave for 12-14 hours. The turnip-honey syrup
will collect at the bottom of the cup. A teaspoon of this, taken thrice a day
with warm water, gives remarkable relief. Even gargling with water in which
turnips have been boiled is efficacious.
Alternatively, a teaspoonful of onion juice, mixed with a teaspoonful
of honey, is equally beneficial.
Gargle with an infusion of a teaspoon each of powdered cinnamon and
cardamom, mixed with a glassful of water.
For relief from a chronic throat irritation, soak 2-3 dried figs and
2-3 almonds in a cup of warm water for 2-3 hours. The outer skin of the almonds
softens. Remove it. Grind the almonds and figs to a fine paste. Add a teaspoon
of honey to it, and drink it with a cup of warm water at bedtime. It is
delicious with hot milk, but perhaps a little fattening for people who need to
watch their weight.
Gargle with an infusion of fennel-a teaspoon to a glass of water .
Take equal quantities of liquorices and lump sugar. Grind them together
and bottle the mixture. Take one-fourth to half a teaspoon at a time. Keep in
the mouth, let the saliva mix with it, and swallow it slowly, a little at a
time. It soothes the throat and is excellent for hoarseness of the voice. If
one does not dislike the pungency of black pepper, an equal amount of it can be
added. However, some find it too pungent and an irritant, instead of soothing.

What are the prevention?

b.. Some of the common prevention tips for hoarseness includes:
c.. Quit smoking.
d.. Drink plenty of water.
e.. Don't speak too long and loudly.
f.. Seek professional voice training.
g.. Avoid speaking or singing when your voice is injured or hoarse.
h.. Avoid drinks which have alcohol and caffeine.

Digital Camera Guide

2010-05-19 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

-- Digital Camera Guide

So, it's time for a digital camera huh? Well, buying one can be more than a
little difficult. What types of features should you look for? Well, this guide
will tell you that plus get you a little more familiar with what these cameras
are capable of.

Megapixels
When it comes to megapixels, the more the better. I recommend a minimum of 2,
but 3 or 4 is great. We did a test to see if a camera with 2.3 megapixels
(actually 1.92 - 1600 x 1200) could produce a good quality 8x10.

Turns out it can, if you have the right paper and printer. We used HP Premium
Plus photo paper with an HP 970 series printer and made a fantastic 8 x 10.
Remember, I was a professional photographer before I got into computing, so I
know a good print when I see it :-)

The resolution at 8x10 (we had to crop in to make the picture proportional to
8x10) was only 150 DPI. Most printers would not make a real good 8x10 at that
resolution, but this one did. So, if you want to be sure you can get good 8 x
10s, you may want to go with a 3 megapixel camera or better (that gives you
around 200 DPI at 8x10 size, still not quite the optimum 300 DPI, but it looks
good with the right printer).

Optical vs Digital Zoom
You've probably noticed that most digital cameras have both a specification for
digital and optical zoom. Pay the most attention to the optical zoom.

The optical zoom magnifies (zooms in) using glass. The digital zoom basically
crops out the edge of the picture to make the subject appear closer, causing
you to lose resolution or to get an interpolated resolution (i.e. the camera
adds pixels). Neither of which help image quality.

Finally, make sure you get enough (optical) zoom. A 2x zoom isn't going to do
much for you. A 3x is the average you'll find in most digital cameras will
probably be good for most uses. More on lenses later.

Connection
How does the camera connect to your computer? If you have a USB port in your
computer, you'll want a camera that can connect via USB as opposed to a slow
serial connection.

On the other hand, if your computer doesn't have a USB port, is there a serial
connector available for the camera you're looking at? If so, is it a special
order and how long does it take to get it?

Storage
What does the camera use to store images with? If it uses a memory stick, make
sure you consider buying additional sticks when you get your camera. A typical
8 meg memory stick that comes with a 2 megapixel camera only holds 5 or 6
images at the camera's best quality.

Some cameras use a 3.5 inch disk for storage. Be careful of these!
Although it may sound like a good idea, a 3 megapixel camera at high resolution
produces a 1 meg file (compressed!). That's only 1 picture per disk.

Here's a few more things to look out for when trying to make your digital
camera purchase.

Picture Formats
When you're trying to decide on which digital camera to get, check and see how
many different picture formats it supports.

You want something that can produce both uncompressed (usually TIFF) and
compressed (usually JPEG) images. I personally use the high quality JPEG
setting on my camera for most of my shooting. TIFFs are just too big and the
difference in quality is not ascertainable by mere mortals.

You also want to be able to shoot at a lower resolution than the camera's
maximum. That way, If you're running short on memory, you can squeeze a few
more shots on your memory stick.

Auxiliary Lens / Flash
This was a biggie for me. While a 3x zoom may work for the "average" user, I
needed something that allowed me to do some wide angle work as well as have a
good telephoto lens.

So, the camera I purchased a few months back was a Nikon Coolpix 990 (note that
this isn't the only camera that can accept lenses). It has auxiliary lenses
that screw into the filter ring on the front of the lens. I now have an
ultra-wide fisheye lens plus a nice telephoto.

In addition to lenses, I wanted a good flash. The flash that is built into most
of these cameras gives you a top range of 15-20 feet - at best. I wanted a
camera that could take a powerful auxiliary flash (again, the Nikon isn't the
only camera that fits this requirement, but I liked it better than the rest).
If you need more reach than the small built in flash can deliver, then make
sure you can attach an external flash to any camera you consider.

As an added bonus, if you get a camera that can take an external flash, you can
place that flash on a bracket and eliminate red-eye.

