Hello all, As a occasional user of Scribus on Ubuntu (currently 9.10, but also used on previous versions), I have never had much difficulties. I recently designed a brochure using Scribus 1.3.5 and can't remember any crash. So maybe it would be an option to indeed change from Kubuntu to Ubuntu. But probably this also depends on the complexity of your layout work (not being a professional, mine is usually rather simple. The main reason for using LTS is IMHO not so much the stability, but freedom from update-terror for two years. Unfortunately this breaks when important packages have major updates out of step with the LTS-cycle, as with KDE, QT and Scribus, presumably also soon with Gnome. I personally would be happier to forget the LTS versions, but to also only have one new version per year. Since at least Jaunty there is a package called scribus-ng with a more recent version of scribus. This is the edition chosen by default in the SwissRemix. You might have a look if there is scribus-ng in Hardy also. Yes, in Hardy scribus-ng *is* version 1.3.4, which contains most of the features of 1.3.5. but using QT3 instead of QT4. Understandably nobody wants to fix the bugs in this now that 1.3.6 will be out soon. It was my mistake to use scribus-ng at all, but now it is too late to go back, as it uses a new file format incompatible with Scribus 1.3.3. In this respect free software is no better than propietary SW; the format trap may not be intentional, but it is still there. I am using ubuntu karmic as the primary OS. I want to hide the grub menu. It was very simple while using the older version of grub. Here there is an option in the /etc/default/grub file. But that solution won't work if we have more than one OS. It is described in ubuntu documentation that we have to change some scripts in the /etc/grub.d/ folder inorder to make this possible. Could anyone hide this menu? if so, please describe. -- .. Hi, Thanks to Tony on the vinux list, I now know where the problem is in lucid. When installing the latest live cd. If you enable show object under mouse the system will lock up when you reboot the next time. It locks up after login. I don't know if this is a direct lucid bug or a orca bug, so I will post this on the orca list too. If you want a dual-tuner card I'd recommend the PS3 PlayTV usb tuner. Hello, I need a USB audio Interface, like to have minimum 8 In/Out works with audacity need no phantompower wish to have a seperate In/Out Box which is connected to the USB and not only a Multi-Link-Cable-Connection... Must not have midi, but it would great if interface can work as audio-soundcard too, and... it should not make ( a lot of ) noise... Should work with Debian Stable (5.x) also, or, please. specify Ubuntu Version... Marcelo, Ainda bem que vc se sente confortável mandando essa mensagem pra uma lista da qual sua mãe, esposa ou filhas poderiam fazer parte. Eu acho que isso só reforça a idéia de que o mundo do open source é sexista e não respeita as mulheres. Particularmente, nunca havia presenciado nada assim, mas agora entendo a reação de algumas mulheres quando evitam fórums de tecnologia... Tente repensar sua atitude quanto às mulheres, amigo. [Ubuntu-BR] Alterar a visualização do netbook remix para GNOME classico
Saudações pessoal. Sou novo na lista mas já tenho uma experienciazinha com linux. Aí vai meu primeiro email. Comprei um notebook de 12 (HP Pavilion DV2-1110BR) e instalei o UNR. Mas acabei percebendo que a telinha de 12 polegadas dá pra usar a visualização clássica do GNOME sem problema algum, não sendo necessário o visual netbook remix. Andei dando uma googlada e vi que existe um tal de desktop-switcher, mas vi em vários foruns que o mesmo está dando pau no 9.10. Pergunto: algum de vocês sabe uma forma de alternar entre a visualização netbook remix e a visualização GNOME clássica? Oi; no meu caso instalei as duas dependências que vem juntamente com o modem. Elas são para Ubuntu 8.04, mas servem para posteriores tb. Instalei o gerenciador de internet, mas ele não funciona. As dll's instaladas dão mais estabilidade a conexão. O mais, é só configurá-la de acordo com o provedor o servidor DSL, etc. Porém, ainda digo que, não existe uma estabilidade definida ainda. Ela mais cedo ou mais tarde cai com certeza. Isso vai sendo melhorado com o tempo em atualizações do Ubuntu. Mude para desligar monitor e defina o tempo para isso ocorrer, 1min, 5min, etc. Os notebooks estão vindo das lojas já com essa configuração. Abraço. Senhores, Uso um PC Core2 com Ubuntu padrão amd64. Instalei a refeida camara acima seguindo as sugestões do supermau no link http://swiss.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8238570. Ele diz o seguinte: I haven't tried the http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca/http://linuxtv.org/hg/%7Ejfrancois/gspca/drivers, I used http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/archive/tip.tar.bz2 and they worked fine. The only problem was the same as the others are having, make problems with the firedtv-1394 driver before compiling sonixj driver which is the one we really need. So, after make failure, you have to edit v4l/.config (you have to run make first or else you won't find .config in the v4l directory): CONFIG_DVB_FIREDTV=m to CONFIG_DVB_FIREDTV=n Run make again and then sudo make install, reboot, enjoy! A camara funfou legal no cheese. Porém, apesar de ser detectada pelo skype, aparece sempre um tela verde ou ele trava na hora de testar a camara. Alguem tem alguma sujestão de como fazer ela funcionarcom o Skype? Obrigado. No janelas existem cerca de 6 milhões (e subindo) catalogados, fora os que ainda não foram descobertos e os que aparecem todos os dias. No meu ponto de vista, uma das principais causas dos vírus se tornarem rapidamente inócuos no Linux é que: 1 - São rapidamente descobertos porque os pacotes são auditados por muitas pessoas diferentes, ao mesmo tempo. 