[slim] Mysqld.exe stopped
Hi! Seems to me that my problem with getting SC 7.3 to start on my computer has something to do with mysqld.exe . Everytime I try to start up SC or reboot I get the Windows message: "mysqld.exe stopped working and was closed" What is the reason for this ? I'm under Vista 32 bit, have AVG as firewall and antivirus, but have stopped both these parts and reinstalled 7.3 with just the same result, so AVG is not the problem. What is stopping mysqld from working ? Re: [slim] SqueezeCenter not starting after installation of 7.3
Hi Dennis! Sorry for not giving more info. I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Service Pack 1, and I have AVG 8 as my Firewall. I uninstalled AVG completely though but that didn't help, so now I have reinstalled it again. When I restart Windows I get a message that mysqld.ex stopped working and was closed. My squeeztray keeps blinking. so not getting started. When I look at services it seems that I can start SqueezeMySQL in the service window, but in services in Widows task manager I don't seem to be able to start the same service, it starts up on some port (PID), but then after a few seconds just stop again. I can reach squeezeNetwork on my SB3 and also on my Boom, but on the Duet I can't connect to anything it seems. Hope this is useful info, please let me know if there is any other info I can provide. [slim] SqueezeCenter not starting after installation of 7.3
Hi! I finally took the plunge into 7.3. Installed the yesterday nightly (23679) over my well working 7.2.1 and installation seemed to work fine, but then squeezecenter never started. I thought it might be something wrong with the nightly so also updated it with last night's nightly (23686) but it didn't help! So I'm stuck, can't get SqeezeCenter to start. Grateful for any help! It actually seems I have to make two scans to get my new music remixable. No idea why, but it is OK since every scan now goes so much faster than ever before with Phil's modified plugin. Hi Phil! Thanks for trying to help! Very much appreciated! I will try the debugging during the weekend when I have more time. I think though it is the Trolls that are working their magic. This evening, you menu item was back on again, but the new tracks still hadn't got to be mixable. Thanks Phil, I know about that setting, and it is definitively on 0, so that has nothing to do with it. Why can't I see you added menu item any more, any ideas around that ? I added new music last night, was not mixable then, and not now early in the morning, but if the behaviour is the same as last time, they will be mixable tonight when I get home from work :) Zevs -- Zevs Zevs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6890 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48422 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] MusicIp causing a rescan - why?
hmmm well I don't understand at all what is happening with this, I did take away again the MusicMagic folder and replaced it once more with Phil's new improved plugin. After doing that I can't any longer see the option "Read Song Data", it has just disappeared from the plugin settings. Strange! Have tried several times with the same result! When I then scan for new music things go really fast, but as I said in the previous post I don't get the mixable tracks. but ... my drive keeps giving quite noises as if it is still scanning and after several hours there as by magic is the mixable MusicIP option for the tracks. So on my system it seems that Phil's revised plugin, goes through the motions very rapidly, but then behind this the real, normal, slow MusicIp scanning is occuring anyhow, and I need that to get the tracks to be mixable. Very strange. no idea why, but why else were the tracks that were not mixable this morning mixable now in the evening ... with no intervention by me Zevs -- Zevs Zevs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6890 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48422 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

The reason for the ( of ) in the Directory scan line was just that I was surprised to not getting any MusicIP mix item for the new songs, that I immediately did another rescan, and then of course there were no new files to find. The number of new tracks was probably 722 the first time I scanned. Sorry about that! It did definitively find the new tracks with covers and all, just no MusicIP mixing option. I have my settings set with the music path for the normal SqueezeCenter directory scan (Music folder) to L:\Music, which is exactly the same address I use in MusicIP. Can foobar write replaygain to ID3v2.3 tags or are you > stuck with 2.4? Well it has what is called in the FAQ a ID3v2 writer compatibility mode: foobar2000 writes ID3v2.4 tags encoded as UTF-8 by default. To deal with broken software/hardware with partial support of the ID3v2 standard, an ID3v2 writer compatibility mode has been added ('Preferences → Advanced → Tagging → MP3 → ID3v2 writer compatibility mode'); it results in non-standard-compliant tags being written (ID3v2.3 instead of ID3v2.4, UTF-16, no unsynchronization, no padding), but attempts to dodge known bugs in other ID3v2 implementations. I have now changed to using that, but still it seems that I don't see the ReplayGain tags in dbpoweramp, but that doesn't matter so much, I can view them all in TagsRevisited and SC can read them and use them. Yes I checked, Foobar is saving