Flash Distance
Speaking of flashes, make sure you check the distance the built in flash is
good for. You don't want a camera with a wimpy flash that only travels a few
feet (well, unless you can get an external flash for it as described above).

Battery Type
This may not sound important, but it is. Anyone who owns a digital camera can
tell you they eat batteries the way a sumo wrestler eats at a buffet.

Make sure the camera can run on

Amazing ... MUST see ...

2010-05-08 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Be sure to read this write up before you open
the performance - you'll probably re-read it after seeing the video, then
watch it again.it is astonishing!!!

This video shows the winner of 2009's
"Ukraine's Got Talent", Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of pictures on
an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the
German invasion during World War II. Her talent, which admittedly is a strange
one, is mesmeric to watch.

The images, projected onto a large screen,
moved many in the audience to tears and she won the top prize of about $75,000.

She begins by creating a scene showing a couple
sitting holding hands on a bench under a starry sky, but then warplanes appear
and the happy scene is obliterated.

It is replaced by a woman's face crying, but
then a baby arrives and the woman smiles again. Once again war returns and Miss
Simonova throws the sand into chaos from which a young woman's face appears.

She quickly becomes an old widow, her face
wrinkled and sad, before the image turns into a monument to an Unknown Soldier.

This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window
as if the viewer is looking out on the monument from within a house.

In the final scene, a mother and child appear
inside and a man standing outside, with his hands pressed against the glass,
saying goodbye.

The Great Patriotic War, as it is called in
Ukraine , resulted in one in four of the population being killed with eight to
11 million deaths out of a population of 42 million.

One art critic said:
"I find it difficult enough to create art using
paper and pencils or paintbrushes, but using sand and fingers is beyond me. The
art, especially when the war is used as the subject matter, even brings some
audience members to tears. And there's surely no bigger compliment.."

Dutch Linear Clock (must see)

Assunto: Dutch Linear Clock

Dutch Linear Clock

This is a different way to display time on the green time line.
It's a really interesting clock! It comes from a Dutch web site. Here is what
you will see when you look at this clock:

Don't do anything. It's automatically adjusted to your time zone.
Just look at it and study it. It gives you the EXACT TIME of the DAY in
seconds, minutes, hours, the day, month and year.

Just read the green line. Everything's there. Study it for a few
seconds and it will all become clear to you.

Remember these definitions:

1st Line is Seconds

2nd Line is Minutes

3rd line is Hours.

4th Line is Days

5th Line is Months

6th Line is Years

This is the COOLEST clock I have seen yet!!

Good Morning : Happy Vishu / Varsha Pirappu / Happy New Year

2010-04-13 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

Vishu is the New Year of Malayalis - it is the astronomical or zodiac New Year
in Kerala and is observed on the first day of the Malayalam month of 'medam.'
In 2010, the date of Vishu is April 15. Historically the festival is closely
associated with the agrarian economy of Kerala - a state is the southern part
of India. The highlight of the festival is Vishukani, Vishukaineetam and
Vishubhalam.

Please note that in 2010, Medam 1 is marked on April 14 but Vishu is celebrated
on April 15. This is because the Surya Sankramana takes place late on April 14.

The Vishu day celebrations begin with the 'Vishukani.' 'Vishu Kani' is the
first auspicious thing that people see on the day and this takes place during
the Brahma Muhurta or ideally between 0400 hrs and 0600 hrs.

The 'Vishukani' is usually prepared on the night before the Vishu day.
Immediately on awakening from sleep, people close their eyes and proceed
towards the place where Vishukani is placed. This is known as Kani Kanal - kani
means 'that which is seen first.'

Vishukani consists of rice, kasavu mundu (traditional cloth of Kerala), gold,
silver, coins, mirror (usually Aranmula Kannadi or mirror with a tail),
cucumber, mango, jackfruit, coconut, banana, and Kanikonna (yellow flower known
as Indian Laburnum). The Vishukani is exhibited in an 'urali' - a traditional
vessel of Kerala. It is placed in front of an idol or portrait of Lord Krishna.
Traditional Kerala lamp is lit near it.

Then, the eldest member in the family gives 'Vishukaineetam' to the family
members. The Vishukaineetam is usually coins but nowadays people also prefer
other expensive gifts. Hindus then worship at nearby Sri Krishna temples.

Vegetarian food, consisting of traditional Kerala fare, is prepared on the day
and includes the mouthwatering 'payasam.'

>From an astrological point of view, Vishu is of immense significance. The day
>and night are of equal duration on the Vishu day (12 hours). 'Vishubhalam' or
>the predictions for the next year is read on the day.

The preparation for next agricultural season begins on the Vishu day. Earlier,
farmers used to plough the land on this day and it was referred as
'Vishupootu.'

It must be noted that Vishu is not the first day in the regional solar calendar
followed in Kerala. The Malayalam Calendar begins in Chingam (August).

Vishukani, or Vishukkani, is an assortment of auspicious things that is viewed
when one opens one's eyes on the day of Vishu festival. 'Kani' means 'that
which is seen first.' And Vishukani, that which is seen first on Vishu, is an
indispensable part of this Kerala festival. Vishu is the Zodiac New Year in
Kerala. The list of auspicious items varies from region to region and most
often depends on the availability of the item.

