Hi,
I had an intense flirt with ubuntustudio a while back, until I
realized my laptop was way too slow to keep up with all the tracks I
recorded. I've just now ordered a new laptop, and plan to continue
recording as soon as it arrives. I remember I had to install packages
from this ppa:
Thank you very much!
The package from your ppa solves the issues reported here, as well as a
bunch of others. Please attach the patch to the upstream bug-report!

I'm unable to login to a KDE session as well, also using a rather old intel

I really think the importance of this bug should be bumped, preferably to
critical. As things stand now, people with this rather common chipset which
supposedly runs on good open source drivers cannot even
Chris, I'm not seeing this crash on Gnome with compiz enabled. In fact,
if I login to a gnome session (with compiz enabled, but that doesn't
matter for this example), and then choose to switch users, and login
another user to a KDE session, I don't see this crash. In a case like
that, however,

compiz: initiation of scale plugin doesn't work correctly
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this list.
I've been reading some of the emails going back and forth concerning the
lack of realtime patches for the 2.6.27 kernel. What's the most recent
take on it? I stumbled over this just now:

Googling around, the only emulator I found that works well is one called

Thanks Dan,
That workaround definitely has something to do with this problem. It
seems to have solved the problem here. Seems because, I'm only getting
a dark screen, not the actual screensaver I've chosen, but that's
probably a different problem.
Unredirecting full screen might not be the thing
I'm a bit too busy right now to do anything useful, but I thought I'd
just add this bit of information: It seems this problem occurs only when
compiz is active. When metacity is managing windows, the screensaver
activates just fine.