this by default is ID3v2.4 but one can set it to do it into ID3v2.3 if one wants to. I guess dbpoweramp does not show ID3v2.4 tags though, and that is why the ReplayGain info doesn't show up. A good other program to view all tags though is TagsRevisited, which seems to show everything in a nice way. Hi Jim, thanks for the response! What do you mean with the "new & changed" scanning ? I'm using SqueezeCenter 7.1 and have ~54 000 tracks on an external harddrive. A regular scanning update of this takes up to 2 hours (depending on what else I'm doing on the computer, Windows Vista), and this I have to wait for even if I just have added one single album... or am I missing something.. ? The browsing part does not scan for MusicIP fingerprint info though, and that is what I think would be useful, to have all the info from tags, cover and MIP in one single rapid scan. [slim] Scanning doe new or updated music--
Hi! Why isn't it possible as an aoption to specify a directory to scan when one one wants to update ones's music database. As it is now we have the options of deleting all and rescan all or look for new or changed music in the full database. Both these options take loads of time if you have a large database. Wouldn't it be possible to add one more option, which which would allow you to just select a specific folder and have that scanned, retrieveing all tags, album covers and MusicIP info? It would be so much simpler and one wouldn't have to wait a couple of hours every time one has added an album! [slim] Spicefly Syncer
Hi! I have had big problems getting MusicIP to work, and finally went to SpiceFly's site and using the info there I seem to have got it to work as I wanted!! Thanks, thanks SpiceFly!!! However, I don't really get my head around what the SpiceFly Syncer is really supposed to do. From the name Syncer I thought it was supposed to sync new music that have been validated in MusicIP with SqueezeCenter, so that I don't have to go in to the SqueezeCenter settings to do that. But that does not really seem to work, so my idea must have been wrong. So sorry for being dense here, but what is this program really doing ? ..well, I'm really cnfuuedabout this. I fiddled a bit and now I do get to the page that you suggested Siduhe, i.e. http://localhost:10002. There are several options on that page, but not really anything called "clear cache", but I assume what was meant was to do "refresh songs" or?? Anyhow I tried that, then made a complete rescan of my library in SC, and the results was just as before, most of my songs are mixable, but none of the newer ones. Why would there be a difference between new and old songs? When I do "clear library and rescan everything" doesn't all info about mixable tracks and such get deleted before the full rescan? If so how come older tracks come back with the M symbol while newer doesn't ...??? Re: [slim] Help ... Internal Rhapsody Error
Hi! I wonder if there has been something generally wrong with the Rhapsody service 2-3 days ago, and if that possible is the cause for some problems you experienced ... I got my Duet Wednesday last week, set it up and also created an account on Rhapsody, and things worked fine until Friday. Then suddenly I couldn't any longer play anything from Rhapsody on my system. The SBC just didn't do anything at all when I tried, although for example Pandora worked perfectly. Then on Saturday evening Rhapsody seemed to load up some songs, I could see the album covers on my SBC, and it seemed that they were starting up for 15 seconds or so (the time indicator moved) but still no sound. Later on in the evening it seemed to have a kind of a "hickup", i.e. again it seems the time indicator started up, went to 20 seconds, then restarted again, went to 5-10 seconds and then restarted for a third time and then the sound was there. This pattern kept repeating for several songs/channels I tried on Rhapsody. Finally Sunday morning, everything worked fine again, my system just played the Rhapsody music perfectly again. -- Zevs Zevs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6890 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45172 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Music IP question.... sigh.....sigh... :)
Hi again Ron! I noticed something strange that I don't really understand. I tried to change the port values and realized I couldn't change the port in Music IP to 10002. The program said I needed to try another port. Using services.mcs I then looked at the MusicIP service and stopped that. Then I could change the port number in the program to 10002, and also then restarting the service in service.mcs worked fine. So it seemed that when I reboot windows I have one service atrributed to MusicIP running on port 10002 and then when I start the actual MusicIp GUI program then that runs a service at anoter port, I had it set to 10040 for example. Then if I follow the link http://localhost:10002 I get to a MusicIP page where I can see the number of songs and such, but when I go to the http://localhost:10040 page then I get to a page that just say Active service API (where API is a link) . so not sure what is going on with this. But it seems irrespective if I have SS set for port 10040 or 10002 I still don't connect to MusicIP and get any M icons. Sorry for the long winded explanation, but something doesn't seem right... Re: [slim] Music IP question.... sigh.....sigh... :)
