Thanks Jason. I'll keep my eyes peeled. it's a track from the next Iridite EP by FAO Jesus aka Samuel, an old friend of mine form Salford I can tell by the above line, this is obviously a man of great style and panache. Everyone lives in Salford now, I get neighbours coming round for midi leads and joints worths instead of cups of sugar and eggs. (313) Looking For New 'Detroit'-Style Techno
Can anyone help with some recommendations for new music please? Doesn't have to necessarily be by Detroit-resident producers but I'd prefer it to have a tinge of that unmistakebale 'Detroit' flavour, which I for one, still think is a valid demarcation. Also, I'm using the word 'techno' quite loosely, but I am definitely looking for upbeat dancefloor-orientated stuff. I'd would especially like to hear about artists who might be 'newer' or just still relatively unsung, so far. Many many thanks, in advance. Ken 'I'm not really a badie' Odeluga

Hum... the first Senor Coconut was really good I thought, not gimmicky at all (the second one was), it really showed how good are Kraftwerk tunes, the way they remain excellent songs whatever dress you put on them. Genius or gimmick? I have it - if you listen to one or two of the songs I think its different, melodic and quite nicely done however if you try and listen to the album as a whole its all in the same vein and gets pretty repetitive (all good just not at the same time is my view) Cheers BT ### ## Note: Any views or opinions are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Channel Four Television Corporation unless specifically stated. RE: (313) Looking For New 'Detroit'-Style Techno
The new Moonstarr release entitled Detroit might fit the bill. It's an homage to the Detroit sound, and has been getting excellent reviews! Here's a few quotes... DJ Rolando - I really like Detroit - its got a very nice old school feel to it Nick Luscombe (XFM) - Classic - will probably play every Sunday for the rest of the year Wai Wan (Earth Project) - This is LARGE! (313) Looking for a track on vinyl
Ok, can anybody help me find this track on vinyl? After 8, Golden Boy feat. Miss Kitten, from the EP 'Or'. This popped up on my iPod shuffle list and I was struck with an overwhelming desire to grind on a nearby lamppost or mailbox. Unfortunately, the recording is pretty old by now, so I haven't been able to find it by the 'usual' methods. thanks in advance! Luis P.S. I just came across an ancient recording of K.Hand's Drip. What an excellent bassline! I've got a find a way to use that track again. Politics is parlour tricks. -W. Jean

On hearing Senor Coconut on vinyl, I didn't really get it, though I liked the idea. But seeing el Maestro on laptop live with the band running all over the stage is a different experience; I thought the joke might wear thin quickly, but the band were very entertaining and they were tight musicians (can I say that on 313 ? ;-) s. talking of Sonar Kollectiv. What do people make of that label? that record wasn't bad, but I like Alex Cortex more when he keeps it 4/4 but gets all buzzy and abstract like on the 'Phlogiston' EP. the interplay between synth tones gets almost vocal at times. i'm not too familiar with his backcatalogue -- anything else along those lines? or other records/artists i should check out? - jobot - Original Message - From: Ken Odeluga [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Friday, August 20, 2004 10:18 am Subject: RE: (313) Q re Black Dog That Alex Cortex stuff, especially 'Inwards/Ctrl' is very 'Black-Dog-A-Like'. (313) new film looks rather techno

Evening all Thought some of you might be interested to hear that Mario will be doing a set on my radio show tonight. I can't go into too much detail about where he usually plays, but suffice to say that he's resident at London's largest and longest running techno party. In case you want to tune in, he'll be playing from about 1am onwards (BST) on 107.9FM in the Oxford area. If you're beyond the reach of the transmitters, there's a live stream at: http://www.passion1079.com Best Dan.