How to arrange Vishukani

Ashtamangalyam, eight auspicious things, are a must for Vishu. This includes:

 a.. A large vessel called Uruli made of panchaloham - five metals - or normal
Uruli or clean tray.
 b.. Tamboolam - Betel leaves
 c.. Akshatam - a mixture of rice and turmeric
 d.. Dharu cheppu - Kumukumam in a small container
 e.. Grantham - Book usually Bhagavad Gita
 f.. Darpanam - Mirror usually Aranmula kanadi
 g.. Ambaram - Cloth - A nice clean traditional Kerala mundu (Kodi mundu)
 h.. Kramugam: Betel nut

The Ashtamangalyam is common in the arrangement of Vishukani in various regions.

 a.. Next most important item on the list is the Kanikonna, a yellow color
flower found throughout Kerala during the Vishu season.

Most people are ready to give a miss to most items in the long Vishukani list
but not the Kanikonna. It is a must for all people.

Fruits and Vegetables

 a.. Mango fruit along with its small branches and leaves
 b.. Two or more Coconuts with its branch (Thenga Kula)
 c.. At least two Cashew nuts along with small branches and leaves
 d.. Small jackfruit (idichakka)
 e.. Pineapple
 f.. Golden colored cucumber (Kani Vellari)
 g.. Bananas
 h.. And other fresh vegetables

Metals

 a.. Gold
 b.. Coins
 c.. Nirapara (A measuring vessel filled with un-husked rice)
 d.. Kindi (A traditional vessel with a tail used to keep water)
Those people who do not have an uruli usually use any clean tray.

The auspicious items are kept in front of an idol of Lord Krishna. The items
are either placed in an uruli or sliver plate. Items that don't fit into the
tray or uruli are placed nearby. Traditional Kerala lamp - Nila Vilakku - is
lit.

In some places the traditional Kerala mundu is made into a fan shape and is
inserted in the Kindi. The mirror is also inserted in it.

The Vishukani is arranged on the previous night. Usually the eldest female
member in the family sleeps in the room in which the Vishukani is prepared. She
wakes up early in the morning and lights the lamp (between 4 am and 6 am). She
then closes the eyes of each person in the family and guides each person to the
Vishu

Dear Investors,

fund. The fund helps you save tax and at the same time maintain a low exposure
to equity. If you are a diehard fan of tax saving instruments with low risk
appetite, this one can be a good option. The fund is a good tax saving option
for those who are in the last few years of their working life. If you are
approaching retirement, you can redeem your existing ELSS investments and
invest in this fund, so that you need not have to commit fresh funds for tax
saving purpose. On the flip side, the funds performance over short to medium
term is not exciting. Investors must keep this thing in mind before commiting
their money in this fund.

WHY INVEST : TAX SAVING BY INVESTING IN A LOW RISK DEBT ORIENTED MUTUAL FUND

WHY NOT INVEST : The Fund performance in the recent past is not good.

