[ubuntu-art] Miu Theme
Hi guys, I just uploaded my Miu theme to Ubuntu/Artwork/Incoming. This theme is based on somewhat on the Impression theme by John Baer with a considerable amount of modifications and code reduction. The colors should be unified and easy on the eyes. The color should give a brushed copper feel thanks to the options in the murrine engine. This theme utilizes the latest murrine snapshot (r138), which will hopefully land in Jaunty. This is the initial release, so testing is appreciated. Hi all, Being my first message from my Ubuntu 8.10 Laptop, i thank you all for guiding me thru on the installation and setting up the network... This is odd. A few days ago, the numeric keypad [+] and [-] keys stopped working for text zoom in Firefox. I'm on 3.0.6 on Ubuntu 8.10, all current, everything else working fine. No recent software changes. a question about 9.04 and orca
Hi, My 9.04 system is working pretty good, but I do have one problem. I enabled the root account and Orca. Orca comes up fine, but the alt and f1 keys don't seem to bring up the menus when in the root account. The same with alt and f2. Orca reads the desktop with the arrow keys, but the rest of the keyboard doesn't seem to work. Has anyone else noticed this? When you're talking about lilypond, only a few persons take care about this picture. And more, if they have to edit scripts. Eventhough they should care, but this is another problem. You can improve your notations with real big orchestra, and you can improve your own experience like talking between musicians in a little society... Bom dia caros colegas, Estou tentando fazer uma rede ad-hoc(wireless) com meu Ubuntu 8.10(laptop acer) com uma maquina Windows(laptop acer) O laptop com windows se conecta a internet por um modem ZTE. O Ubuntu já identifica que exite uma maquina com solicitação para entrar em rede com ele(o ad-hoc está configurado na maquina windows) só que não consigo faze-lo se conectar a maquina windows. O ubuntu pede a password, entro com a password mas não estabelecem comunicação, ficam somente nos pedindo que entre com a tal password. Use o OpenDNS, é o método menos invasivo que existe e a menos que os seus filhos sejam hackers, o mais seguro. Um firefox -P já burla o sistema de proteção que voce tenha colocado no firefox. Usando o OpenDNS, o cara para burlar teria de configurar proxy externos ou trocar a lista de DNS, o que é bem mais complicado. Como não sei seu nível de conhecimento em linux vou tentar deixar umas dicas, só me desculpe se estou tentando ensinar o padre rezar missa. Bem pra começar você deveria entender um pouco sobre permissões no linux. Pessoal, não sei vocês, mas a definição de tela no meu notebook não fica tão nítida, mesmo escolhendo outras combinações nas configurações de video / propriedades do Desktop. A tela é aquela com cristal bright (nao sei se é assim que se escreve :) ) No windows bem como em outras distribuições fica bem melhor que no Ubuntu... pois nele fica até consativo ficar muito tempo olhando pra tela... [Ubuntu-BR] Pasta compartilhada em rede Windows ...
Saudações Galera ... Tenho uma duvida sobre o assunto colocado no titulo... eu trabalho numa empresa com rede windows, apenas o meu micro é linux, e não é autenticado na rede ... coloquei duas pastas compartilhadas, clicando com o botão direito e indo em Opções de Compartilhamento habilitei as opções: Compartilhar esta pasta e Permitir que outras pessoas escrevam nesta pasta só que quando outras pessoas tentam acessar estas pastas, o windows abre a caixinha pedindo nome e senha, mas nenhuma senha que eu coloco da certo... nem a meus usuário e senha da rede wndows, nem usuário e senha local do ubuntu ... aonde estou errando ?! bem, nao posso ajudar com uma solucao, mas posso dizer que no meu dell inspiron a qualidade esta melhor que do windows (claro q é mentira, falei só pra sacanear... a definição está ótima em qq SO). Eu sei pq ele veio com o vista home. 2009/2/17 Marcelo Silva marc...@ig.com.br Pessoal, não sei vocês, mas a definição de tela no meu notebook não fica tão nítida, mesmo escolhendo outras combinações nas configurações de video / propriedades do Desktop. A tela é aquela com cristal bright (nao sei se é assim que se escreve :) ) No windows bem como em outras distribuições fica bem melhor que no Ubuntu... pois nele fica até consativo ficar muito tempo olhando pra tela... [Ubuntu-BR] Duvida - Abrir .DWG e .RAR
Caros amigos sou iniciante na área do Linux, ainda estou aprendendo. Trabalho em uma empresa que estamos implantando o Ubuntu 8.04 em alguns setores, porém tenho necessidade de abrir e visualizar apenas nada mais arquivos do AutoCAD 2009© (extenção .dwg) porém não estou encontrando nenhum pacote para que eu consiga fazer essa visualização, algum amigo(a) saberia me dizer algum pacote de instalação que me ajudaria a resolver este problema? Quanto ao .rar ou .zip não consegui encontrar tbm, parece-me que estão dando alguns erros na execução do comando, não é possivel serem executados sei lá. alguem pode me ajudar? sudo apt-get -y install unace rar unrar zip unzip p7zip-full p7zip-rar \ sharutils aish uudeview mpack lha arj cabextract file-roller Muito agradecido a todos! O meu é um Sony Vaio 15.4 veio com XP e a deficicao no windows é muito boa... eu ja testei o fedora... e no fedora fica bem melhor... já co ubuntu com as mesmas configuracoes que o fedora 10 nao fica tao boa ... deve ser alguma coisa no Ubuntu mesmo... As fontes sao exatamente as mesmas... mas no ubuntu as letras ficam com Antileasing muito forte... fica cansativo... ja tentei varias combinacoes como disse mas ainda nao esta legal... E que tal não usar o -y? Usar o -y te poupa de dar um ENTER no meio da instalação (entre apertar 2 teclas/apertar 1 tecla, eu prefiro a segunda opção), além de te ajudar a ler o que está acontecendo. Não