The $HADOOP_HOME/etc/hadoop/ is the config directory. You can find the *-site.xml, etc. under it, or create a file if it doesn't exist there. The default XML files aren't supposed to exist. They are embedded into the jars (which are on the classpath) as they shouldn't ever be modified by users. Yo
