Are you trying to login to your FTP server as root? If so, there's your
problem right there. Make a new user..
$ adduser whatever
$ passwd whatever
(then set the password)
Now try and log in to your FTP server with the non-root user you just made.
However, if that's not that case, then we'll fig
you might be using the root account. Don't use it.
Better yet, use ssh to make remote connections.

While this might seem like a good idea, in theory, false positives do wind
up in there, and you might wind up viewing messages that you might not
otherwise see or want to.

regardless of your telnet problemsyou should not use telnet on a live

You should replace this with SSH, which is basically a secure telnet option.
Look into openssh.

Mondo Rescue makes a linux distribution

Hi,
My problem
is the next:
I’ve
got 2 interfaces in the same host=linux.informatica.com
eth0
= 192.168.200.11
eth1
= 192.168.2.189
My
routing table is:
0.0.0.0 192.168.200.17 0.0.0.0 UGH 0 0 0 eth0
19.174.16.51 192.168.2.1
Might Try Drive Image Pro. I find it works
better if you do away with their caldera dos boot disk and make it a bonafide
DOS 6.22 boot disk with their program.

We use a similar setup, I have a vxa-1 tape drive with 33 GB native

use Arkeia softeware.
The linux server is setup as a PDC and all users see drive H as their
data directory when they log in from any machine.

There is a way, or there should be, to enable secure access to a machine

My problem is this:
I have two machines, both running ssh, they both have static ips on the

I do believe that AMANDA will do this for you. It is only bound to
actual partitions if you are using dump. Set it to use GNUTar.
I am currently backing up a server (where AMANDA is running) with 3
entries:
/home (own disk)
/var (own disk)
I just re-complied my kernel everything went okay, but when I re-booted I
notice that ext3 is not supported? I went back into my Xconfig and selected
under the file system "Ext3 journailing system supported" is this were I

I know that I've to edit a .rhosts file in the of the , like
this
.rhosts - permissions -> 400
there is some way to allow ANY user to do rsh with that use
I think I tried that but Procmail runs as the user so that wouldnt work unless
I use 666 permissions or like a previous poster mentioned , put all users in
the same group anddo 660 permissions

I use amanda. I'm happy with it. You can specify file systems.

backup EVERYTHING.

You definitely don't need 666 permissions on the folder.
If you're testing it, you could just redirect it to a folder/file in your
own home directory...like /home/anthony/mail/SPAM.