2 - Quando uma falha que pode ser explorada por um vírus é descoberta ela é rapidamente corrigida. O fato de se utilizar repositórios não oficiais é uma brecha, mas às vezes não temos muita opção, portanto é bom ficar de olho. Há um ou dois meses atrás colocaram um pacote .deb no gnome-look.org que permitia utilizar o computador para um ataque ddos. Resumo da história: isso se evita baixando os pacotes dos repositórios oficiais; tenha a prática de checar o que você está instalando num .deb/rpm/pacote baixado de sites. Linux deixou de ser menos seguro com esse caso? Não, pois foi uma falha que explorava a preguiça e confiança do usuário. Não era um vírus. Era um script que simplesmente enviava pings para um determinado servidor de jogos, com a intenção de fazer um ataque de DoS. O criador do Script sequer tinha interação com o ele remotamente, ele não tinha a capacidade de se replicar, de se esconder ou de se anexar a arquivos, portanto não era vírus. Não vejo o que a preguiça e confiança do usuário tenha a ver com isso. E foi justamente essa auditoria independente, feita por uma pessoa que baixou o pacote e leu o código, que estava *aberto*, que permitiu descobrir o problema e corrigi-lo. Abraços. Senhores, boa tarde. Recentemente o meu teclado passou a apresentar o ; (ponto e virgula) no lugar do ç (cecidilha). Fui verificar a configuração em Sistema-Preferências-Teclado e percebi que além de constar Brasil na Disposição também foi acrescido EUA. Removi o EUA e tudo voltou ao normal, mas agora sempre que início o Ubuntu aparece o EUA automaticamente na Disposição, juntamente com Brasil e eu perco a configuração. O problema com o DVD é intermitente no meu PC. Nunca tive problemas com o teclado. Não acho que é problema com o tipo do DVD já que quanto abro pelo SO do tio Bill ele funciona perfeitamente. А какие файлсистемы на дисках? Интеграция firefox и KDE
Всем привет! Система Kubuntu 9.10 В Firefox'e при выборе файла используется его родное меню. Можно ли изменить его на такое как в Konqueror'e? Поясню суть. Меню выбора файла в Konqueror позволяет выбирать даже файлы, находящиеся в виртуальных ФС, например: SMB, FISH, FTP и т.д. MPD и ID3v2.4
Не так давно начал пользоваться mpd+фронтенды и нашел интересный баг. При сканировании фонотеки (~12.000 файлов), где абсолютный порядок с метатегами (при появлении новой музыки обязательно правятся теги: ID3v2.4 + UTF-8) у некоторых файлов mp3 в тегах появляется вот такой бардак, причем неизвестно, откуда такие названия берутся? Easytag, kid3 не показывает ничего аномального. Kid3 отображает теги обоих версий, но я обычно удаляю IDv1, чтобы не было кривизны. [Bug 528934] [NEW] IPv6 shouldn’t be dis abled by default
Public bug reported: libvirt by default disables IPv6 as a result of this patch: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=355689action=diff This is incorrect behaviour. IPv6 should never be disabled by default, and the need for IPv6–enabled software grows greater every day. Currently, libvirt both sets net.ipv6.conf.virbrX.disable_ipv6=1, and net.ipv6.conf.virbrX.accept_ra=0. The reason why IPv6 was disabled by Red Hat was to stop the virbrX interface from accidentally receiving Router Advertisements from virtual machines running on the host. The solution accept_ra=0 could have been sufficient to fix this, but due to reasons unknown (likely a fear and non-understanding of IPv6), IPv6 was instead disabled altogether, which breaks IPv6 functionality. This can be fixed by only setting accept_ra=0, while not touching disable_ipv6. (If a sysadmin still wants IPv6 disabled, they can do so on the kernel command line, or set net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1.) Included in these was some new additions ie including Google Chrome something about mailx. I had already installed Google Chrome beta from the Google website. I just left everything checked and assumed that all dependencies and/or duplications would sort themselves out. Additionally, installing apps from the Ubuntu Software Centre appears to fail, however when you check the apps, they appear to be installed. When installing from the USC, entering authentication details (ie password)appears to be ignored pressing the Esc button clears this so I am uncertain then whether all dependencies have been met. Aha, I think I understand why ... During the CLC install, I think the user is prompted for eucalyptus /cloud-address (if it exists), and if the user leaves it blank (and none is detected on the network), then the installer suggests installing this machine as the CLC. Hence, eucalyptus/cloud-address remains blank. So I just think we need to determine that address in a different manner. Attaching /var/log/installer/syslog from my CC/SC install. Search this file for 10.1.1.71 (the address of the CLC) and you'll see that eucalyptus/cloud-address is set to 10.1.1.71:8773, at least for a bit. Maybe it's set correctly in the installer environment but that doesn't get propagated to the install chroot. Configuration file handling is quite complex. Basically if the user removes a configuration file, the package shouldn't reinstall it by itself... That's why the package only suggests appropriate action. NB, the default CPU that is exposed is a generic one which allows for maximum portability with respect to live migration. This should be updated to use Upstart's facilities. Une astuce pour supprimer ce fichier: remplacer le vilain caractère par le joker *: $ rm m*ssage\ personnel.doc Cela aura pour effet de supprimer tous les fichiers dont le nom commençe par m et se termine par ssage personnel.doc (l'espace étant échappé par la barre oblique \)...
