All of the GoldSrc releases should be backwards compatible right now. For the
best experience for your customers you would ideally offer access to a beta or
main server. As Mr 1nsane said, I would expect the trend of beta's to continue.

The region variable is no longer used and should be ignored, the list order is
now based upon a dynamic ip database lookup (and the same system that all those

I've looked at this binary, it doesn't work on current Half-Life 1 dedicated
servers for multiple reasons (bad version number in the connect string, using
bad auth method, and more), so make sure your server is up to date and this
tool won't affect you.

try 10k or more. This will effectively disable apart of the DoS protection

We have a beta update available for Counter-Strike 1.6, to get this beta run
the hldsupdatetool with "-beta cs0616" on the command line.
This beta include just a few tweaks since the last release, including:
- Added -sys_ticrate command line option to allowed forced override of ticrate
They were server hangs when users connected with malformed data.

There is also a client piece to this beta now, so if you run your Steam client
with "-beta hlds0319" on the command line you will get it. The client piece
fixes a couple exploits in the game engine.

We will have a fix out shortly for win32 dedicated servers. Linux servers are
not affected by this crash.