Cheapest Currencies in the World ```

2010-02-25 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd

You can plan to visit these countries

``` Cheapest Currencies in the World ```
 Would you like to be a billionaire?
 If yes, it's easy, just move to any of the countries below.
 ZIMBABWE
 Zimbabwe Dollar 1,000,000,000 = US $2.64
 Zimbabwe as an example, this country's entire population of
over 12,500,000 are billionaires. In fact, many are trillionaires, or even
quadrillionaires. in case you're unfamiliar with "quadrillions, " a quadrillion
is a million billion, or a 1 followed by 15 zeros. The least valued currency
unit is the currency in which a single unit buys the least number of any given
other currency or the smallest amount of a given good. Most commonly, the
calculation is made against a major reserve currency such as the euro (EUR) or
the United States dollar (USD).
 As Americans worry about the rate of inflation exceeding 4
percent, we should consider Zimbabwe, where the inflation rate broke the
shocking 230,500,000% mark and the country released a 100 trillion dollar note.
 VIETNAM
 Vietnam Dong 100,000 = US $5.37
 An early-1980's U.S. embargo hobbled exports, leading to
price controls and the printing of excess currency. Early this month, the
Vietnamese dong rate in the black market has strengthened towards the official
level after the government released more dollars into the economy and cracked
down on state banks' currency transactions, which traded at 18,621 per dollar.
 INDONESIA
 Indonesian Rupiah 100,000 = US $10.71
 During the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the rupiah lost 80
percent of its value within months, sparking riots in Jakarta (and soon ending
President Suharto's 32-year rule). From the years 2000 to 2008, the exchange
rate has generally been between 8,000 and 11,000 rupiah to one United States
dollar. As of February 2010, one US dollar is worth approximately 9,335
Indonesian rupiah.
 IRAN
 Iran Rial 100,000 = US $10.11
 Since the 1979 revolution, Iran's inflation rate has hovered
around 15 percent, thanks in part to ever-rising oil prices.
 Until 2002, Iran's exchange rate system was based on a
multi-layered system, where state and para-state enterprises benefited from the
preferred rate (1750 rial for $1) while the private sector had to pay the
market rate (8000 rial for $1), hence creating an unequal competition
environment. However, in March 2002, the multi-tiered system was replaced by a
unified, market-driven exchange rate.
 SAO TOME
 Sao Tome Dobra 100,000 = US $5.54
 This African island nation's economy is tied to the volatile
price of its chief export, cocoa, and is measured against its trading partners'
robust euro. In late 2000, São Tomé qualified for significant debt reduction
under the IMF-World Bank's Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative.
The reduction is currently being reevaluated by the IMF, due to the attempted
coup d'etat in July 2003 and subsequent emergency spending.
 GUINEA
 Guinea Franc 100,000 = US $19.85
 In 2002, the mineral-rich African country refused to
implement reforms mandated by the International Monetary Fund; foreign cash
dried up, and the central bank printed too much money.
 From an average value of about 2500 Guinean francs to the
pound sterling during the year 2000, the value of the currency has fallen to a
current level (April 2006) of about 8000 to the GBP and about 4500 to the
United States dollar.
 LAOS
 Lao Kip 100,000 = US $11.75
 Laos is a landlocked country with an inadequate
infrastructure and a largely unskilled work force. The country's per capita
income in 2004 was estimated to be $1,900 on a purchasing power parity-basis.
 The Asian financial crisis, coupled with the Lao Government's
own mismanagement of the economy, resulted in spiraling inflation and a steep
depreciation of the kip, which lost 87% of its value from June 1997 to June
1999.
 TURKMENISTAN
 Turkmenistan Manat 100,000 = US $6.96
 Since 1991- the last year of existence of the USSR - up to
1993 - the last year of rouble zone existence - the rate of inflation was
measured in tens, hundreds and even thousands per cent per year.
 For the recent years the process of involving internal
sources of investment into the sphere of currency turnover and currency accrual
has become unprecedented in its scale.
Written by a Pakistani journalist about India....
2010-02-16 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
Written by a Pakistani journalist about India... Must forward to
all Indians!
Capital suggestion
By Dr Farrukh Saleem
Here's what is happening in India :
The two Ambani brothers can buy 100 percent of every company listed on
the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and would still be left with $30 billion to
spare. The four richest Indians can buy up all goods and services produced over
a year by 169 million Pakistanis and still be left with $60 billion to spare.
The four richest Indians are now richer than the forty richest Chinese.
In November, Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark Sensex flirted with
20,000 points. As a consequence, Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries became a
$100 bill ion company (the entire KSE is capitalized at $65 billion). Mukesh
owns 48 percent of Reliance.
In November, comes Neeta's birthday. Neeta turned forty-four three
weeks ago. Look what she got from her husband as her birthday gift:
A sixty-million dollar jet with a custom fitted master bedroom,
bathroom with mood lighting, a sky bar, entertainment cabins, satellite
television, wireless communication and a separate cabin with game consoles.
Neeta is Mukesh Ambani's wife, and Mukesh is not India 's richest but the
second richest.
Mukesh is now building his new home, Residence Antillia (after a
mythical, phantom island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean). At a cost of $1
billion this would be the most expensive home on the face of the planet. At 173
meters tall Mukesh's new family residence, for a family of six, will be the
equivalent of a 60-storeyed building. The first six floors are reserved for
parking. The seventh floor is for car servicing and maintenance.. The eighth
floor houses a mini-theatre. Then there's a health club, a gym and a swimming
pool. Two floors are reserved for Ambani family's guests. Four floors above the
guest floors are family floors all with a superb view of the Arabian Sea On top
of everything are three helipads. A staff of 600 is expected to care for the
family and their family home.
In 2004, India became the 3rd most attractive foreign direct investment
destination. Pakistan wasn't even in the top 25 countries.
In 2004, the United Nations, the representative body of 192 sovereign
member states, had requested the Election Commission of India to assist the UN
in the holding elections in Al Jumhuriyah al Iraqiyah and Dowlat-e Eslami-ye
Afghanestan. Why the Election Commission of India and not the Election
Commission of Pakistan? After all, Islamabad is closer to Kabul than is Delhi .
Imagine, 12 percent of all American scientists are of Indian origin; 38
