The problem with your license scenario is when I buy the KF2 and it is
more securely locked out of the android market, I will be screwed!

Or if you have a rooted phone you can buy from the market, use root
explorer to move from data/app directory to dropbox and sidelaod that
way.

Works great on the fire btw!

Do it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins\SuperDateTime

I had to switch to mysqueezebox.com and back to SBS on my radio to get

It appears that all works well on both a remote network and locally
connected on a LAN with security. I wasnt at work so I didnt use the
SBR in question, but was able to simulate the experience on my home
SBR. One interesting quirk I noticed when I switched back to the LAN
and off my home is that everything worked fine, except that every few
secs the connected to main screen ould interrupt the ScreenSaver.
After I deleted everything from remote libraries it was fine, so it
appears SBR does not particularly like having both remote libraries and
being locally connected to SBS.

Thanks for the quick turnaround on this issue!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2010-12-20 Thread vw195

I sure would like to move my .png icons from locally in the sbsserver
plugins area to a remote website like dropbox.

If its not too much trouble could someone give me a hint how to get
from $wetData{-1}{'forecastIconURLSmall'} =
'/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/' . $1 . '.png';

to something like :

$wetData{-1}{'forecastIconURLSmall'} =
'http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2586086/' . $1 . '.png';

Obviously that is not quite there yet and I would need to do

my $url2 = 'http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2586086/'. $1 . ".png'
my $http2 = my $http = Slim::Networking::SimpleAsyncHTTP->new(???)
$http2->get($url2)
$wetData{-1}{'forecastIconURLSmall'} -> http2

I know nothing about Perl, or C so am winging it somewhat :p

OK That makes sense. Perhaps a simpler solution is instead of looking
to SBS for the pngs, look to an external website that could be
specified instead. Like a dropbox :)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2586806/images/1.png

Of course the issue with this if SDT changed icons you wouldnt get
them, but I think these icons are pretty standardized anyway as far as
numbering so that might be an issue. Of course I dont know if that
would have be changed in CustomClock or SDT

Excellent diagnosis of the problems. I am in no extreme hurry to get
this fixed, I just wondered what the issue was. The pngs that
customclock uses for backgrounds and other locations don't use the
proxy. Since the remote library has to be hardwired in by ip address
(grrr), I dont see the reason to use a proxy at all to be honest with
you, but obviously I am missing something.

Anyway, thanks for all your help!

OK (semi)Good news. I entered the URL in my laptop and it responded no
authorization...S I disabled user/pass on SBS and tried again... Got
an icon. Then I updated the cc.lua as you suggested and tried it and it
worked!! Got the icon. Then I re-enabled security and then the icon
would not show up. I cleared the CC cache before I did this.

Therefore with user/name it appears going through the proxy doesnt
work. I imagine that if the URL was configured
http://baby.squeezenetwork.com/public/imageproxy?u=http:u...@pass//98.X.X.X:9000/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/30.png
it would probably work, but having user/pass sent plain text to/from a
proxy doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

Erland,

Thanks for your help. Currently I am using a phone with a wifi hotspot
to connect to my SBS at my house. The SBS is not set up with SSH, but
is currently using username/password security only. The log file that
you requested has the following error whenever a sdt image is
requested

Dec 20 12:10:01 squeezeplay: WARN applet.CustomClock -
CustomClockApplet.lua:3920 error loading picture
http://98.X.X.X:9000/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/39_50x50_p.png

You got me thinking that security was the issue, so I removed all
security and it still popped up the same warning messages even with no
security. I then connected with a laptop that is sharing the same phone
hotspot as the remote radio and went to
http://98.X.X.X:9000/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/39_50x50_p.png
and it showed me the image correctly. Therefore, the entire ip address
is correct and my router is properly forwarding. I do have ports 3483 &
9000 open for both TCP and UDP.

In the logs you can see successful results from sdttext requests.
Personally I am at a loss, since the laptop will show the proper icon,
the remote sbr does not show an icon, but a sbr on the local lan loads
(and caches) the icons with no issues.

One potential answer would be to cache all the icons. I suppose I could
upload them to the cache, but that seems like a lot of work.

That fixed it. Thank you very much.

