Alaint, I had problems awhile back when I first setup my roadrunner cable modem with Mandrake 6.0 Pump failed to obtain an IP on bootup but changing the /sbin/ifup call to dhcpcd fixed it. (as you have done also). Then about 3 weeks ago my system stopped getting an I.P. again. Roadrunner here