percent of doctors in America are Indian; 36 percent of NASA scientists are
Indians; 34 percent of Microsoft employees are Indians; and 28 percent of IBM
employees are Indians.
For the record: Sabeer Bhatia created and founded Hotmail. Sun
Microsystems was founded by Vinod Khosla. The Intel Pentium processor, that
runs 90 percent of all computers, was fathered by Vinod Dham.
Rajiv Gupta co-invented Hewlett Packard's E-speak project. Four out
often Silicon Valley start-ups are run by Indians. Bollywood produces 800
movies per year and six Indian ladies have won Miss Universe/Miss World titles
over the past 10 years.
For the record: Azim Premji, the richest Muslim entrepreneur on the
face of the planet, was born in Bombay and now lives in Bangalore.India now has
more than three dozen billionaires; Pakistan has none (not a single dollar
billionaire).
The other amazing aspect is the rapid pace at which India is creating
wealth. In 2002, Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh and Anil Ambani's father, left his
two sons a fortune worth $2.8 billion. In 2007, their combined wealth stood at
$94 billion. On 29 October 2007, as a result of the stock market rally and the
appreciation of the Indian rupee, Mukesh became the richest person in the
world, with net worth climbing to US$63.2 billion (Bill Gates, the richest
American, stands at around $56 billion). Indians and Pakistanis have the same
Y-chromosome haplogroup. We have the same genetic sequence and the same genetic
marker (namely: M124).
We have the same DNA molecule, the same DNA sequence. Our culture, our
traditions and our cuisine are all the same. We watch the same movies and sing
the same songs. What is it that Indians have and we don't?
INDIANS ELECT THEIR LEADERS!!
And also to mention: They think of Construction of own nation, unlike
other nations who are just concerned with destruction of others...
Simple answer to why the Indians fare better than the Pakistanis - They
don't focus on religion all the time and neither do they spend time and money
in devising ways to kill their own and everyone else over religion.
Home Remedies for ACIDITY
2010-02-10 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
 Home Remedies for ACIDITY
 ACIDITY
 Acidity may be defined as sour or burning sensation in the chest, which
is caused by regurgitation of the excessive acid secretion into the upper end
of the esophagus.
 It is advisable to chew the food properly and drink lot of water for
proper digestion and absorption. Pregnant women suffer from heartburn as the
uterus presses on the digestive tract as the fetus grows.
 Normally the stomach secretes an acid, which is essential for the
digestion. This acid helps in the breakdown of the food. When there is
excessive secretion of this acid by the stomach it results in acidity. Its
common symptoms are dyspepsia, heartburn and formation of the ulcers. It is
more common in emotional and nervous individuals.
 This is caused due to excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid, either
from an increased quantity of the gastric juice or increased concentration of
hydrochloric acid in it.
 Other reason for this may be fermentation of organic acids such as lactic
acid, acetic acid and butyric acid. Increased acidity with regurgitation causes
some amount of oesophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus), which increases
the sensitiveness. Acidity causes reflex increased secretion of alkaline
saliva, which accumulates in the esophagus and is rushed into the mouth without
any sensation of vomiting. This is commonly associated with duodenal ulcer.
 Causes of hyperacidity are gastro duodenal (peptic) ulcer; reflex
pylorospasm from any cause and sometimes-excessive smoking can also lead to
severe acidity. The amount of free hydrochloric acid in the stomach does not
gives the measure of the total acidity of gastric secretions i.e. amount of
total chlorides indicates the better.
 Most acidity problems occur after meals, when doing some heavy exercise
and applying pressure in the intra-abdominal region or at night when lying
down.
 What is ACIDITY?
 The stomach normally secretes acid that is essential in the digestive
process. This acid helps in breaking down the food during digestion. When there
is excess production of acid by the gastric glands of the stomach, it results
in the condition known as acidity. Dyspepsia, heartburn and the formation of
ulcers are some of the symptoms. It is more common in highly emotional and
nervous individuals.
 Common Causes of Acidity
a.. Consumption of Alcohol
b.. Highly spicy foodstuffs
c.. Non-vegetarian diets
d.. Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID's)
 Most acidity problems occur
1.. After meals
2.. When lifting weight or straining and applying pressure in the
intra-abdominal area.
3.. At night when lying down.
 Ulcers also occur as a result of over secretion of acid.
 Home Remedies for Acidity
 Tip 1:
 After all three meals, take a small piece of jaggery and keep it in your
mouth and suck. Voilá no more acidity.
 Tip 2:
 Boil one cup of water. To this add 1 tsp of Aniseed (Saunf). Cover and
leave overnight. Strain the water in the morning, add 1 tsp of honey. When this
is taken 3 times a day it prevents acidity.
 Tip 3:
 To 1 ½ liters of water add 1 tsp Caraway seeds (shah jeera). Bring to a
boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Sip while warm. Have the concoction 2-3 times a
day for 5-6 days.
 Tip 4:
 Powder one clove and one cardamom; use the powder as a mouth freshener
after every meal. No more acidity and no more bad breath.
 Other home remedies for acidity:
a.. Drinking milk or eating milk products are helpful in relieving
symptoms of acidity.
b.. Foods such as pickles, vinegar, fried foods, hot spicy foods,
chocolate, pastries, and raw salad vegetables like onion, radish, cabbage, and
peppers should be avoided.
c.. Clove also helps to relieve the symptoms of acidity. Suck one piece
of clove slowly to relieve the symptoms. It also helps to reduce the onset of
disease that arises due to acidity.
PARENTS ARE PRECIOUS!!.
2009-12-27 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
PARENTS ARE PRECIOUS!!
This was narrated by an IAF pilot at
a Seminar recently on Human Relations :
Venkatesh Balasubramaniam (who works for IIT) describes how his gesture
of booking an air ticket for his father, his maiden
flight, brought forth a rush of emotions and made him (Venkatesh)
realize that how much we all take for granted when it comes to our
parents.
My parents left for our native place on Thursday and we went to the
airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never
traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to make him
experience the same. In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got
them tickets on Jet Airways. The moment I handed over the tickets
to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air. The
excitement was very apparent on his face, waiting for the time of
travel. Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself on that day
and we all went to the airport, right from using the trolley for his luggage,
the baggage check-in and asking for a window seat and waiting