I still would like to fix the problem with my remote SBR not showing
the weather icons. It displays the background PNGs, any background
art, weather from sdttext, everything except the icons. I think it has
to be something about the sdticon command that wants to send the icons
over a different port than 3483 and 9000. I imagine if it requested the
icons from a website instead of sbserver it would work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2010-12-18 Thread vw195

Seems like I have almost everything working on my SBR with SDT. I only
have one issue. I have two SBRs running custom clock with SDT, using
the SDT Fahrenheit skin. One of these SBRs is local, and one is remote
at work. I have opened up my SBS to the internet, and instaleld the
custom clock plugin in my remote SBR, and everything tempwise works.
The only real issue I have is that the weather icons dont get properly
sent to the remote SBR over the net. The temperatures and all the text
based DT data come through fine.

I guess my question is this: how can I fix it so the images get sent
over the net... OR can I SSH into the radio and upload all the png
images to the remote sbr? If so what directory should I store them in?
I guess I shall attempt to SSH into the local and see if I can find
where the .pngs are stored. OR perhaps I should just bring the second
SBR home and let it populate the cache this way.

Any ideas would be appreciated

I believe I have seen the hiccup that you describe when restarting the
SBS with the SBR still connected. I think this is different. I dont
know exactly how it works but I think it probably has to do with only
having ports 9000 and 3483 forwarded to my SBS computer. Perhaps the
icons want to use port 80 from a website, but its coming from SBS
instead of just going out to the internet and getting the icons? Also
just to reafirm I am doing this over WAN instead of LAN. The
temperature and everything else works. Its just the icons. Even if my
theory is bunk I think it has something to do with router/firewall
combo.

2010-12-04 Thread vw195

I and a friend have a SBR. I decided I wanted to run SDT to see the
temp while it is off, so I downloaded SBT and CC and installed,
selected OFFClockSaverSDT when off and SDT Weather Fahrenheit while
paused. (I havent found a good solution to display temperature durng
the now playing). This works great with temp updates every 5 mins or
so.

My friend just bought a new SBR and so I walked him through all the
steps to get this to work and his SDT will not update unless he
manually goes into SDT settings and selects zipcode and manually
updates. He assures me that his computer doesn't go into any sort of
sleep or hibernation. For some reason his weather is not being
updated.

Any ideas?

I really love your CC screen, and would like to adapt it for the radio.
Due to the fact the radio is landscape 320x240, there probably isnt a
good way to do this, but maybe Ill take the current Now Playing Screen
and modify it. Anyways kudos your controller screen is excellent!

Ipeng works pretty well on a jail broken iPad using the full force
program that changes ipeng to actually display at ipad's native
dimensions. When scrolling throguh songs it can get a lot more on
screen at once

2009-11-28 Thread vw195

Hi BPA,

I was wondering why you never fixed your repository naming scheme. Do
you not want people to be able to download the softsqueeze 3.91 beta via
the plugins tab on SBS web control?

Post #122 showed the correct URL @
http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/repos/SoftSqueezev3.9b1.ZIP

I was just wondering if it was meant to be in the repository or not,
but you can download it directly.

Hi BPA,

I'm thinking that I can not download directly from your repository
because my error is :

[09-11-18 17:30:03.4136] Slim::Utils::PluginDownloader::_downloadError
(217) unable to download SoftSqueeze from
http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/repos/SoftSqueeze-v39b1.ZIP - 404
Not Found

and your download file does not have the - in it.

Is this intentional?

Thanks

Heh I don't blame you at all. I would think that would be a great
option that alot of people would use, but certainly doesn't seem to be
based on others feedback :) Maybe you will get more requests as the
radio and touch population increases.

I would use a radar such as
http://ftpcontent.worldnow.com/wtvf/skycam/radar_MidTN.jpg

In fact that is the one that I use on my pocketpc right now :)

I don't know if this is viable or if you would want to, but in the
configuration page you could allow the user to specify the url of a .jpg
they would like to use for their radar. That way you wouldn't be in
violation, if the user wanted to specify a site that technically does
not allow derivative works. I dont think the squeezebox community is
big enough for TWC or WU to build an applet. I would probably use a
local TVs website as i like their radar the best :)

How difficult would it be to snag a weather radar from a site and
display it on a radio or touch?

That would be an excellent feature!

I would access internet radio through ootunes or wunder radio on an
iphone. I think squeeze mobile is suited more to accessing your local
library

If you look for weather panel and or pocket weather program icons for
windows mobile, they have a large variety of icons available:

http://www.weatherpanel.net/ &
http://forums.sbsh.net/index.php?showforum=68

although I think you have to register for the latter.

Good luck