ajuda muito você dizer que alguma coisa está acontecendo se não diz o que acontece: cola aí a mensagem de erro. Para abrir arquivos zip, não precisa instalar nada extra, pelo que me lembro. Meu querido que eu saiba, zip, unzip sao nativos do linux, ou seja ja eh instalado pr padrao na instalação, o suporte a rar tem q ser instalado apt-get install rar unrar, utilizo muito estes 2 formatos pra descompactar arquivos vindos da net e num tem erro. Marcelo, Vc possui setado na configuração de fonte a opção Suavização de Subpixel(LCDS)?, caso esteja clique em detalhes e na janela q abrir clique na opção Completo. Bem assim de sopetão eu diria que está errando em não conhecer o sistema de permissões do linux, mas vamos tentar mastigar seu problema. Veja se seu objetivo é apenas compartilhar e todo podem acessar e fazer o que quiser, basta você ativar a última opção para permitir acesso anônimo a esta pasta, assim ninguém precisará de nenhum tipo de autorização para acessar. Agora se você só quer permitir acessos autenticados aí sim terá que deixar essa opção desmarcada e deixar marcada somente a permissão de pessoas escreverem na pasta (alias essse termo pasta apesar de usado nas traduções do Ubuntu não é muito legal pra Linux, pra mim linux tem diretórios e não pastas). Bem, continuando, se você não permitiu acesso anônimo então as pessoas terão que se autenticar para acessar a pasta e isso significa que ela deverá informar ao sistema quem ela é... aqui já entra um problema... eu não fui a fundo no estudo do usershare então eu não sei que tipo de autenticação ele usa, pois a gente tem dois tipos a autenticação feita pelo samba e outra feita pelo Linux. Se por acaso a autenticação que ele usa for do samba então você terá que adicionar os usuários autorizados no samba (veja como fazer isso pesquisando em algum site de busca), agora se ele usar a autenticação do Linux você só deverá criar usuário no próprio Linux ou usar os que já existem. Passando pela fase da autenticação você ainda tem que passar pela fase da autorização que também são duas etapas: a autorização que o samba te concede e a que o linux te concede. Como assim? Se por exemplo você usa um usuario chamado godines, o serviço samba vai verificar se esse usuário tem permissão (nas configurações do samba) de acessar o compartilhamento em questão .. bem isso se a autorização do usershare passar pelo samba. Uma vez autorizado o acesso pelo samba ele já pode acessar o recurso compartilhado, porém se esse diretório ou arquivo compartilhado tiver um acesso restrito para o usuário godines então você não vai conseguir acessar. Um exemplo seria o diretório ter as permissões drwx-- e dono/grupo root root, mesmo autorizado pelo samba ele teria que ser autorizado pelo Linux. É... é bem complexa essa parte do samba sim, mas nada que uma leitura atenta de como funciona não resolva! ;) boa sorte. -- Danilo G. [Ubuntu-BR] openoffice 3.0.1 no ubuntu
Olá instalei o ubuntu 8.10 no meu laptop, baixei o openoffice 3.0.1 para o ubuntu mas não consigo instalá-lo, já deletei o office 2.4 para evitar problemas de conflito mas mesmo assim não consigo instalá-lo. Será que alguem poderia me dar uma ajuda. Vá em sistema-administracao-usuarios e grupos e verifique se a conta em questão na guia [privilegios do usuario] tá liberado alguma coisa como compartilhar arquivos... Outra coisa, dá o acesso ao compartilhamento nao significa que os usuarois depois de acessarem poderão usar seus arquivos, explico, se tiverem pastas dentro desse compartilhamento com acesso exclusivo para o usuário roberval (chmod 700), estes que não são o roberval não conseguiram acessa-lo. No Windows é a mesma coisa, por isso ele tem a guia compartilhamento e depois a guia segurança onde podem ser ajustados as DACL (como as ACLs do NTFS sao chamadas no Windows) para determinar quem pode acessar os arquivos. I can confirm the default ACL for other are being applied correctly on file creation through a CIFS mount with the POSIX extensions disabled, on hardy. The ability to create pipe and socket is not important in my case, and I think I can do without POSIX file locking. As such, disabling the POSIX extensions is ok with me. Basically team-xbmc would ideally want to use libsmbclient-dev so we could link to the systemlib instead because we have issues regarding x64 with our precompiled version and can´t switch due to this bug. Same here, using Debian Lenny. I messed up smb.conf, so I decided reinstall samba thinking it would give me a fresh smb.conf, and it didn't, same messed up file was there. Then I removed samba again, removed the entire /etc/samba folder, and reinstalled samba giving a post-installation error nmbd failed to start, and /etc/samba folder wasn't created. After reading this post, tried removing also samba-common, though samba-common isn't a dependency of samba package. Bad idea, now I can't install samba-common again because /etc/samba/smb.conf doesn't exists and obviously it won't create it. So which package originally created /etc/samba folder and configuration files?? Well, I've managed the samba reinstallation in the next way. Noticed that samba depends on samba-common, and samba-common needed the smb.conf I deleted, which it should actually provide, I think. So I decided create a fake smb.conf (touch /etc/samba/smb.conf). Then I could install samba-common and it didn't complain about the empty file. Then I could install samba, also without any complain about an empty smb.conf. Next I thought was.. Now I just need to find the original smb.conf on the web and voila.., but before doing that, I realized looking in samba-common package info, that it installed a kind of template for smb.conf in /usr/share/samba, so I copied that file back to /etc/samba, so the server was aparentely working again, at least it didn't complain about anything.