restlessly for the security check-in to happen. He was thoroughly
enjoying himself and I, too, was overcome with joy watching him
experience all these things.
As they were about to go in for the security check-in, he walked up to
me with tears in his eyes and thanked me. He became very emotional and it was
not as if I had done something great but the fact that this meant a great deal
to him. When he said thanks, I told him there was no need to thank me. But
later, thinking about the entire incident, I looked back at my life. As a
child, how many dreams our parents have made come true. Without understanding
the financial situation, we ask for cricket bats, dresses, toys, outings, etc.
Irrespective of their affordability, they have catered to all our needs. Did we
ever think about the sacrifices they had to make to accommodate many of our
wishes? Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us? Same way,
today when it comes to our children, we always think that we should put them in
a good school. Regardless of the amount of donation, we will ensure that we
will have to give the child the best, theme parks, toys, etc. But we tend to
forget that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so
it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they
failed to see when they were young. It is our responsibility to ensure that
they experience all those and their life is complete.
Many times, when my parents had asked me some questions, I have
actually answered back without patience. When my daughter asks me something, I
have been very polite in answering. Now I realize how they would have felt at
those moments. Let us realize that old age is a second childhood and
just as we take care of our children, the same attention and same care
needs to be given to our parents and elders. Rather than my dad saying thank
you to me, I would want to say sorry for making him wait so long for this small
dream. I do realize how much he has sacrificed for my sake and I will do my
best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes.
Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up
everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also. They have wishes,
too.
Take care of your parents. THEY ARE PRECIOUS.
BACKACHE / BACK PAIN
2009-12-10 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
BACKACHE / BACK PAIN
Backache is one of the most common ailments prevalent today. Sedentary living
habits, hazardous work patterns and psychological conditions associated with
emotional stress, which bring about spasm of the muscles, cause backaches. As
the back bears the weight of the entire body, overweight persons feel the
strain on the back when they have to carry an extra load.
Symptoms of Backache or Back pain
Pain in the middle of back or lower down
In most cases of backache, the pain is usually felt either in the middle of the
back or lower down. It may spread to both sides of the waist and the hips. In a
condition of acute pain, the patient is unable to move and is bedridden.
People suffer from cervical and lumbar spondylosis
About ninety per cent of backache patients suffer from what is called cervical
and lumbar spondylosis. It is a degenerative disorder in which the different
vertebrae adhere to each other through bony unions. As a result of this, the
spine loses its flexibility.
Causes of Backache
Muscular tension, straining of the joints, poor posture
The main causes of backache and spondylosis are muscular tension, straining of
the joints, poor posture, and incorrect nutrition resulting from dietetic
errors and lack of exercise.
Kidney or prostate problems, female disorders, influenza
Acute or chronic illnesses like kidney or prostate problems, female disorders,
Influenza, and arthritis, may also lead to backache.
Sitting for a long time, high heels
Other causes include stress and strain resulting from sitting for a long time,
improper lifting of weights, high heels, and emotional problems which may cause
painful muscle cramping.
Home Remedies for Backache
Backache treatment using Garlic
The most important home remedy for backache is the use of garlic. Two or three
cloves should be taken every morning to get results. An oil prepared from
garlic and rubbed on the back will give great relief. This oil is prepared by
frying ten cloves of garlic in 60 ml of oil in a frying pan. Any of the oils
which are used as rubefacients, such as mustard oil. sesame oil, and coconut
oil can be used according to one's choice. They should be fried on a slow fire
till they are brown. After the oil has cooled, it should be applied vigorously
on the back, and allowed to remain there for three hours. The patient may,
thereafter, take a warm-water bath. This treatment should be continued for at
least fifteen days.
Backache treatment using Lemon
Lemon is another useful remedy for backache. The juice of one lemon should be
mixed with common salt and taken by the patient twice daily. It will give
relief.
Backache treatment using Chebulic Myroblan
The use of chebulic myroblan is beneficial in the treatment of backache. A
small piece of this fruit should be eaten after meals. This will give quick
relief.
Backache treatment using Vitamin C
Vitamin C has proved valuable in case of severe backaches. About 2,000 mg of
this vitamin should be taken daily for treating this condition. Considerable
improvement will be noticeable within two days.
Backache treatment using Potato
Raw potato is an ancient home remedy for backache, characterised by
incapacitating pain in the lumbar region, especially in the lower part of the
back. Application of raw potato in the fom of a poultice has been found very
effective in this condition.
Dietaries for Backache
Salad of raw vegetables, plenty of fruits
The diet of those suffering from backache should consist of a salad of raw
vegetables such as tomato, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish, lettuce, and, at
least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage,
carrot, spinach, and plenty of fruits, except bananas. The patient should have
four meals daily. Fruit and milk are advised for breakfast, steamed vegetables
and wholewheat chapatis for lunch; fresh fruit or fruit juice in the evening;
and a bowl of raw salad and sprouts during dinner.
Avoid fatty, spicy fried foods and processed foods
The patient should avoid fatty, spicy, and fried foods; curd, sweetmeats and
sugar; condiments; and tea and coffee. Foods that have been processed for
preservation have few nutrients and should also be eliminated from the diet.
Other Backache treatments for back pains
Avoid smoking and tobacco intake
Smoking or taking tobacco in any from should be given up completely.
Hot fomentation and alternate sponging
Hot fomentation, alternate sponging, or application of heat to the back will
also give immediate relief.
Yogic asanas are also useful
Yogic asanas which are beneficial in the treatment of backache are
bhujangasana, shalabhasana, halasana, uttanpadasana and shavasana.
.
Raise your fitness level. "If you have a back injury that does not require
surgery, studies indicate your aerobic capacity level is the single most
