what other ghostly records should I buy do you reckon?

ones I have that I can remember I really like are daniel wang berlin
sunrise. (f**king greAT RECORD) oops. luisine push, hyrgolyphic being or
whatever he's called today and disco noveau series. ah and the osborne
jack
with shake mix ETC.

also, on the merchandising side, I'd like to see a ghostly white bed
sheet
with eyes cut out rather than a t-shirt range. I'd buy one for sure,
would
cover up my ugly mug.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

For any Manchester (UK) peeps that don't know he's playing live as Audion at
One Central Street (note to non-Manchester (UK) peeps this is odd as this is
generally a hand bag disco-ish place) on Wednesday.
I've got an e-flyer that says it's £3 or free with the flyer so if you want
to go hit me back and I'll forward it to you (can't copy it here as it's
HTML).
In fact I've just been and checked the flyer and there's a link for non-HTML
mail folk to go to:

 http://www.manchesterad.com/html/estore.php?eid=227

fab - I don't generally go out in the week but if I end up at this or know
of someone who's going I'll try to get that contact for you.

(313) techno and house under 120bpm

2005-11-14 Thread Michael . Elliot-Knight

I was doing a mix this weekend (not recorded) that was leaning toward the
slower end of the bpm spectrum
I didn't clock the beats but I'm sure many were around 100 bpm or less (and
I was pitching stuff down around the -6/-8 mark)

it got me thinking about what techno and house tunes make it under this
mark without being ambient
it's that bpm range where you could either chill or dance

so what's out there? new or old (I'm sure most Theo Parrish, some
Moodymann, and all the beat down stuff will fit)

to give you an idea of what I was playing here are a few things (of what I
can recall):

Hubtone - Hot Muffin (4 Lux)
Nu Era - Capricorn Sun (from the Stars 10 on SSR)
Yotoko - Melrose (from the Bullet-Time EP on Emoticon)
Titonton Duvanté - Levels Of Scandal (starts out with an acid house track
backed by strings and then right at the end breaks down into a hip-hop
beat)
Frank De Jojo - Turn Off The Lights (Fluid Ounce)

(313) which good live acts are there?

2005-11-14 Thread Simon Vrebos
Before ya'll start throwing names at me, let me first minimalize the possible
answers. I'm not really asking for those
strictly-techno-people-has-to-dance-to-this kinda live sets.

I'm actually thinking about Kirk Degiorgio for example. Does he do live acts???
Or Carl Craig (besides Tres Demented), can you book him for a Carl Craig or
Innerzone Orchestra live???

With these names in mind, maybe you can help me out. You know... people with a
large and diverse catalogue... able to bring a good live act... not really for
da clubs... more concert-like.

Rei Loci
Fabrice Lig
The Electrofunk All Stars
Ultradyne
Dynarec

im sure there are more but they stand out in my memory

(313) berlin this week

2005-11-14 Thread Guilherme Menegon Arantes

Hi there list.

Any interesting events in Berlin from next thursday (17th) to sunday
(20th)

Would be great to check some Monolake gig, so if he is playing anywhere,
even from his iPod, let me know... Oh and also Daniel Wang...
Berghain on saturday will have Michael Mayer + Marcel from HW and Kerri
CHandler in the bar. Sounds like a hit.
Watergate will have Sebo K., Andre Henke (Baambi), Fortsch and
Fortyounce (what kind of music these guys play?) on friday. Any good?
What about Maria (will Dan Curtin be DJing there on saturday?)??
What else

Also got the record shops addresses and markets that Ramon and Brian
gave us a few months ago. Any changes or additions to those???

Danke,

Guilherme (AKA Caipirinha-man)

recloose is doing a live act in sydney soon
January 14
Future Classic Night *$25
Hot on the heels of Recloose’s second album Hiatus on the Horizon comes his
highly anticipated live act - a crowd rocking six piece New Zealand
super-group sure to keep people shakin’ it.
Building on the funk filled, horn-laden dancefloor sound of his latest
album, Recloose has gathered some of New Zealand’s finest to bring these
new studio creations to life on stage, as well as relive old classics from
his Detroit days.

Recloose has won fans world-over with work reminiscent of some of Detroit’s
finest electronic moments, interspersed with hints of old jazz, funk and
soul. In his own words: “You could say it is Detroit meets Wellington, so
go figure”.
