Hi Eileen,
 For me personally,  speaking only for myself i consider low graphics 
environments to mirror   mobile ones sometimes.
these are browsers like links, and elinks, still under development on the 
open source side, but likely needing terminal to run Mac wise.  I did not 
use a mac for my test.  I was stunned that lynx, also still under 
development, generated an access denied error.
That might explain some of the other problems as well.  If the people 
maintaining these sites are not thinking strict keyboard response, i. e. 
they are using java scripting without making sure the java scripting still 
works with a keyboard, then many access platforms will have issues.
Someone else will have to guide you on  using a low graphics browser 
within the   apple arena.

Your comment on Social security had me wondering in return.
I am rather surprised  that the organization who spearheaded the 
requirement that the Social Security Administration  must provide 
communications in various formats  are not paying attention.
SSa has changed to some ..non document thing that requires some sort of 
player software instead of the  sort of rtf and readme.txt files that were 
there before.  The cd sent is not even formatted as a data one anymore.
Someone is not keeping track of how things are implemented in the long 
run.

Hi Christine,

To answer your question, no. I never pursued contacting anyone. If this is an 
accessibility issue, then maybe one of the blind national organizations may 
need to be contacted. I'm wondering how many more blind or visually impaired 
individuals have attempted to apply for a Federal position only to be 
confronted with an inaccessible website to submit the application. It was 
interesting to me when I wrote my senators that Senator Finestein took the time 
to actually read what I sent her regarding Social Security, but Senator Boxer 
was a form response. Let me know who to send my concerns about this. It takes a 
village to get Washington to recognize a real problem and in my eyes 
discrimination.

blind, but deaf or a combination,   the office of public engagement helps 
facilitate communications for Ms. Gordon.   there are some things not best 
for email you 
know?

the problem form.  Given anyone can send an email from anywhere, sometimes 
putting human presence to problems makes a difference.
As an interesting question, were you able to test things in a low graphics

this morning, and my application is nowhere to be found.

a. Has anyone successfully used a federal government website; I am especially

Here’s a little ironic twist for you: I sent a message to both my Senators and 
Representative, and one of the Senator’s email responses contains a privacy 
release form link . . . which is inaccessible.
Meanwhile, when I tried to locate a contact form for Claudia Gordon, who is 
ostensibly the liaison between the President’s administration and the 
disability community, the only thing I could find was an offer to contact the 
White House, since she is the disability liaison for the White House’s Office 
of Public Engagement. How likely do you think it is that my message will get 
through that barrage of correspondence?
Cherie, could you please clarify what you mean by “legacy solutions”? My 
husband works in a federal building and sees a reasonable number of disabled 
employees working for the various agencies.

Windows doesn't help much on USA Jobs.  The Feds dodge most real disability 
accommodations in favor of legacy solutions that have not worked in the 
mainstream.

which is an excellent one, as I believe that individual is actually blind.
Eileen, did you report your difficulties, and did anyone else you know? I was 
contemplating bringing this to my Senators and Representative, but perhaps the 
liaison is the way to go . . .

Best bet is to just use Windows and a Windows screen reader to complete your 
resume and application process on USAJOBS.

Hi Christine,

About 3 years ago, I tried to apply for a position in the VA system. I had a 
difficuls time uploading and filling out the online application. I had my 
husband look at it and help me, but even he had problems with it and he's fully 
sighted. I decided to forget it, as the Federal government made the process so 
impossible to apply. I do know of one individual who is a high partial who 
managed to complete the application process, but had indicated to me that it 
was extremely hard to get it completed and she is in the assistive technology 
field. I know that the Federal government should be taken to task on this. I 
know I haven't been much assistance, only to know that there are others in the 
same boat as you. The positions I have attempted to apply for will only accept 
online applications. It's a pity because there are many of us who would make 
excellent employees and are qualified for the jobs they post.

Good luck and if I hear more tips on how to apply for a Federal position, I'll 
pass them on to you.

I am at my wit’s end. I am using a MacBook Air, running Yosemite, and I have 
tried Safari and Internet Explorer 10. I attempted to apply to an on-line job 
on a federal government website specifically for that purpose.
1. When I used Safari, I kept getting messages that it quit unexpectedly and 
either hit Ignore and things were as they had been before this happened, or I 
had to hit “reload page”.
In addition, every time I tried to execute the last task required, it would not 
go through, yet the system said I had executed the task. (I checked with a 
Human Resources person who indicates that none of my attempts have gotten 
through.)  I also kept getting warnings that I had no documents saved to my 
account, even though I definitely do and they were actually being listed, and 
the correct one was selected.

2. When I used Internet Explorer 10, I did not get the quitting problem, but 
had the same problem with the same warning that I had no documents uploaded to 
my account, despite the fact that they were listed and the correct one 
selected.  Again, I could not get past a certain point in the process.

3. I ad my daughter, also blind and using a Windows PC with Firefox, fill out 
the application.  It seemed to go smoothly; we got to “Finish” and received a

after many tries, I got it to work.
at first it gave ne an error could not delete partition because the 
drive couldn't ve unmounted.

I created a partition on my MacBook called Mac...HD2.
and now I cant remove the partition and go back to just 1 partition.
Please tell me there is a way to remove the 2nd partition.

Assuming you have a MBP or laptop, the eject key is the top right one on the 
keyboard and a press and hold for about 3 seconds will eject the disk.

To successfully install SL again, firstly power the machine down, now start it 
back up again, the second you hear the Apple noise, sorry there's no way to 
describe that :), press and hold the letter C on the keyboard, do not let it go 
until your CD drive begins to work and by that I mean you can hear it accessing 
the disk. keep your finger on the C key for about another 5 plus seconds and 
release.

you should continue to hear your disk drive spinning and reading for a good 
minute or so. once it all goes quiet press command F5 and again you should hear 
the disk spin up, after another 15 seconds or so, Voice Over should kick in and 
you should be able to install OSx again yourself.

at the point the operating system restarts, i.e. you get to that funky bit of 
music, which visually shows a few screen shots etc of a Mac in use.

hold the power key for about 10 seconds until your Mac powers down.

when you now give the machine to the person you've sold it to, they will power 
it up to that music again and it will be as if it were brand new.

oh, before powering it down, remove the CD the way I outlined at the start, 
pressing and holding eject for about 3 seconds which is the top right key.

Hi all,

Please excuse the cross-post.
I just erased my disk yesterday in order to sell my Macbook Pro.  I thought I'd 
have a chance to reinstall the OS, but it took me back to the app store, 
apparently wanting me to create a new Apple ID,  I inserted my old Snow Leopard 
disk, just hoping to get an OS on the thing, and now, I don't seem to be able 
to eject the disk.

1.  Is there some way I can make the Mac boot from the SL DVD, so that this guy 
can at least get a computer with an installed OS?
2.  Lacking that option, how do I get the SL disk out of the machine.

3.  What should I have done differently, so that I erased my data but still had 
an OS?