SIP Delivered better returns in 3 Yrs
2009-11-25 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
 Publication: Economic Times Mumbai;
Date: Nov 25, 2009;
Section: Markets;
Page: 16
SIP investors beat equity MF peers in returns race
While Top Equity Funds Gave 16-18% In 3 Yrs, SIPs Delivered 25-28%
Shailesh Menon MUMBAI
WHOEVER said volatility is bad for equity investments? Those who invested in
mutual funds through the systematic investment plan (SIP) route have benefited
the most from fluctuating share prices over the past 2-3 years. While top
equity diversified funds have returned 16-18% in three years, SIP investors
have earned returns in the range of 25-28% (investing into the same funds)
during the same period.
Supposing an investor has invested Rs 1,000 every month (between November
23, 2006 and November 23, 2009), he would have pocketed a 31% return on his
Sundaram BNP SMILE Fund, 29% each on ICICI Prudential Discovery Fund and Birla
Sunlife Dividend Yield Fund and 28% on his HDFC Equity Fund.
The investor would have made more 'risk adjusted' money than investing
directly into stocks (Sensex three-year return being 25% on a compounded
basis). In all cases, the investor would have made more money than any high
networth individual (HNI) who had invested lumpsum into any of the above funds,
unless the HNI managed to enter at the lowest level. "SIP portfolios have
yielding better returns because of the deep-market correction in mid-2008.
Volatility
provides a perfect setting for high-return SIP investments," said Gopal
Agarwal, equities head, Mirae Asset Investment. According to fund managers,
though there will be a slight erosion in net asset value (NAV), a market crash
will not have much of an impact on the overall performance of the SIP. In fact,
investors get more units for the same amount of money in falling markets. The
units bought at lower price-levels will appreciate when the market turns
around, adding to the overall portfolio value.
Lumpsum investors can only invest at one level of the market (in this case
at 13,680 levels, Sensex as on November 23, 2006). Their investments went
through a cycle of dips and surges, but they could not buy fresh units at lower
market levels.
"The variance in the performance of SIP and lumpsum investments is mainly due
to the fact that SIP investors would have picked up additional units during the
downturn. SIPs route is ideal for small investors as it makes market
fluctuations work for them," said Jaya Prakash K, head-products, Franklin
Templeton Investments.
Though one cannot make a direct comparison of benefits (between SIP and lumpsum
MF investment), SIP is usually considered a sound investment strategy in
rangebound as well as volatile markets, as you would not be locking your
capital at one go. Performance of SIPs in the short term, however, depends on
the extent of liquidity in the market, liquid cash position (non-invested part
of the fund) and portfolio composition.
"Lumpsum investments (in MFs) look good in a constantly rising market; SIPs are
better in falling and volatile markets," said Anand Shah, head-equities, Canara
Robeco Asset Management.
"Over a longer term (10 years and more), both investment styles yield
decent return pattern for investors. For instance, if you had made two
investments at the peak level and at the trough level in a given month, the
difference in return at the end of 10 years would be hardly 1%," Mr Shah added.
It is in this context that wealth managers are asking affluent investors to
adopt value averaging strategies while making lumpsum investments. In value
averaging investment (VAI), the investor sets a target growth rate or amount
for his portfolio each month, and then adjusts the next month's contribution
according to the relative gain or shortfall made on the original asset base.
Though VAI has no historical references, returns (asset growth) could well be
very close (or a bit high) to those offered by investments through SIPs, say
experts.
dengue fever
2009-11-19 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
 What is Dengue Fever?
 Dengue fever is an infectious disease carried by mosquitoes. It is found
mostly during and shortly after the rainy season in tropical and subtropical
areas of:
a.. Africa
b.. Southeast Asia and China
c.. India
d.. Middle East
e.. Caribbean and Central and South America
f.. Australia and the South and Central Pacific
 Dengue fever was previously 'break-bone fever' because it sometimes
causes severe joint and muscle pain.
 What are the Symptoms of Dengue Fever?
 Symptoms of typical uncomplicated dengue usually start within 5 to 6 days
after a person has been bitten by an infected mosquito. Some common symptoms
are:
a.. High fever
 a.. The fever may reach 105 degrees Fahrenheit
b.. Severe headache
c.. Pain behind the eye
d.. Severe joint pain
e.. Severe muscle pain
f.. Nausea
g.. Rash
 a.. The rash may appear over most of the body 3 to 4 days after the
fever begins.
 b.. A second rash may appear later in the disease
h.. Vomiting
 What Causes Dengue Fever?
 Dengue fever can be caused by any one of four types of dengue virus:
DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4. Infection with one virus does not protect a
person against infection with another.
 A person can be infected by at least two, if not all four types of the
dengue virus at different times during a life span, but only once by the same
type.
 How is Dengue Fever Transmitted?
 People contract dengue fever from the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito.
Mosquitoes become infected when they bite infected humans, and later transmit
infection to other people they bite.
 How is Dengue Fever Diagnosed?
 A doctor can diagnose dengue fever by performing a blood test. The test
will show whether the blood sample contains dengue virus or antibodies to the
virus.
 Can Dengue Fever be Treated?
 Yes. Your doctor will prescribe medicines to help relieve your symptoms.
 Complications of Dengue Fever?
 If not treated properly, dengue hemorrhagic fever may occur. Dengue
hemorrhagic fever is severe and often fatal.
5 Reasons Why the Dollar Could Continue to Fall:
2009-11-11 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
Forwarded Article
5 Reasons Why the Dollar Could Continue to Fall:
1. Dollar Carry Trade Overused but not Overplayed
The primary reason why the dollar is weakening is because of the overused term
"dollar carry trade." However although it is overused it is not overplayed
because we have long said that how the dollar performs will depend upon where
the Federal Reserve stands compared to the rest of their peers. Last week, the
Fed reaffirmed their steady as she goes mentality by leaving the FOMC statement
virtually unchanged. The Fed is very happy with the way things are right now
and are not in a rush to unwind Quantitative Easing. In contrast, the central
banks of Australia, the Eurozone and even Japan are much more likely to
continue "deloosening" monetary policy. We still believe that the U.S. central
bank will be amongst the last to raise interest rates and for that reason, the
dollar carry trade should remain intact. Back in October, we published this
