Dear Brian
I am no expert in copyright but am very interested in the subject. Common
sense tells me that the museum can only copyright photographs of objects in
their collection that they took/commissioned themselves, and not the
historical objects themselves that are clearly in the public domain.

I write this at the end of a series of complaints from myself and

Hallo Arachnids,
since I’ll be near Bayeux the first week of June: does anyone of you have the
addresses and opening times of the lace museums in Caen and Bayeux? Anything
else I shouldn’t miss while I’m there?
Best from Berlin, where spring starts at long last, Achim.

Dear Arachnes,
Just to add to the discussion. The amount of lace on display in the Cecil

reduced since the remodelling (and I gather the same is true of Luton).

As Devon notes, things change!
The one firm piece of advice that remains is always check with the museum just
before visiting - apart from anything else, they may be happy to open

well get things out for you, whet

Dear Barbara and Meghann,
Of course no discussion of lace tourism in England should omit mention of
the book Lace Villages by Liz Bartlett, which was the basis of a tour I

Dear Janice,
Although it is not all that close to Zurich (55 minutes by car according to

The Kantcentrum museum in Bruges has been moved (only a little way) and

displays of how lace, both bobbin and needle, is made. Well worth a visit.

Hi all,
I'm planning a trip to Europe (with mom) partly to see some of the lace

though Pag has a reputation as a party city - and I'm hoping Hvar is a bit

In response to Jo's note I was trying to enter data on our local museum to the

listed online, and only some of those have photos attached. And
I'm shocked to hear about the Brugge lace school and museum closing, it has
been a goal of mine to get there! On a positive note, I just found out about

been discussed on Arachne but missed by me. The website is
