Re: [slim] Spotty and file format naming for music stored on Synology nas
I don't use NFS or have a Synology box so am only going on what was in the linked documentation. I suspect that this part is important: > > AUTH_SYS: Use the NFS client's UID (user identifier) and GID (group > identifier) to check access permissions. > It looks like this need to match what pCP is using. Hopefully someone will join this thread with real example and the pCP documentation can be updated. In the nfs rule, I put for the hostname/ip, 192.168.1.102 which is the ip address of the pi on which the lms is running (no port number) - maybe I should have made the access more general by including a range of ip addresses which would cover every pi that has access? For security the box was filled with sys - clicking the drop down list AUTH_SYS is ticked but the three Kerberos boxes remain unticked. Those are, reading from the top - authentication, integrity and privacy. Perhaps I should have ticked one or more - possibly all of these? crrc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114223 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

On the NAS did you enter the hostname/ip for the RPi ? What did you choose for the authentication ? I failed to correct a reference to the name in the media library - lest this cause a chase of red herrings, I should correct this. It is now "Diskstation" as is probably obvious as the webpages come up with Diskstation - clearly taken from the pcp page. hope that makes things clear (ha, ha). Sorry but seem to be chasing my tail with this one. crrc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114223 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Spotty and file format naming for music stored on Synology nas
The /volume1/music part is possibly where the problem is. Do you have any other NFS clients that you can test with? eg a MAC Or try CIFS / SMB from a Windows system. Then you can see what they view. On the pcp webpages - on the LMS tab and read down to Setup Network Diskmount - I have currently put the following information. Mount Point - Diskstation - I have used other names but understand that it does not really matter what. One possibly relevant point is that to get access to files on my windows computer I need to prefix the address with \\Diskstation - that is a generally applied rule. IP address - 192.168.1.108 - this is the ip address of the Synology nas (diskstation) on my network Share name - /volume1/music - this is the address stated in the shared folders page of the Synology Share type - nfs On the Lms webpages settings under the page "basic settings" (I wish) - I have put the media library name as music Media Folders now reads /mnt/Diskstation. Pressing the browse option reveals no more folders under Diskstation. A scan only now reveals some Spotify songs that I have recently listened to but does not address anything on the nas. Not sure that I can give much more information. Just to confirm that I have followed the file services advice on the how to add network share page but so far really not getting very far with this one but any further suggestions or work arounds would be welcome. crrc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114223 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Spotty and file format naming for music stored on Synology nas
Thanks for the replies. Things have moved on. I have installed picoreplayer on one rp1 4 and I am now getting BBC Sounds addon and Spotify. Hooray. However still cannot get the Synology nas to spit out music folders to the nas. I have tried various combinations of nfs and cifs with the ip address of the synology and tinkering with the share properties of the folders on the synology but no joy. All this on the pcp setup pages. Still get the same message about not connecting, and no sign of the folders after a reboot. Going to the lms webpages it sees the mnt point (music) but no attached folders. If you could direct me to a forum which deals with this issue alone I would be happy to expand. Currently thinking of getting an ssd and copying all my music to that and plugging it directly into the pi running the lms. It would need to be running all the time (like the Synology) but no big deal I suppose. Many thanks for your help and at least the issue is now narrowed to one! crrc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114223 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'd recommend you start or join an existing thread for each of your problems. Throwing them all in one pot will sooner or later lead to only one being handled. The pCP/Synology issue in particular has been discussed many times before. As for Spotty: what does your server.log say? For accessing the Synology NAS - see https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/add_network_share/ If it does not work after going through those steps then include some screenshots to show what you have. For the others ... It could be a temporary networking issue ... or it could be that the plugin developer made a mistake in the configuration the something (but then everyone would see the same problem) ... or you are using a custom repo rather than the official unofficial list from LMS and it has an issue. So - how are things configured in your Settings/Plugins ? [slim] Spotty and file format naming for music stored on Synology nas
The usual apologies for asking what I am sure to others appear to be basic questions. I have been a very grateful user of LMS for a number of years but with very much a "fit and forget attitude" unless things start to go wrong. Previously I had LMS running on my nas and my music files are also stored there, so while I can't remember precisely how I directed the server to the music is seemed to work. Very recently LMS on the Synology has stopped working so I have had to rethink. I have got picoreplayer on one of my Pi's (version 4) so I added LMS to that pi which previously only ran the squeezeplayer. So far so good but I have been trying to access my music still stored on the Synology and have failed miserably. I have tried to complete the mount settings on the pCp page - giving a name to the folder (I have tried randomly Diskstation, Music etc assuming that it did not really matter so long as I recognised it. I have put the ip address of the Synology in and using nfs I have put the folder address as /volume1/music - the music is stored in sub-folders under that. When I try to mount I get a disk mount error and it suggests I try to reboot. I have done that several times without any success. Some help would be very much appreciated. A second problem has arisen. I have over the years accessed BBC Radio 3 through the iPlayer and also Spotify through Spotty add-ons. I realised that the iPlayer has now been replaced by BBC Sounds and I successfully added that plug in. However that has joined Spotify as a problem. When I tried to add Spotify add on when pressing apply a message with a new tick box appeared saying that there was a newer version. However if I ignore that message and restart the plug in has not worked. The same applies if I try to restart later and click the newer version. It doesn't add on. Now I am getting the same message for BBC sounds - a newer version is available but the result is that neither now seems to work. Sorry I all the above is a bit garbled but the net effect is that I cannot get my music folders, cannot load Radio 3 from BBC sounds and cannot get Spotify. All this from a system that worked pretty well for years in not much more than 24 hours. Very frustrating. crrc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114223 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