Hi Ron thanks for helping!!! Yes for sure all these things you mention I have done and checked or they are running and showing up as supposed to. The only difference is that my MusicIP is set to 10040, but that is also what it says in the Slimserver setting for its HTTP port would this be a problem. ?? Yes Ron, the MusicIP server is for sure running, and I do get to a correct page when trying to do what you suggested... Thanks for the reply!! I tried to test this by disabling the autostart of SS when rebooting Windows, and then starting it manually after I had started MusicIP. Unfortunately nothing changed and no MM symbols are visble. thing-fish;176274 Wrote: > However! At least as a temporary workaround, you can go to the Server > Settings->Plugins page and tell Slimserver to load plugins on the fly > instead of at startup only. Make sure MusicMagic is checked. I did try this also, but again nothing changed no M symbols showing up. thing-fish;176274 Wrote: > For a more permanent fix, I'm assuming you're running on Windows since > you talked about services.msc. However, I > don't know if slimserver runs as a service on Windows, someone else > will have to jump in on that! Well, it seems this ref is more or less telling how to make one service wait on something else, and since the manual way of starting slimserver after MusicIP has started didn't work, I don't think this might work either. I guess also it was a bit too technical so I I felt unsafe to test it out :) I did find though something with this instuction at: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24457&highlight=musicip 1. Install the service of MusicIP in Dos Box. Open a Command Prompt and change directory to "C:\Program Files\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer" and type "MusicmagicServer install" 2. Add the following value to your Registry using regedit (Edit, New, Multi-String Value): Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\slimsvc\ Value Name: DependOnService Value Type: REG_MULTI_SZ Value Data: MusicIP Server 3. Reboot I tried this also and both servers are running after rebooting but there is no dependancey and still no M icons showing up Zevs -- Zevs Zevs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6890 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32299 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Music IP question.... sigh.....sigh... :)
Hi! I'm fairly new to SS and also to MusicIP and don't really understand all the lingo round how these are to be connected to work perfectly. I have followed the Wiki though for this and set up everything as said there. I also have followed some threads about the use of headless MusicIP and got the service started, However, I don't seem to get any dependancy from SS on MusicIP when I check running services.msc... Anyhow, when using 6.5.0 I did get my mm symbols when checking on SS in the browser mode. Then I upgraded to the offical 6.5.1 and then I had problems with scanning of my library. It seemed to die midway so I couldn't update. Trying to clear and do a full rescan just didn't do antyhing it seemed. I saw other people had problems with this also, so then I yesterday upgraded to the last 6.5.2 version (6.5.2 - 11310), and then rescanning my library worked fine again. A relief! But... I don't see any more mm symbols in the web browser, indicating that SS and MusicIP doesn't talk to each other any more. So my questions are, could someone in layman terms please explain how to make the SS and the headless version of MuscIP be dependent on each other, and why doesn't SS and Music IP communicate any longer even after having the MusicIP GUI running. Grateful for help on these things! I know you might be really tired of answering these questions from beginners, but still ....:) Very, very grateful for help!! [slim] Re: Scanning on restart
Thanks for the tip Siduhe! I do use both of these, not necessary to manage my library, but in parallel... I did change the reload settings as you suggested and have then restarted twice without Slimserver starting to scan! Looks very promising so far!! [slim] Re: Scanning on restart
Hi! I restarted my computer again and as us usal lately Slimserver immediately started scanning. Tried to look at some of the artists and albums, but the ones I did look at seemed OK from the start, so doesn't seem the library is first emptied out. Grateful for any help in stopping/controling this behaviour. -- Zevs Zevs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6890 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27835 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Hi JJZolx! Thanks for the reply! Not sure if it is causing the things you mention since I usually just wait until it is ready. But will check next time. I run: slimserver 6.5.0 - 9916 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Perl Version: 5.8.7 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt and is using WinXP Zevs -- Zevs Zevs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6890 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27835 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Scanning on restart
Hi! I'm fairly new to Slimserver and Squeezebox, and wonder if it is the defaullt that Slimseriver should start scanning my music files every time I restart the computer. Not sure I experienced this until I upgraded to 6.5. If this is the default, is there any way of deactivating this...?? I would rather like to decide myself on when to rescan.