chart of how close the market believes each of the major central banks are to
raising interest rates and for the most part, it still applies.
2. G20 Pledges Continued Stimulus
The latest reason why the dollar is falling is because of the G20's pledge to
provide ongoing stimulus. More stimulus is positive for the equity markets
which in turn has helped to lift the EUR/USD and other risk trades. Over the
past 2 years, there has been an 80 percent correlation between the S&P 500 and
the EUR/USD. As long as members of the G20 are not paring back stimulus, high
yielding currencies should outperform the U.S. dollar.
3. Geithner Avoids Talking about the Dollar
Treasury Secretary Geithner also avoided talking about the U.S. dollar at the
G20 meeting. Typically, good old Tim likes to take this opportunity to
reiterate the U.S.' strong dollar policy and his failure to do so may be more
than just a careless mistake particularly in an audience of countries who hold
massive dollar reserves and are fidgeting about the continued weakness of the
U.S. dollar. It is no secret that the U.S. only pays lip service to its strong
dollar policy. In a low inflation environment such as today, a weak dollar
helps more than it hurts the U.S. economy.
4. Economic Fundamentals
Friday's non-farm payrolls number indicates the tough economic environment in
the U.S. The unemployment rate has climbed above the psychologically hobbling
10 percent mark to 10.2 percent as job losses continued for the 22nd month.
Millions of Americans are out of work and could have a tough time finding work
over the next year which means that we could be facing a particularly weak
holiday shopping season. Unless the U.S. labor market turns around, the
impressive GDP growth that we saw in the third quarter may not be sustained.
5. Little Technicals Support
Finally, there is little technical support underneath the dollar. Taking a look
at the dollar index, 74.93 is the 14 month low and the index is trading just
above that. If this level is broken, the next major point of support is not
until 71.50. For the EUR/USD a break above 1.5060 opens the door for a move
towards 1.55 and for USD/JPY support is at 87. Futures trades have also trimmed
their bets on dollar weakness which means that a break of support levels could
encourage a wave of new short dollar positions.
Home Remedies for BED BUGS
2009-11-10 Thread Shenoy Investment & Fin. Cons. Pvt. Ltd
 Bed Bugs
 You’ve probably read or heard about the horror stories associated with
the small insects that feed on human blood in the night. They attack when you
are sleeping and are quite adaptable in most of the environments catering to
humans. This is the life of a bed bug and contrary to popular belief – they
surround themselves beyond unsanitary and unkempt conditions – even striking
the ritziest of five-star hotels. While professional extermination is almost
always the only way to eliminate the problem, there are a few home remedies
associated with the dreaded bed bug.
 What are Bed Bugs?
 Waiting until the night to attack their victims, the small nocturnal
insect known as the bed bug belongs to the family Cimicidae, which is known to
feed on blood. While humans are commonly referred to as the main sufferers of
this pest, the bed bug also seeks out other warm-blooded hosts for their meals.
With a past that traces back to ancient history, the common bed bug (Cimex
lectularius) has learned to successfully adapt to the same living spaces as
humans [1].
 With a preference to temperate climates, the bed bug is often found in
warm temperatures, especially in locales such as Florida and the tropics of
West Africa and South America. It is there that various species of the bed bug
infest poultry, bats, humans, and other types of birds.
 When the bed bug reaches maturity, it is reddish brown in color with a
flattened, oval appearance. On their body, microscopic hairs give off a banded
appearance. They possess no wings. Some people believe that bed bugs are so
small that they cannot be seen by the naked eye. This is not the case, as some
adults reach length of 4 to 5 millimeters (which translates into 1/8 to 3/16 of
an inch). Their size is comparable to that of an apple seed. Since bed bugs are
extremely shy and wary of others, an infestation of the insect is quite hard to
pinpoint [2].
 When feeding, the bed bug is typically active only at night with the most
activity taking place an hour before dawn. Using two hollow tubes, the bed bug
pierces the skin of their host and draws blood. One tube injects an
anticoagulant into their victim, while the other tube is used for blood
extraction. Average feeding times are about five minutes, where the bug then
returns to their place of hiding. At the time of the bite, a victim is unaware,
although late reactions come minutes to hours later.
 In the home, the bed bug seeks many different places to hide during the
day, including linens, drapery, headboards, desks, nightstands, artwork frames,
mattresses, and clothing [3]. With the use of a flashlight, you may find a bed
bug crawling about at night. Additional signs, such as blood spots help detect
an infestation.
 Signs of a Bed Bug Infestation [4]
 The best way to detect a bed bug infestation is to call upon a
professional, who will complete an inspection of your home. In case you wish to
analyze your surroundings before hiring someone out of the Yellow Pages, some
of the signs to seek out include:
 a) Bug Bites:
 Even though you may display bed bug bites on your body that occur during
the night, this is not a sure sign that a bed bug was the culprit.
 b) Blood:
 The sight of dried blood (referred to as fecal spots) may appear on the
box spring, behind the headboard, as well as about the seams of a mattress.
 c) Bed Bug Skins:
 A bed bug sheds skin during their nymphal stage, which looks like a
hollowed-out bug.
 d) Bed Bug Eggs:
 About 1 millimeter in length, the eggs of the bed bug are rather
difficult to pinpoint, but are still visible – resembling the shape of rice.
 Risk Factors
 Bed bugs do not feed on dirt, debris, or crumbs, meaning an unclean
environment is not the primary target for the insect to dwell. Bed bugs feed on
blood and it is advantageous for them to seek out places where warm-blooded
individuals are present. This is why places, such as hospitals, hotels, motels,
inns, and cruise ships are perfect living quarters for a bed bug.
 When bed bugs find their way into a home, there are plenty of different
methods to their madness. When guests of a hotel settle in for the night, bed
bugs may climb into their luggage, where they are then transported to a new
environment. Bed bugs also travel by way of used furniture purchased at a
garage sale or thrift shop. The same is true with used clothing, as bed bugs
are known to hide in the crevices and folds of material.
 In multi-unit dwellings, such as condominiums and apartment buildings,
bed bugs find their way throughout the premises by moving about the walls,
cracks, pipes, and wires. New residents may bring bed bugs into a living space
through their moving boxes, mattresses, pillows, and other belongings.
