Whether the frame is boxed or C-channel has nothing at all to do with how it will fit. The person who said that is just blowing smoke. The boxed frame is used on the El Camino because it does not have the same amount of support from the roof as a coupe or sedan. Convertibles also got boxed frames

I looked at a Mustang convertible once that had so much floorboard rot that the passenger side door was pinched shut and would no longer open. My guess is that if it was opened, the car would have folded in half. That's why the support from underneath is so much more important on convertibles.

Steve: the el camino frame will work but you have to shorten it approximately 4 inches (almost 4 its actually 3 something) at the rear. A convertible frame will also work but with no mods like the el camino. you would have to use the cross member out of an el camino or convertible though. Larry

No one makes frames for the cars, well yet anyways. I seriously doubt you will find a rust free frame. That is just about unheard of. Best bet is to keep an eye on the west coast or midwestern cars, but I bet even they have surface rust on the frames. Tom
