The difference is, the first 3 festivals had city money guaraunteed.

I really wouldn't mind if they skip a year and take an WHOLE year to

 Wow!

David arent you happy enough to have Mills, Mike Banks living on your
continent. Not to mention all the shows headlining detroit/american
artists that are constantly rotating through Europe. Mn, do we
really have to take one of the last formidable, and sizable electronic
detroit/american events left here and move it too. I personally dont
have the money to be galivanting to Europe and back. This is one thing
among few others I have to look forward to. I cant believe people would
even consider moving the festival as a viable option. Remember it
started as DEMF for a reason, and will always be that as far as Im
concerned. Move the festival, and it might as well be any other
 festival.

 sorry struck a chord.

I'll certainly make a donation if thats what it takes.

I think that has been raised before but obviously not with trance acts in
mind - more in the league of OutKast or as in George Clinton in a previous
year. The names I heard were mostly on the avant garde hip-hop or neo-soul
tip and I know DM wanted Air, Kraftwerk, etc, as he mentioned so in an
interview.
Someone commercial yet envelope-pushing. But obviously money is needed to
book someone like that.

and a trendy headliner would be good too.

I can see it now- Now playing on the trance stage...

Does anyone know if we should be expecting to hear anything in the near
future from the following artists and/ or their respective labels:

Jay Denham and Black Nation
Stacey Pullen and Black Flag

It has been awhile for both of them. Any other Detroit techno artists/
musicians who haven't released any material in over a year? The creative
juices need to keep flowing in the Motor City and its extended family cities
in the U.S. and abroad. It is a small community that seems to be shrinking,

This isn't the first time that Bauhaus has reunited. They did a US tour a
few years ago too.
Cocteau Twins together again would be interesting. I had the pleasure of
seeing them on the Blue Bell Knoll tour - they were good but they didn't
layer Elizabeth Frazer's voice at all so it wasn't quite the live
experience I was hoping for. At that show Mazzy Star opened up and I
thought, as a live performance, they were more interesting.
To be honest - I wish these bands wouldn't do these reunion shows as much.
I'd rather hear new material from them instead of them dragging out the old
act. Peter Murphy should do a solo show instead - he does have a new album
out.

What did you have coming out of the speakers in your car? Though I
don't
remember loading it in the player, I had the spanners CD from the
black
dog. It was cold and foggy this morning so the spanner tunes set an
appropriate mood.

Well... while I'm not a 100% techno artist, I'm still here in the 313,
trying 2 do my thing... :-)

Right now, I just released a new 12-inch tech-house single called Hateful,
on my label, Wallshaker Music. You may have seen the FIRST pressings
floating around in October, but now it's a full-fledged release... Fresh
for 2005, featuring remixes from Orlando Voorn/UR and K. Hand... How's THAT
for a Detroit record? Heheheheh

I think I even have a couple extra promos floating around here (hint-hint)
so get at me (privately, of course) if you're interested. In the meantime,
feel free to browse Wallshaker Music on BEATPORT.COM to hear samples from
each of the mixes (except for the acapella, which didn't make the first
12-inch, but is included on the NEW pressing).

And please forgive me if this sounds like shameless promotion, BUT...
You're also more than welcome to check out my listening room at
www.aaroncarl.com. Those who know me, know I do both house AND electro -- I
think you'll like the new stuff. I have a message board on the site as
well, so feel free to leave me a message.

Peace and respect, y'all...

having to drive as much as i do during the week. anyway, all day
today i was rocking my shoddily mixed 2-step's greatest hits

of headphones that were cutting out most of the time to make the
mix just because i needed some of those tunes on tape in my car
and i didnt have my nice headphones with me. so the results are
not the best but theyre good enough. the tunes make the tape,
suburban lick's youre mine, groove chronicles stone cold,
wookie get enuff, artful dodger it ain't enough, etc.

speaking of archetype, this from g-tech:

here is a featured interview + 2 deep sets Charles Noel aka Archetype has
done for Droidbehavior:

http://db313.ath.cx/~sida/archetype.html

Bio:
Charles Noel (Archetype) is founder, president, and primary artist for the
21-22 Corporation.

From its modest beginnings as a cassette-only, industrial breakbeat
label, Charles has overseen every aspect of the Corporation's growth and
development. He has utilized the label as an outlet for his own artistic
growth: as a visual artist in the digital realm, an unacknowledged
pioneer of North American drum'n'bass (Monochrome), and a
highly-respected tribal techno producer (Archetype).

At the same time, he has also allowed the Corporation to serve as a
testing ground for other like-minded artists including Todd Sines,
Titonton Duvante, Kevin Kennedy, Morgan Geist, Kevin Moon, and Mike Szewczek.

Since 1998, Charles has performed all over North America, and has made
appearances in the UK, Belgium, Germany, and The Czech Republic. In June
2001 he was also featured at the famed Sónar Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

His releases for Black Nation Records (Michigan) and Ongaku (Germany) are
only a few among the many in the works; including a mysterious new
sublabel strictly for his material as Archetype, called GLYPH.

Charles is also a formidable techno and house DJ, and is co-founder of the
ele_mental collective, spearheading several of its more conceptual events.

for interview + audio: http://db313.ath.cx/~sida/archetype.html

Archetype plays in Los Angeles alongside fanon flowes, aaron bennet, acid
circus and more on Feb 26 @ Interface 11.0
