I posted something a few moths ago that sparked the usual discussion
among the informed. the verdict was that the pentax tech was not
telling the truth. I don't care who ultimately knows better but the
pentax tech said to leave it on a powered on camera for some time
without trying to make it focus
the 16-50 has screw drive alright but when SDM dies it won't default
back to screw drive on a body that supports SDM.
pentax says they're aware that people are complaining but defect
ratios do not differ significantly from other product lines. assuming
that is true it doesn't make things better fo
never mind. it can only get cheaper =)

I have their 80/20, big bounce and super big bounce and while I love
the way they work, they tend to be a bit heavy - the head of my
af-540fgz sometimes just flops over from their weight. dunno about the
metzes but you may have to add some straps to prevent it from doing
that

You may want to shop for the Kenko MC7 Pz-Af teleconverter - it is
optically fairly good with 7 elements and couples all mount contacts
including SDM and/or power soom. It also comes branded as Bower and
Soligor. On eBay Germany they typically sell between 50 and 125 €,
dunno about US price levels
