If there is nothing on the built in screen, I'd check the video cable between the logic board and the screen, an extremely common cause of problems on a 5300/190 That sounds like useful info, now my question is... How do I tell if the video cable is bad, and is it replaceable if it is bad?

Does it do anything ay all - completely black, completely blue, feint image on the screen ? with brightness turned all the way up the screen is completely green (maybe you could call it blue) I would strongly suspect the screen cable if the brightness varies but you get no image. Check

I've ended up with a PB 190 which has a cable with the female end lose. Unless I press to oneside or the other, it will power up with the Mac sound but will shut off immediately. I'm going to trim the area around the hookup and solder it a bit tighter to see if that works. The female
